Chapter 1274: Chapter 1276: Consider It Dog Food_1

Master Lin was stunned. He was not in any way affiliated with Jin Wanliang; in fact, Jin Wanliang still owed him money for escort services. Why would he bear the responsibility for the doctor’s fees?

He cleared his throat twice and said to Jin Jing, "Miss Jin, what about the medical fees?"

Jin Jing cast a displeased glance at Bai Ruozhu, "My father hasn’t even regained consciousness, who knows if her treatment was genuinely effective? Aren’t doctors supposed to be compassionate and kind-hearted? Why are you only concerned about money?"

"It’s the Bodhisattvas who are kind-hearted, I’m just a mortal. It’s only right and proper for me to charge for my medical services; if you can’t afford it, then stop complaining," Bai Ruozhu retorted, her temper flaring. This missy must have a screw loose, always acting as if everyone owes her something, as if not serving her is an unpardonable sin. She had just threatened her a moment ago; she was practically asking for a beating.

"You..." Jin Jing wanted to continue arguing with Bai Ruozhu, but Master Lin hurriedly pulled her back and calmed her down. Only then did she cast a glare at Bai Ruozhu. Suddenly, she threw two silver banknotes onto the ground, saying, "This is your reward. When my father wakes up, naturally he’ll reward you again. But if anything happens to him, I will never let you off!"

Jiang Yichun suddenly stepped forward, his face set to blow up in anger. Bai Ruozhu quickly pulled him back, as it wasn’t the time to reveal their identities.

Jin Jing staggered back three steps and fell to the ground, frightened by Jiang Yichun’s glare; she felt as though he might kill her, similar to the terror she felt with the Beast Team.

Bai Ruozhu pulled Jiang Yichun and started walking back. "Forget it, I don’t want the consultation fee; consider it as if I fed a dog." She said this without even glancing at the silver banknotes on the ground and stepped right over them.

If the patient had been anyone else, she wouldn’t have even mentioned the consultation fee, or if they had been willing to pay, even a few silver coins would have been fine with her; it was the gesture that mattered. But to throw the money on the ground like that, even if it were thousands of silver coins, she wouldn’t care for it.

Jin Jing’s gaze was still fixed on Jiang Yichun. She was frightened by him but soon became transfixed by his appearance; she had never seen such a handsome man before, and although his cold demeanor was somewhat scary, he truly was unforgettable after just one glance.

"Miss Jin, this, this..." Master Lin sighed heavily. Without a doctor, and having finally encountered one with remarkable medical skills, why didn’t they try to establish a good relationship instead of offending her?

Regaining her composure, Jin Jing saw Bai Ruozhu stepping on her silver banknotes, as if stepping on her face, embarrassing her. The sight of Bai Ruozhu clinging to Jiang Yichun’s arm made her even angrier, to the point where she almost wished she could rush over and slash off Bai Ruozhu’s hand with a sword. How dare such riffraff taint the man she coveted?

"You’re not allowed to leave!" Jin Jing got up and tried to block their way. "Who knows if you’ve saved or harmed my father; you can leave only when he wakes up!"

Jin Jing’s voice rose noticeably, irritated by the sight of Bai Ruozhu pulling Jiang Yichun. At that moment, Prince Sangta in the distance heard the noise and looked toward the small hill with suspicion.

"Prince Sangta, what’s the matter?" asked one of his subordinates.

Just then, a deep and distant horn sounded. Due to the great distance, the sound was not very clear and could easily have been missed if one wasn’t listening carefully. Sangta’s expression changed, and he said to his subordinates, "Grab our belongings; we need to head back!"

Bai Ruozhu was watching Sangta’s reactions intently and took a deep breath. If it weren’t for the unexpected sound of the horn, they would have truly been trapped by this Miss Jin.

The Beast Team moved with exceptional speed, quickly retreating into the distance and soon vanishing from everyone’s sight.

The people on Jin Wanliang’s side sighed with relief, many collapsing to the ground as if their strength had left them.

"What, are you scared? Are you afraid of being exposed as a fake doctor, thinking of running away now?" Jin Jing shouted at Bai Ruozhu, no longer restrained now that Sangta had left.

Jiang Yichun had long wanted to smack Jin Jing. He was not a scholar, and he had no rules against laying hands on women. After all, had he not been able to act against female criminals he had captured before?

However, Bai Ruozhu stopped him once again, signaling him not to stoop to the level of such a young girl.

"Fine, since you so wish for your father to wake up, I shall make him wake up now," she said with a cold smile on her lips. Originally, Jin Wanliang had been severely poisoned. Even after the poison was neutralized, his body was extremely weak. His present unconscious state was a form of the body’s self-regulation, aiding the patient to better recover his essence. That was why she had not awakened Jin Wanliang, but since his daughter was insistent, it would not be her fault anymore.

She pulled out a silver needle and swiftly inserted it into Jin Wanliang’s body. Then she twisted it and pulled it out.

"What are you doing!" Jin Jing cried out in alarm once again.

But at that moment, Jin Wanliang slowly opened his eyes, and the Lin clan leader showed a look of joy, exclaiming, "Wonderful, boss Jin has truly awakened!"

"What happened to me? I thought I was not going to make it," Jin Wanliang asked weakly.

Jin Jing rushed to her father and began to cry, "Dad, you were bitten by a poisonous snake. It scared me to death. Thank heavens, thank the divine protector, you’ve finally pulled through."

Bai Ruozhu scoffed. Shouldn’t the thanks be directed at her?

But right now, she really couldn’t be bothered to argue with Jin Jing. She turned and went back to her spot, asking Jiang Yichun in a soft voice, "Is it safe for us to leave now?"

Jiang Yichun took her hand and said, "Why did you stop me? To take such wrongful grievances?"

Bai Ruozhu glanced at him, looking indignant as if he were the one wronged, and suddenly felt her mood lighten. She laughed out loud.

"Who said I was aggrieved? It’s just watching a jumping clown, that’s all. Are you heartbroken over this? I just didn’t want to expose my true power in front of all these people."

Jiang Yichun helplessly rubbed her cheek. "Yes, my heart aches. Normally, it’s already good enough that you don’t bully others, let alone being the one aggrieved."

"Oh, listen to you, I sound like a shrewish woman. When in life do we not encounter provocations? Can we be angry about everything?" Bai Ruozhu retorted, giving him a playful glare.

Jiang Yichun held her hand and said, "The horn signals that Sangta heard belong to the Barbarian Clan’s gathering command; there must be something important happening within their tribe. It seems they won’t return any time soon."

Bai Ruozhu sniffed. The air was still thick with the scent of blood. "Then let’s leave quickly." She didn’t want to stay another second.

"Alright." Jiang Yichun signaled to Chenfeng and the others; everyone got up, harnessed the carriages, and herded the horses, quickly heading down the small hill.

Jin Wanliang, now aware of his snakebite ordeal, wanted to personally thank the female doctor. But his body was too weak to get up. He thought to have himself carried over, only to realize that the doctor and her group were preparing to leave.

He scolded his daughter and asked his servant to go apologize to Bai Ruozhu. He also proposed that their two groups travel together for mutual support and protection.
