Chapter 1412: Chapter 1414: Hiding and Watching_1

At that time, one of Sangta’s subordinates brought back several wolves, with Bai Ruozhu’s Xiaohei trailing behind. She had previously found a secluded spot to release Xiaohei from the Space, and Xiaohei was having an exceptionally good time hunting in the mountain forest.

Xiaohei approached Bai Ruozhu, rubbing his black head against her body, acting all spoiled and cute. Bai Ruozhu gently stroked its head, her lips curving into a slight smile. Seeing Xiaohei lifted her spirits somewhat.

From a distance, Jiang Yichun curled his lips, not expecting that the woman would keep beasts just like the Barbarian Tribe. What’s the point of being with those ferocious beasts, they all stink.

But why, when he saw her touching the black panther’s head, did he feel a twinge of envy and a desire to touch it as well?

That scene seemed familiar to him as if he had seen it before, yet he couldn’t remember where.

Suddenly, Xiaohei’s head twisted sharply towards where Jiang Yichun was hiding, and a pair of black eyes emitted a Cold Light. With a roar, it charged towards Jiang Yichun’s hiding spot.

Sangta’s subordinate was shocked, thinking they were being tracked by an enemy, and also commanded his wolves to catch the person. Animals have the keenest noses, and they quickly found Jiang Yichun’s location.

Jiang Yichun was taken by surprise, jumping out from behind the tree and exposing himself to Bai Ruozhu and Sangta’s eyes.

"Seems like it’s only him," Sangta observed, closely examining the surroundings.

Bai Ruozhu felt a momentary joy in her heart, but it quickly cooled off, as if someone had doused her with cold water.

Jiang Yichun, noticing the woman looking at him, didn’t know why he felt both joy and Nervousness. He thought about the sword he had stabbed her with and wanted to go forward to inquire about her injury, but he also felt he had no face to approach her. How could he have stabbed her?

Thinking back, his thrust had aimed for a vital spot. If she hadn’t shifted slightly at the last moment, she might have already died by his hand.

With that thought, he felt as though he had plunged into an Ice cave, his whole body about to freeze over. Had he gone mad? Why had he struck so viciously?

He didn’t know why he had acted that way, as if someone was controlling him.

Growl... With a sound, Xiaohei suddenly accelerated and rapidly closed the distance to Jiang Yichun, and with a gnaw, he bit down on his butt!

Jiang Yichun, still lost in thought, hadn’t expected the panther, which had just been tenderly licking the woman’s palm, to suddenly pounce and bite him—and on the butt, no less!

He leaped up high with a shout, running even faster with his light-footed Skill.

On Sangta’s side, a burst of laughter erupted, the once ice-cold man who would not let him get close to Bai Ruozhu now not only lacked his former domineering air but was even sneaking peeks at them from a distance. Had their roles been swapped?

It did seem so. He had been chased and attacked by Jiang Yichun’s subordinates before, and now, wasn’t Jiang Yichun being chased by his subordinates with beasts?

Bai Ruozhu pouted, her face revealing a look of vindication. Her Xiaohei was so understanding, knowing to help her vent her anger like that. That bastard deserved a good bite on the butt to feel both pain and embarrassment.

However, anger aside, she couldn’t completely ignore him. She also noticed Jiang Yichun was alone, and couldn’t help but raise her eyebrows and shout, "Jiang Yichun, stop right there!"

She yelled so fiercely that it hurt her wounded shoulder, and she couldn’t help but reach out to gently cover the wound, her face showing a pained expression.

Jiang Yichun had no idea what was happening, let alone that Bai Ruozhu was calling for him, and he had not seen Bai Ruozhu’s pained expression. He ran off without looking back.

Sangta hurriedly looked at Bai Ruozhu. "Should I go catch him and bring him back?"

"Forget it, If he has freed himself from Honglian’s control, he will come back. If this is a trap set by Honglian, wouldn’t you be falling right into it? You have helped me too much already; I cannot let you take any more risks," Bai Ruozhu said.

Sangta’s heart was stirred with excitement. His Ruozhu was concerned about his safety—could it be that she now regarded him as more important than that man?

It took her quite a while to recover her strength, and though her wound was no longer as painful, the resolute way he had left still caused her heart to ache anew.

"You think he has broken free from Honglian’s control? Is Honglian dead?" Bai Ruozhu began to speculate. "The poison I fed Honglian was extremely potent—under normal circumstances, no one could cure it."

Sangta shook his head. "I think Honglian would not resign herself to death so easily. She has sacrificed herself to the Evil God; after her death, she will endure great pain, and even her soul won’t find release. Someone like her would not let herself die easily."

Thinking of Honglian’s grey hair and black lips, Bai Ruozhu sneered, "She’s no better than this, hurting the enemy a thousand times while harming herself eight hundred. That’s all she’s capable of."

"Now she’s nothing but a homeless cur, even if she survives, she has neither human nor ghostlike appearance; her day of reckoning will come sooner or later," Sangta huffed twice.

Bai Ruozhu looked at him. "Weren’t you supposed to cooperate with her to seek Chang Sheng? Aren’t you afraid your father will blame you if you don’t deal with her?"

Sangta snorted disdainfully, his eyes filled with loathing. "Come on, you’ve seen her turn people into monsters that eat corpses, and they’re still under her control. We Barbarians may desire Chang Sheng, but we would not disgrace ourselves like that."

Indeed, turning into such flesh corpses—how could that be true Chang Sheng? Just looking at Jin Jing, one could guess becoming a flesh corpse must be enormously painful.

That night, owing to her painful wounds, Bai Ruozhu went to bed early, but she couldn’t sleep soundly. Jiang Yichun’s figure kept appearing in her mind. She felt a bit stubborn and didn’t want to care about whether he lived or died—who asked him to be a bastard and stab her? But ultimately, she couldn’t bear it and after some thought, she decided to talk to Sangta the next morning and set out to look for Jiang Yichun.

By the next day, because Bai Ruozhu had used excellent medicine and benefited from the healing effects of the Spatial Hot Spring, her injuries had healed considerably, and her complexion was not so pale anymore.

"Sangta, I’ve thought about it, let’s go look for him in the nearby area," Bai Ruozhu said directly to Sangta when he came to see her.

A look of dejection flashed in Sangta’s eyes, and Bai Ruozhu caught his reaction, feeling a twinge of regret, but she could only pretend she had seen nothing.

"You’re not yet fully recovered, and it’s not good for you to exert yourself. I’ll take my men and look for him," Sangta said.

"I’m already much better. It seems he remembered something about me, so maybe it’s better if I go look for him," Bai Ruozhu insisted.

Sangta was somewhat worried about her health, but seeing her relatively healthy complexion, he had no choice but to nod and agree.

Seeing that Bai Ruozhu was going out, Xiaohei let out a soft growl, walked over, and lay down in front of her, displaying a "I’ll carry you there" stance. Bai Ruozhu, a bit concerned, touched his flank and said, "Your ribs were broken, just healed a few days ago. What if I crush them again?"
