"Is something wrong with the mistress? Did she just fall and hurt her head? This is the Li Residence, and the lord is the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Rites." Said the maid with wide surprised eyes.

Bai Ruozhu felt a thump in her heart. Li Yi! What was he implying? Was he not worried that she would destroy his residence?

"Leave us, I have something to discuss with the mistress," Li Yi announced as he strode in from outside.

Bai Ruozhu glared at him, "What do you mean? You can’t just casually call me ’mistress’."

Li Yi laughed, his usually rigid and determined face showing a hint of amusement. He walked over and grabbed Bai Ruozhu by the chin. When Bai Ruozhu reached out to slap him, he brushed her hand away.

"You thought you could fool me with such small tricks?" He spoke and suddenly pointed a few fingers towards Bai Ruozhu’s face, then with a ripping sound, he tore off the human-skin mask she was wearing!

Taken by surprise and hurting from the sudden pull, Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but let out a low gasp. Immediately, Li Yi’s rough hand made contact with her face.

Bai Ruozhu quickly stepped back. She noticed the amazed expression in the man’s eyes, glaring at him furiously, she said, "What are you trying to do, get lost!"

But Li Yi approached her step by step, a smirk on his face, "If you become my woman, do you think you can ever return to Jiang Yichun?"

"Who is Jiang Yichun? I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m a decent citizen. Let me go now, or else it would be abduction of a civilian woman," Bai Ruozhu exclaimed loudly.

Li Yi grabbed her chin again, forcing her to meet his gaze. His other hand wandered over Bai Ruozhu’s smooth cheek, saying, "You’re beautiful, skilled in using poison and intelligent, you meet all my criteria. I’m taking you as my concubine tonight."

"Get lost! I’ve been married before, I’m second-hand goods! Aren’t you disgusted?" Bai Ruozhu retorted with a cold face.

Li Yi shrugged, "I don’t care, as long as I can have fun."

A murderous look formed in Bai Ruozhu’s eyes. Did he think she was a toy?

"Haha, don’t think about escaping. Do you know why I was able to find you?" Li Yi grinned wickedly.

Bai Ruozhu glared at him silently. Unfazed, Li Yi took out a small bottle from his chest pocket, shook it lightly and opened it for Bai Ruozhu to see, then said confidently, "I have sprinkled insect attractant on you, which cannot be removed for a month. So, wherever you run, these bugs will help me find you."

Bai Ruozhu’s face turned pale instantly. Inside the vial, was a chubby, white insect. The sight was so nauseating, it reminded her of the tales about poisonous insects her grandfather used to tell in her previous life. She had never come across such things before seeing them sent a chill down her spine. She retreated back to the bed until her back hit the wall.

She recalled how her grandfather used to tell that these poisonous insects were very sinister, far more than normal toxins. She had also heard that poisonous insects were raised in large numbers on the Southern Border and Western Regions. But in her former life, she lived in modern times and had never come across anything so sinister.

Seeing Bai Ruozhu’s fear, Li Yi laughed heartily, and closed the bottle, "Be obedient. I admire your skills, I’ll treat you well. As for Jiang Yichun, he’s a useless man, who will inevitably die sooner or later."

"You are the useless one, your entire family is useless!" Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but retort.

A flash of rage streaked across Li Yi’s eyes as he grabbed Bai Ruozhu’s chin again, "Do not assume I don’t dare to kill you. Strip your corpse naked and hang it at the entrance of Tianshan Town. I refuse to believe Jiang Yichun will not fall into my trap."

Bai Ruozhu clenched her teeth so hard it let out a grinding sound. She could not enter her space now, else she would drag Li Yi with her.

Thinking this, she subtly moved the tip of her finger, and used the poison again.

By the time Li Yi realized what was happening, his vision was already blurring. Damn! The poison was different from the previous one, otherwise, having taken the antidote would have saved him from this.

"You’ve been searched all over, even your clothes have been replaced, how can there still be poison powder?" He muttered weakly, but he knew he had underestimated the woman before him.

"My whole body is poisonous. You cannot touch such a woman casually. You just grabbed my chin, you know." Bai Ruozhu gleefully laughed, tricking Li Yi into thinking he would be poisoned by touching her.

Li Yi attempted to retort, however he passed out and collapsed onto the bed before he could finish.

Bai Ruozhu hastily grabbed the bottle containing the poisonous insect from his chest and threw it into her space as if it was a hot potato. Looking at Li Yi who had temporarily fainted, she was tempted to kill him and put an end to this.

So, she started searching around the room for a weapon, but couldn’t locate a single dagger or anything sharp enough. Unless she breaks a vase, but doing so would attract the guards from outside.

After considering the situation, she returned to the bed and attempted to strangle Li Yi but couldn’t go through with it.

Bai Ruozhu really wanted to slap herself. Killing, which wasn’t innate, just required gritting of teeth and going through with it. Why was she such a coward?

Otherwise, she could suffocate him using a pillow? It would be less frightening if she couldn’t see his face.

Just when she picked up a pillow, she suddenly realized that Li Yi’s finger moved slightly. She immediately froze. How could she forget that he was an expert who had inner strength and could slow down the poison in his body. If she attempted to kill him now, chances are she would be repelled by the burst of his inner strength before succeeding.

She was relieved that she thought twice before acting impulsively. Being a person with no inner strength, even a slight shock could prove fatal. Even her mysterious space wouldn’t be able to save her.

Thinking this, she hurriedly tucked Li Yi into his bed, pretending he was simply sleeping. Then, she quietly got out of her bed and crept towards the exit.

Just as she stepped out of the room, she spotted a patrol of guards not too far off and heading her way. She had no choice but to retreat back into the room and crawl into her secret space.

Though her secret place was a good hideout, it was immobile. She could only hide temporarily and would always reappear at the same spot. She had to come up with a way to escape somehow.

For now, she could only wait and seize the right opportunity over time.

In her secret space, Bai Ruozhu continued to prepare her poison. This time, she was going to apply it to her skin. Unless she removes it herself, no one could touch her without getting poisoned. Of course, having already taken the antidote, she herself was immune to the poison.

About half an hour later, a servant finally noticed that something was off with Li Yi. Soon, the doctor revived him. Furious, he rampaged through the room, breaking everything in sight while shouting, "Find and bring her back to me, even if she flees to Wu Yunfeng, fetch her back!"

The fact that the woman had knocked him out again implied that she was capable of taking his life at any moment. With another quick pat down his chest, he found the bottle containing the poisonous insect was missing!

"Damn woman, I’ll slaughter you, send you to the military camp to be a military prostitute!" Li Yi roared in his heart.
