A Villain's POV -
Chapter 35: Killing a rank one beast
Chapter 35: Killing a rank one beast
Raze took a deep breath after the beast got free to make sure that he didn’t panic. He watched it as it got ready to charge at him. He had a plan in mind, but it would require him to watch very closely and not make a single mistake.
The beast charged at him again, rushing like a pit of out-of-control bulls. Raze held up his sword. When the beast was only a letter away, Raze moved. He used Void Step and vanished in that instant.
His speed was so fast that the beast could not react to it. Raze planted his feet behind the beast and went for a slash. The beast reacted and turned to block the attack, but Raze was ready for that. He moved again, used Void Step for the second time, and got behind the beast while it was in the middle of swinging its fist.
As Raze got behind the beast, he stabbed with a full-powered thrust. His blade pierced the thick hide of the beast and made it inside deeply.
The beast roared in pain. This was the second time that it had gotten stabbed, and it was not a pleasant feeling.
It swung its fist backward to get rid of Raze, but Raze was already ahead of it. He used Void Step to take a step back and pull out his sword.
But what Raze didn’t expect was that the beast would actually move in for a two-punch combo, because as the first punch missed, the beast used its other two arms and threw a second attack. And with a step forward, the punch managed to get to Raze.
It was so fast and unexpected that Raze didn’t even have the time to use his dome, so he instinctively used his sword and blocked the punch. The two fists collided with the sword, and the force sent Raze flying.
Raze slammed against a tree. He coughed up blood and fell to the ground. The beast roared into the air and struck its chest repeatedly with all arms.
Raze managed to keep himself awake, but this was getting too much for his body to handle. He wouldn’t be able to take another hit like that.
He got on his feet and looked at the sword in his hands. He noticed that it was slightly bent from the punch. He was actually shocked it didn’t break.
His arms felt numb, like a shock had run through them. His sight was getting more hazy by the second. He struggled to keep his focus. Even as a drop of blood slid down his face from a cut on his head into his eyes, he didn’t move.
He waited for the right moment. The beast charged at him again. It leapt into the air with two fists ready to drive Raze into the ground.
When the time was right, Raze used Void Step to move out of the way. The fists slammed into the ground and formed a small crater.
Raze didn’t miss a beat. He followed up with a slash, and for the first time, he actually used his Phantom Blade technique. His blade approached the beast, and it tried to block.
But the blade vanished as soon as it touched the arm of the beast. The beast was shocked at the sudden development. It opened its arms, but that was the mistake, as the real blade passed right at that moment and cut into the neck of the beast, digging deeply, cutting several inches into the neck.
The beast roared in pain and fell to the floor, writhing in agony. Raze didn’t want this beast to get up again, so he started firing spatial blades at it until he had turned its face into minced meat.

When Raze heard the notification, he knew that he had killed a Rank One beast. A wave of satisfaction washed over his body as he looked at the beast lying on the ground.
The EXP gained was so much higher than that of the unranked beast. He had leveled up and had even gained a good amount of SP. Despite the fact that he had almost died in this fight, he was happy with the results he got.
He walked to a tree nearby and sat down. He leaned his back against the wall and turned on his stat interface.

He had grown quite a bit since he came to this world. It had only been a few days since he arrived, but now it was like he was a totally different person.
After resting for a bit, Raze got up and went to check on Joel. Joel was still passed out on the floor. Raze looked at him with a pissed-off expression.
"Sleeping even after doing nearly nothing, you stupid pig," Raze said, then kicked Joel to the side. The sharp pain from the kick immediately woke Joel up. His eyes shot open, and his hand went to where he had been kicked, holding it and groaning in pain.
"Argggh!" he cried out.
"Shut your mouth, you overgrown baby," Raze said and started walking. Joel quickly got on his feet. He looked at the body of the beast that was lying on the ground, and he realized that Raze had actually defeated a Rank One beast.
He had seen the strength of that beast. He knew for sure that he would have died if he had been left alone with it.
"If you are done gawking at the body, follow me. I have to wash my injuries off in the stream," Raze said and continued walking.
Joel ripped his eyes away from the corpse of the beast and followed Raze. Every moment since they came into this forest, he found out that he didn’t know Raze at all. The Raze he knew was talented, but he should not have been able to take on a Rank One beast.
