A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods
Chapter 65: I Am Just A Farmer

Chapter 65: I Am Just A Farmer

Tabatha opens her eyes. She then started to feel her body and realized that she was fine. But she is not convinced and decides to pull up her shirt and feel her stomach. Nope, not a single recent scar, just some of her old scars just like normal.

"I am quite sure that I was cut by the blade..." she shook her head in confusion. She clearly remembered being cut before she collapsed and lost consciousness.

Just as she was wondering what happened to her, her brother, Prince Julius appeared, carrying a tray of food for her.

"Oh, good timing, you are finally awake. Here, the farmer felt sorry for your defeat so she cooked some food. Eat and replenish your energy reserves. After that fight happened, you needed it."

"Brother? Just...what happened? I am quite sure that I felt I was cut...but when I checked...I didn’t have a single cut. Did someone heal my wounds while I was unconscious?"

"Wounds? Aside from the bruises, there are no blade wounds on your body so there is no way there will be wounds in your body."

"Huh? But...the blade...I am quite sure I got sliced..." Tabatha frowned as she continued to try and feel her stomach she could still remember how she felt the sharp pain registering her body alongside the feeling of being cut open.

"Nah, you didn’t have any of those cuts. Don’t worry about it. They checked your body if the farmer did manage to cut you down but you didn’t have any cuts. Only some bruises that you got after being hit by the scabbard a few times but blade wounds? Nope, just none."

"Really? But you saw it right? I got sliced!"

"Yes, I did see it. But the result remains the same, Tabatha. And according to the farmer, she personally just used a nonlethal attack to defeat you. I don’t know how she did it but she made a sort of false slice that made you feel like you got sliced to pieces when in reality, you are unharmed. Not really on your sword though as it got destroyed during the battle which immediately put the farmer as the winner of the match."

Tabatha felt the attack before. She even thought she would die right there with that attack and yet she is still alive. The opponent didn’t even bother to make it lethal and just made it enough to cause a bit of mental pain and the illusion that she got hit when in reality, she was just not hit at all.

"Don’t feel bad about it, sister. Your opponent is just another breed of beast. I know you are a good fighter but against the farmer just now? I don’t think so. Her speed is something that even I couldn’t match. Her swift cuts by breaking your sword and then putting you in an unconscious state are enough to warrant that she is something else."

As they were talking, Tabatha’s stomach started to growl as she felt hungry.

"How many hours have I been unconscious?" Tabatha asked.

"Three hours. You already went past the time to take lunch so I decided to bring your share which is good timing since you also woke up as I approached. The others have also eaten. Me as well and Margaux too. The only one who hasn’t eaten anything is you so eat up while the soup is hot."

"Where is the farmer?" Tabatha asked as she stood up from the bed.

"She is outside, tending to her plants like usual. You can talk to her after you finish eating your food so just eat."

She glanced at the food on the tray and involuntarily gulped as she smelled the aroma of the food. The soup is just simple and although it looks like the normal soup she usually eats whenever she is in camp with other soldiers or during wartime, the smell is something that she is salivating and seemingly giving her the urge to eat everything in there.

It took her a bit of time before she gave in and decided to start eating. The first prince smiled before leaving his sister to peacefully eat. Tabatha slowly ate the soup and as she swallowed her first taste of the soup, her eyes widened.

"This...is great! This is no ordinary soup! I like it!"

And she started to shovel through the soup without hesitation, eating every single thing she saw inside the bowl. She is not a huge fan of vegetables and more on meat but for the first time in her life, the vegetables she has eaten are something that she didn’t even expect she would voluntarily eat without anyone forcing her to eat them.

Before she knew it, she was full and the food that was in her bowl before was gone. She even licked the bowl clean which even she was surprised about.

"Wow, I didn’t know I would like to eat vegetables this much! And that piece of vegetable that I keep eating that tastes marvelous and juicy is new to my mouth and I like it. Just...how?"

She stood up and glanced at the nearby chair where the armor that she wore earlier was currently folded. As she approached it and pulled it up, she saw that her clothes didn’t have any damage, as opposed to what she clearly remembers where she was sliced.

"So all of what happened was just some sort of an illusion? But no way, if it was an illusion..." She then glanced under her neatly folded clothes and saw the hilt of the sword that she wielded before. Its long blade is gone and the only blade remaining is the chipped bottom of the blade, no longer possible to be used as a weapon. Her sword is one of the toughest weapons she has used and yet it was destroyed so easily. She isn’t upset that her sword is broken, but she is left confused about how it happened so fast that she couldn’t even react to it.

Then, she remembered the words of the shadow soldiers who warned her about the farmer’s ability.

"Perhaps I can ask her to teach me her ways? If I want to be the best, I might as well ask someone stronger than me to teach me the ways of the sword?"

As she was about to try and ask Elaina, the lady in question appeared before her who was currently checking on her.

"Uh...I don’t think I can teach you much, princess. As you can see, I am just a farmer, not a swordswoman. Even if I try to teach you, I don’t think I have the capabilities to teach you anything at all."

"What do you mean? Your skills, the way you fight, those ways of yours are something that I cannot even accomplish easily! Perhaps you can help me with this and train me in the process?"

Elaina scratches her head. "But...what do I even teach you? All of what I learned and how I fight back is something I learned by myself. I don’t think I can efficiently impart my knowledge to you."
