Chapter 1409: Chapter 1411: Wake Up Quickly!_1

Huh, why does she know about the poison? It doesn’t seem like her memory contains knowledge of poisons?

Suddenly, she clutched her head in agony and crouched down on the ground, "My head hurts so much, who am I? Why are my memories all different?"

Sangta jumped in fright, wondering if she was about to break free from his control again. He gripped the small porcelain bottle in his hand tightly but then remembered Honglian’s instruction to administer a pill once a day, and dared not give Bai Ruozhu any extra. Reluctantly, he put the medicine away.

In the end, Bai Ruozhu fainted from the pain. Seeing her agonized expression, Sangta couldn’t help but ask himself, "Is this really right? Do I truly possess her like this?"

Before they knew it, another day had passed, and they had drawn closer to the Barbarian Tribe. Around midday, Bai Ruozhu’s headache returned, so severe that she couldn’t straighten her waist, and large beads of sweat formed on her forehead.

Sangta hurriedly took out the medicine to give to her, but she suddenly looked up with a sharp gaze and said sternly, "I refuse to be someone else’s slave. If you still have any respect, throw the medicine away!"

"You’re lucid?" Sangta was taken aback. Seeing the confidence in Honglian made him believe that Bai Ruozhu would not break free from control, at least not for these three days.

"I don’t know how long I will remain lucid, but I don’t want to live in a fabricated world. Every time I look at your face, it feels like there is another face hidden underneath, and I only realize when I’m clear-headed that the face I don’t recognize is my husband’s. Do you really think this is good for you, for me?" Bai Ruozhu spoke a flurry of words in one breath, but because her head hurt so much, she began to gasp for air.

Sangta stood there, stunned, with an expression of both confusion and conflict. Eventually, he lifted his hand and threw the porcelain bottle given by Honglian furiously away.

Bai Ruozhu heaved a sigh of relief and said weakly, "Thank you."

She owed him another favor.

"She will appear again in two days. I think only by killing her will you be freed from control," Sangta said gravely.

Bai Ruozhu hadn’t had the chance to speak before her gaze turned vacant again, reverting to the "brainwashed" version of herself.

Although she looked at Sangta with utmost adoration, Sangta still felt that the real her was more comforting to him. He sighed inwardly – had he developed a masochistic tendency?

In the following two days, Bai Ruozhu’s moments of lucidity grew longer each time. It seemed she would soon fully recover to her true self. Whenever she woke up, Sangta would discuss his plans with her, even proactively suggesting that if they couldn’t kill Honglian, they should still try to rescue Jiang Yichun.

This touched Bai Ruozhu somewhat, making her feel even more indebted to him. He just laughed and said, "We Barbarians admire heroes. That Bai Shu, even though he’s somewhat displeasing to the eye, is still quite a character. I don’t want to see him controlled by an Evil Technique."

Bai Ruozhu rolled her eyes – what did he mean by ’displeasing to the eye’? Was it because of his extreme handsomeness that he easily incurred envy?

In the blink of an eye, the third day had arrived. Sangta was now in the territory of the Barbarian Clan, and had summoned many subordinates to his side. Bai Ruozhu regained consciousness before noon and felt that she would remain lucid for even longer today.

Indeed, when noon arrived, Honglian showed up as expected, followed still by Yuefeng, Jiang Yichun, and Jin Jing.

Honglian even intentionally had Jiang Yichun help her dismount, while envy flashed through Jin Jing’s eyes behind her, as if she was itching to kill Honglian right then and there.

Bai Ruozhu clutched her head in pain while covertly observing the four people. Seeing Jiang Yichun’s unfocused eyes, a pang of heartache gripped her.

Could he really not remember her at all? How could he go to support Honglian, even though it was through a sleeve, it still made her feel extremely uncomfortable. Once she had him back, she’d settle the score with this dead man properly!

"Sangta, how’s your consideration going?" Honglian’s face bore a smile that suggested she held all the cards, pity she didn’t know someone had already slipped from her grasp.

Sangta pretended to gnash his teeth, casting a reluctant glance at Bai Ruozhu, and asked, "How often will you give me the medicine?"

"Since we’re going to be partners, I’ll give you the formulas directly, how about that?" Honglian, seeing Sangta about to agree, walked over in high spirits.

"Give me some first this time, I need time to find someone to refine the medicine," Sangta said.

Honglian nodded, "Alright, no problem. Aren’t you going to invite me into your tent to discuss our partnership?"

As she spoke, she handed a porcelain bottle to Sangta. Sangta reached out to take the bottle but suddenly his eyes flashed a cold light, and he grabbed Honglian’s wrist. Following swiftly, he pulled her in and his other hand came from behind to strangle her throat tightly.

"How dare you!" Yuefeng shouted in anger, drawing his sword and chopping towards Sangta, not expecting that Bai Ruozhu, who was still clutching her head in pain, would suddenly burst over, throwing a handful of Anti-corpse Powder straight at Yuefeng.

Yuefeng screamed miserably, covering his head and face as he rolled on the ground. Honglian, seething with rage, her face turning green, glared at Bai Ruozhu and shouted, "How come you’re not under control? You shouldn’t have regained your senses! No, it’s not possible, did Sangta refuse to give you the medicine? But it wouldn’t be so fast!"

Bai Ruozhu raised her hand and slapped Honglian across the face, "Am I someone who can be controlled by just anyone? From the first day, I had already regained some of my senses. You’ve miscalculated!"

"No! This cannot be!" Honglian cried out, her voice severely strangled, like a duck whose neck was being squeezed. She had given so much for this plan, had even offered herself to the Evil God, meaning even in death her soul would find no peace. Yet, she still chose this path, all because she sought vengeance, to make her live in endless torment.

On the other hand, knowing the consequences of sacrificing to the Evil God, she feared death and persisted in wanting to partner with Sangta to pursue their original research, which might find a way for her to be immortal.

Bai Ruozhu sneered coldly, and with a thought, a pill appeared on her fingertip. Taking advantage of Honglian’s scream, she threw it directly into her mouth.

Suddenly, she felt a cold breeze on her back. Instinctively, she rolled to the side, and a sword chopped down, slicing through her robe and even cutting off a few strands of her hair.

"Achun, it’s me, it’s Ruozhu, your wife. Wake up, please. Do you really want to kill me?" Bai Ruozhu dodged as she called out to him.

Unfortunately, Jiang Yichun continued to attack her with an indifferent face. Bai Ruozhu gritted her teeth, if she could just touch Jiang Yichun, she would take the risk of her secret being discovered and pull him into her Space; it would be worth it to stay there for a while just to let his mind recover.

With that thought, she stopped dodging, allowing him to get close, only then would she have a chance to touch him!

"Achun, I can remember everything now. Calm down and think hard, think about the time we spent together, think about our son Little Dengdeng!" Bai Ruozhu urged rapidly, staring into his eyes.

He moved closer and closer, his sword stabbing straight at her. At that moment, a sliver of hope arose in her heart; she believed he could never bring himself to seriously harm her and would stop at the last moment, isn’t that how it always happened in the TV dramas?
