Chapter 72: Unlockable Almanac Upgrades

After all the incidents these past few days happened, Elaina finally found a little time for herself to relax. Although she is not tired entirely, she needs time for herself to sort everything out properly. Knowing that the two companions she has are busy with whatever they are doing inside the house, Elaina opens the Almanac.

She has had little contact with the Unknown god for quite a while now but perhaps the guy is just busy since even the Goddess of Taming is also quite quiet as well. Elaina can understand that even the gods do have their time of relaxation so she didn’t mind it. She just thought it felt different having those gods who keep on tab with you to be gone for a while.

Opening the Almanac, Elaina notices that the book is thicker than usual. She is quite sure it wasn’t this thick before. Sure it was a thick book, but the pages seem to have doubled. It’s like 3 volumes of thick history books detailing the history of the kingdom or something as thick as an adult’s arm.

As she flipped on a few pages, she noticed one page containing the Feys. A specific section meant for the Feys.

"Looks like the Unknown God already added functionality for me to view what these little guys can do huh?"

There is plenty of info there but she finally confirms what the Fey do.

"Feys are known for being the first fae folks to ever exist. Their names are derived from the name "Fae" which means fates. Because most of the fae folk have different abilities, not all fae folk can do what other fae folk can do.

Now the Feys, are the subspecies of fae folk that are capable of doing farm work. They are known as the spirits of the farm as they are the ones known by most farmers as the "one who blesses the farmland" as they believe that they are the ones who make the land fertile. In reality, although they can boost the harvest, they can’t make the land fertile. They do help with the work of the farm which in turn doubles the work result done which then makes the farmers who can’t see them think the land has been fertilized by the Feys.

Although they are small in size, they are very capable at work and they are not just slow workers. They also tend to even care for animals but they are less efficient on them compared to working with the land but they still do decent work. After work, they tend to like to take a few harvests from the farmer’s crops as an act of repayment or if the farmer somehow knew their presence, an offering on them would increase their work capabilities."

Elaina had finally gotten some decent ideas on how the new workers she hired. Although there are some more fae folk, it seems the Feys are more focused on the farm work. The little guy didn’t lie to her.

She flipped to the next page and she saw the pages of the four feys that she immediately recognized. The feys just moved underneath the nearby tree. It detailed there their capabilities, their abilities, how happy they were, and how tired they were.

"This is a very great way to know if they are going to need some rest or not. Even if they are working for me, I hate it when I force them to work if there is something wrong with them. This will come in handy in the future."

Elaina checked the remaining pages that she had not seen before. Most of the new pages she saw are some updated information regarding some vegetables and other stuff that she might need in the future. She doesn’t need it right now but she will surely need it soon.

After flipping through the "should be final page" of the almanac, she realized that the former final page has become part of the center page now. The next pages though...for some reason, Elaina can’t flip through them. It was like it got stuck to something sticky or it was glued together. She tried but it didn’t work at all.

Not only that but most of the remaining pages are like that and she doesn’t understand what happened.

"Did these perhaps get in this wonky state after it was updated by the unknown god?" Elaina asked herself as she tried to see how this would even work out.

"[No. You are just not yet qualified to flip through those pages right now which is why you can’t do that.]" The goddess of taming’s message box appeared before Elaina.

"Oh, you are back. You guys seem to have gone for quite some time," Elaina felt relieved for some reason that there was someone out there communicating with her once again.

"[The gods have some meeting and discussion regarding many things and we ended up probably giving you more work than you might be able to handle]"

"A meeting? So that means..."

"[Yeah, the other guy that gave you this almanac? He is currently busy sorting out those new pages of the almanac to add it there as an addition for later.]"

"I have been meaning to ask but what are these pages? They are so thick that I don’t think they are just here because they got glued over. They might be something useful or something?" Elaina speculated.

"[You are half right. Although I am not too sure if these will be helpful to you. Since the other god is busy, I will take the liberty of explaining. As you can see, these are what he called Unlockable Almanac Upgrades that are meant for you. It acts as some new information that you can use and utilize yourself. However, these are divided by categories which is why several parts of them seemed to be something stuck for you. And to be able to access them, you have to do certain tasks, that you will need to do. Once you fulfill them, you can access these pages and unlock the contents within.]"

Elaina’s eyes lit up. Although this is the first time she has known this kind of thing, Elaina is rather fond of doing something like completing a quest and getting rewarded for doing so. When hearing this method appears, she can’t help feeling excited. Perhaps, it is some new feeling she has developed recently.

"If that is the case, I am ready. So...how do I do that?"
