Chapter 1417: Chapter 1419: The Main Forces Reunite_1

On the way back, Jiang Yichun and Sangta were almost constantly arguing. Bai Ruozhu couldn’t be bothered with the two of them and just let them carry on with their love-hate relationship.

Just as they arrived at the camp, a subordinate of Sangta came to salute and handed over a note, "Prince Sangta, a secret message has arrived from the Falcon."

Sangta took a brief look at the secret message and a touch of reluctance flashed in his eyes.

He clenched the letter in his palm, turned his head to Bai Ruozhu, and said, "The Falcon is the one I sent to deliver a message to your subordinates. He has encountered them on the road and is now hurriedly making his way here."

Bai Ruozhu was overjoyed upon hearing this, and after estimating the time, figured it wouldn’t be too far from Gaochang, and it would probably take Jianqi and the others only three to five days to arrive.

Sangta looked at Jiang Yichun helplessly. Despite his annoyance with him, out of consideration for Bai Ruozhu, he still arranged a tent for Jiang Yichun. However, he had him sleep in the same tent as his soldiers, directly lowering his status.

Jiang Yichun was almost in a daze now, so he really didn’t care what status he was given. Bai Ruozhu didn’t have much concept of hierarchical superiority and inferiority either, so she didn’t pay much attention to it.

After all, she hadn’t fully recovered yet. She felt a bit lethargic after getting back, ate dinner early, and went to sleep in her own tent.

In the middle of the night, she vaguely felt someone touching her face, and the breath was very familiar. She snuggled into it and fell back asleep.

At the bedside, Jiang Yichun watched her eagerly and couldn’t help but reach out and touch her face. He believed what Bai Ruozhu had said, rather than the memories of being in love with Honglian, because he felt absolutely nothing for Honglian.

At first, he wondered if he was just fickle when faced with a beautiful woman. It wasn’t until Bai Ruozhu mentioned they even had a child together that he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

But why couldn’t he remember anything?

In the days that followed, Bai Ruozhu healed while writing out the method for preparing Cistanche. Sangta also found a few people with knowledge of planting to learn from Bai Ruozhu. Unfortunately, the Barbarian Tribe never grew herbal medicine, and it had been challenging to teach them over these few days.

Meanwhile, Jiang Yichun always hid on the sidelines, silently watching Bai Ruozhu, observing her every move. Sangta felt stifled by this and sent Jiang Yichun out hunting, saying, "We don’t have freeloaders here. If you want to stay, you have to work!"

Jiang Yichun truly went hunting and soon dragged back a hedgehog. Before he could speak, one of Sangta’s subordinates let out a scream, "My little hedgehog, you actually took it as prey? I’ll fight you for this!"

Bai Ruozhu glanced over and felt that if it had been her, she would have definitely thought it was wild prey too. The Beast Team she had seen before had been wolves, leopards, tigers, falcons, snakes, and the like. She’d never seen a hedgehog before; Jiang Yichun was just unlucky.

The Barbarian Tribe member blew up, wanting to fight Jiang Yichun to the death, who wore an awkward expression and kept dodging but did not fight back.

Bai Ruozhu’s heart ached. He was probably afraid of being driven away, so he bore it and didn’t hit back, right?

She went over to look at the hedgehog. Fortunately, it was only knocked out by Jiang Yichun and not dead.

"Stop fighting, your little Hao is not dead." Bai Ruozhu took a silver needle and tried to administer acupuncture to the porcupine, but couldn’t pierce its skin. She had no choice but to tell the frenzied member of the barbarian tribe, "It’s in a coma, you should try to wake it up first."

Only then did the barbarian stop attacking Jiang Yichun. Sangta glared at Jiang Yichun unhappily and said, "If you want to hunt, go farther away. All the creatures around here are our Beast Pets."

After everyone dispersed, Jiang Yichun walked up to Bai Ruozhu with a look of embarrassment and said in a muffled voice, "Thank you just now."

He hung his head as if he were a child who had done something wrong, which softened Bai Ruozhu’s heart slightly, "Forget it, you accompany them to learn how to prepare the Cistanche."

Was that to say he would be her assistant? Jiang Yichun perked up again and couldn’t help asking, "What is our child’s name? Why can’t I remember it?"

Bai Ruozhu got irritated as soon as she heard this, "If you can’t remember, then think harder. What I tell you isn’t your own memory, it’s no different from the memories Honglian forced on you."

"Are you feeling better?" Jiang Yichun hesitated for a long time before finally mustering the courage to ask.

"What do you think?" Bai Ruozhu said before turning and heading back into the tent.

In the following two days, Bai Ruozhu clarified the method of preparation to the members of the Barbarian Tribe and then said, "Whether or not you can successfully cultivate it will depend on your own experiments and understanding. Once you master this method, you must teach it to more of your people. I don’t want to hear about you keeping secrets."

Several people bowed and swore that they would not keep secrets.

Finally, Jianqi and his group arrived at the Barbarian Tribe settlement. Inside that specially made horse carriage were Hao Feng and Fen Wan. Seeing that Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun were both unharmed brought the group nearly to tears of relief. However, when they learned that Jiang Yichun was still not fully recovered from the Evil Technique and had even stabbed Bai Ruozhu, their expressions turned indescribably odd.

"Doesn’t our master always say that those who dare to hurt his wife will be shown no mercy? After he fully recovers and remembers that he hurt his wife, will he kill himself?" Muyu whispered to Chen Feng.

Chen Feng kicked him promptly, "It’d be more like me killing you to vent my frustration."

"Why did you hit me? You think I’m afraid of you? Come on, we haven’t sparred in a long time. I won’t hold back this time!" Muyu bellowed.

"Pathetic fool, utterly boring." Chen Feng dropped these eight words and went straight to Jiang Yichun’s side.

Sangta’s mood was very low. Bai Ruozhu saw this but chose to pretend otherwise until she took the initiative to tell Sangta they would be departing in two days. Sangta suddenly grabbed her hand and said, "Haven’t you seen how I’ve treated you these days? I even helped save him because I didn’t want to see you sad. If you were given a chance to choose again, would you choose me?"

Bai Ruozhu wasn’t untouched by Sangta’s sentiments; beneath his cavalier appearance hid a tender heart. However, they had met at the wrong time. Even if she had met Sangta and Jiang Yichun at the same time, she would have still chosen Jiang Yichun.

"Sangta, I can be your friend. If you ever need help in the future, I will certainly do my best. But even if given another chance, I wouldn’t choose you." Seeing Sangta’s disheartened look, she bit her lip and cruelly said, "We have too many differences. Whether it’s our way of life or our beliefs, there are too many things that set us apart. You’ve only seen the best of me, but if we really lived together, you would find it hard to adapt to each other."

Sangta gave a bitter smile, "If the Barbarian Tribe succeeds in cultivating Cistanche, where would we need to go out and rob? You don’t like me killing; if there’s a way, I won’t kill anymore."
