Chapter 27: Billy Osborne

Raze walked out of the office with a smile, the system had given him a mission that he was actually eager to do.

When he was outside, he shut the door and let out a deep breath. The secretary didn’t pay any attention to him as he walked out of the office.

He was fine for the day. He had covered a good amount of ground today; it was time he rested. He headed out of the academic building and back to his dorm to rest.

When he arrived at his dorm, he lay on the bed to rest a bit, and in a few seconds, he slowly drifted off to sleep.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

The sound of knocks forced Raze out of his sleep. His eyes shot open—the knocks continued.

"Who the hell is that?" he complained and rolled off his bed. From the darkness in the room, he figured it was already night. He walked to his table and lit his lamp.

He walked to the door. "Who is it?" he asked while using the back of his hand to scratch his eyes. He stretched and let out a loud yawn.

"It’s me, Joel," the person outside the door responded.

Raze unlocked the door and opened it. Joel stood there with a book in his hands.

Even though he was the one who came to see Raze, he flinched when the door opened, like he wasn’t expecting it to.

"What are you waiting for, an invite?" Raze asked.

Joel took that as his cue to enter. He walked into the room, and Raze closed the door behind him.

"Sit wherever," Raze said as he walked to his cupboard to pick out another shirt that was bigger and more comfortable.

Joel walked to the chair near the table and sat down. He stayed put like someone who had been kidnapped, trying his best not to even look around.

Raze finished changing into a gray shirt. He noticed Joel’s behavior and couldn’t help but chuckle. "It’s not like I’m going to kill you or something. You can be free, Joel," Raze said, trying to lighten the mood.

But it had the contrary effect and made Joel tighten up because why would Raze say anything that suggested killing him?

Raze let out a tired sigh and walked to the bed. He sat down in a relaxing position.

"Alright, lay it on me. What did you get today, or did you disappoint me?" Raze asked, his eyes turning sharp as he said the last part.

"I managed to find something. There are not many people with the ability to do what you specified. Walking through walls is not unheard of, but it’s not too common.

It is something mostly space-type mages can do, and even among them, only a few people can master the spells needed to do that.

It is also not something a first-year should be capable of doing. But I didn’t want to make any mistakes, so I went ahead and checked all the years as best as I could.

I spent the whole day asking around, using a fake space-type survey as an excuse to get the information. From first-year to fourth-year, I only found over twenty space users.

I ran a check on those in the first year, and from what is known, they have no wall-passing spells in their arsenal yet, so I ruled out the seven of them.

After that, I moved to the second and third years. I decided not to dig into the fourth year. They have really serious issues to deal with, and they are hardly ever in the academy.

Though some of them stay in the academy most of the time, the two space users of the fourth year are part of the council and are hardly ever around.

The third years and the second years were where I needed to focus more, and when I did, it didn’t take long for me to find out that there was a second-year who once dodged an attack in training, letting it pass through him.

He is a noble, and he goes by the name Billy Osborne. That’s all the information I could get on him," Joel said. He stared at Raze, unsure of how Raze would take what he told him.

"Wow, you are better at this information-gathering stuff than I thought. I gave you a day, and you managed to get a name for me.

That’s nice, so I’ll keep my side of the deal. I’ll help you be one of the ten chosen during the preliminary. All you have to do for me is make sure that you follow everything I say and do whatever I ask without question.

Do you understand?" Raze asked.

"Yes, I do. I understand," Joel said quickly.

"Good. Now you can head back or stay—I don’t really mind—but you have to be ready for tomorrow. The preliminaries start tomorrow, after all," Raze said.

Joel got up from the chair. He nodded at Raze and walked to the door. He tried to make his steps seem unhurried, but Raze could see that he was rushing.

Joel opened the door and walked out of the room. He closed it. Raze heard his footsteps getting farther away.

When he could no longer hear the footsteps, he got up from the bed and walked to his chair. He sat down and pulled out his journal. He took his pen and wrote a name down.

Billy Osborne.

He wrote it in English and circled the name.

He placed the pen down and closed the book before returning to his bed.

The new day came faster than anyone had expected. The rays of sunlight announced the day, and the sounds of the bell rang loudly, waking up students.

It was finally the day of the preliminaries, and everyone was either hyped or scared about it. Different emotions filled the first years as they all got ready for it.

Silva was no different because today, he would be starting off a plan that would really rock the academy.
