Chapter 249: Chapter 249: Respect Her Secrets

Bai Ruozhu felt as if countless "Grass Mud Horses" were galloping in her heart, screaming inwardly: This is not just dragging me down, you’ve stolen my first kiss!

But Bai Ruozhu knew that Jiang Yichun definitely didn’t know about the kiss, how could she possibly expose it? It would be too embarrassing to talk about.

"Don’t worry, we’re temporarily safe," Bai Ruozhu said in a low voice, but inwardly, she was screaming. What safety? My cat Dengdeng must be crying at home.

"Where are we? Is it dark outside?" Jiang Yichun strugged to raise his, only to find that something was abnormal, and his voice involuntarily rose a few degrees, "What’s wrong with my eyes?"

"You’ve been poisoned, and can’t see for now," Bai Ruozhu said calmly, trying her best to sound composed, so as not to arouse his suspicion.

"The poison isn’t blinding," Jiang Yichun said coldly, "Did you accidentally blind me while treating me?"

This put Bai Ruozhu on edge. She had a hard time fooling someone who understood medical skills. But who was she? Why would she blind someone?

"To detoxify you, I had to seal your acupuncture points, otherwise the poison would have harmed your eyes. You don’t understand my detoxification method, if you don’t trust me, I’ll stop helping you!" Bai Ruozhu said indignantly.

Now, Jiang Yichun seemed a bit cowed, and his tone sounded rather appeasing, "Don’t be angry. You saved me. I should be thanking you, not doubting you."

Bai Ruozhu’s eyes shot wide open. Did she just hear right? Was the sarcastic man apologizing to her? Well, maybe, probably, or something like that?

Bai Ruozhu didn’t know how to respond and was just looking down in a daze when she heard a cold voice: "Jiang Yichun."

"Huh?" Bai Ruozhu was startled and looked up at him, wide-eyed.

"I said my name is Jiang Yichun," Jiang Yichun repeated.

Bai Ruozhu was once again surprised. Wasn’t he not supposed to reveal his identity?

"Oh, I’ll remember that and won’t tell anyone," Bai Ruozhu quickly reassured him.

"Where are we again?" Jiang Yichun asked once more.

"I found a hidden cave to hide in. Those people are really cunning. They left once but then returned. I was about to take you outside when I realized they were still lurking nearby. They said they were gone, but I’m afraid there may be traps," Bai Ruozhu explained.

Jiang Yichun could imagine how frightened she must have been while she was running for their lives from the attackers. He also blamed himself for being careless and getting poisoned thus putting her in danger.

"Why did you save me? Aren’t you afraid of dying?" Jiang Yichun suddenly asked.

Bai Ruozhu was taken aback and at a loss for words. She also didn’t know why she was so determined to save him. She wasn’t a saint, and she rarely got involved in dangerous situations. No, that’s not true, she had been in dangerous situations before, but never as dangerous as now.

"I have a soft heart. Didn’t I risk my life to save Rongrong, even though I didn’t know her at the time? Incidentally, you saved my life before, and I always return a favor," said Bai Ruozhu, sounding very earnest. After she finished speaking, she assured herself, Yes, that’s it.

Hearing this response, Jiang Yichun felt somewhat disappointed, or rather, a bit upset. Her reply had been perfectly logical, so why was he so unhappy?

"I gave you some medicine that temporarily suppressed the poison within your body, and you should be recovering somewhat. When do you think you’ll be able to leave the mountain?" Bai Ruozhu asked, thinking of her family at home.

Bai Ruozhu wondered where she could have possibly gotten the medicine from. She decided not to ask for fear he would accuse her of doubting him.

"What do I do? I’ve been gone for so long, my family must be worried sick. What if someone comes up the mountain looking for me and runs into those killers?" Bai Ruozhu worriedly pondered. It wasn’t that she didn’t care about Jiang Yichun, but she couldn’t put her family in danger.

Jiang Yichun raised his hand and said, "Help me up, and I’ll meditate to regain my strength."

Bai Ruozhu hurriedly went over to help him up. Since he couldn’t see, he wasn’t sure where to put his hand. Bai Ruozhu naturally slipped his arm over her shoulder and lifted him up.

For a moment, they were very close. Jiang Yichun sniffed a little, and it seemed like the scent he smelled in his dream. Yes, Dengdeng also smelled like this... it was... the scent of milk.

He was sure that the taste in his dream was Bai Ruozhu’s, but how did her scent get into his mouth? Was it because he was thirsty and then...

If Bai Ruozhu knew Jiang Yichun was thinking in the wrong direction, she would definitely crack open his head and see what messy things were inside.

This was not the time to delay. After Jiang Yichun sat down, he stopped daydreaming and said, "I told Li Shunsheng that if anything happened to me, he should signal for the city gates to be closed immediately. No one would be allowed in or out. So even if your family wanted to find you, they wouldn’t be able to come up the mountain."

Bai Ruozhu finally breathed a sigh of relief, but it wasn’t good for her family to worry about her like this.

"Let me regain my strength for now, then we’ll think of a way to get back down the mountain," Jiang Yichun suggested.

Bai Ruozhu didn’t want to disturb him and silently waited at a distance. She really wanted to make a fire and cook some fish to eat, but how could she explain to Jiang Yichun that there were fish in the cave?

Alright, she would have to endure her hunger and wait.

After a while, Jiang Yichun’s complexion changed abruptly, and he suddenly vomited a mouthful of black blood. Bai Ruozhu was startled at first, but quickly realized that he was vomiting up the internal clots of blood that had accumulated in his body. This type of vomiting was actually harmless.

Jiang Yichun casually wiped the corner of his mouth with his sleeve. Bai Ruozhu handed him a water pouch. The water came from the pond. She guessed that drinking it would help him recover more quickly.

Indeed, after drinking the water, Jiang Yichun seemed to regain some energy.

"When can you let me see again? Otherwise, I won’t be able to lead you down the mountain," Jiang Yichun asked.

Bai Ruozhu thought for a moment and responded, "Due to the urgent situation earlier, I didn’t have time to perform acupuncture on you. Now, I’ll use a set of acupuncture techniques on you. You should be able to see soon and it won’t damage your eyesight."

Of course, she planned to leave the space first, then walk for a bit before allowing him to regain his sight. Otherwise, how would she explain where the cave was?

Jiang Yichun had no objections and instead sincerely said, "That would be great."

Bai Ruozhu began applying acupuncture and unblocked his eyesight. However, it would still take some time to fully recover.

"Alright, let’s get you out. It should be safe outside," Bai Ruozhu suggested.

Jiang Yichun wanted to say that it might be best to wait until he could see again, but he could tell that Bai Ruozhu was hiding something. However, he knew that whatever she was hiding, it must be harmelss to him. Since she had risked her life to save him in a moment of crisis, he should respect her decision to keep things hidden.
