Chapter 63: A Visit from the Royalty

Chapter 63: A Visit from the Royalty

The royalty of Darcero Kingdom. Although inferior in terms of power compared to the Luminiera Kingdom, Darcero Kingdom is not to be underestimated in the slightest. Compared to Luminiera Kingdom which promotes peace, Darcero Kingdom promotes order to establish peace, and that is by strengthening their power with the soldiers and warriors that help deal with outside interference and monsters that occasionally attack. Due to this, many people would want to live in Darcero Kingdom more than Luminiera Kingdom due to the secure life you can live without having to worry about danger in your life.

And to make this a big reality, Darcero Kingdom’s family members are capable of fighting. The First Princess and the one who decided to pursue the path to become a Master Swordswoman is one of the strongest warriors to exist in the kingdom. As for the only prince, he is known as the commander of the army and has won wars in his lifetime. The only reason he is still the prince is because the king is still strong and capable of ruling. Until the king will step down on the throne, the prince will remain as the prince.

And those two same people, are currently standing in front of Elaina right now.

The first princess glances at her sister who hides behind Elaina while Elaina blocks them without fear.

"This is the first time someone who isn’t a nobility fearlessly faces against a royalty like this. Do you know that you can get imprisoned for keeping royalty hostage?" the prince tried to provoke Elaina.

However, Elaina is a former royalty as well and she is not someone who is easily intimidated by this. And handling matters like this is one that she has developed during her time as one. Most people will either cower in fear or just straight-up lash out and argue. But the most logical and best way to stop this treatment is to remain silent but never let the guard down.

The prince was surprised when Elaina didn’t even say anything nor nervousness is shown in her eyes. Instead, her guard remains the same as she was protecting Princess Margaux.

Julia went outside of the house and readied her magic spell immediately as she went to the side of Elaina.

"Who are you people and how dare you threaten, sis!" Julia is ready to defend Elaina with her life on the line.

The guards also raised their weapons as well, when the First Princess stopped them. "Lower your weapons, boys. We are not here to fight," the First Princess ordered.

"Aw, come on, it’s only a few times we have done this kind of thing and you are already spoiling the fun," the prince said scratching his head.

The first princess smacked the head of the prince before shaking her head. "For someone older than us, you are the one who is the childish of us all."

The first princess then turned to look at Elaina and bowed. "We apologize for the behavior that my brother exhibited. Don’t worry. As long as you are not doing something bad, we will not do anything nor throw you into prison. We are just here to see if our little sister is doing okay."

She glances at Princess Margaux who quickly hides behind Elaina. She can only make a disappointed smile.

"Are you all here to take Princess Margaux?" Elaina asked.

"...At first, that was our plan. But we are not so selfish to do that for her. Seeing that she is comfortable with you, it means you lot are not bad people otherwise, she would be happy for us to come to her instead of actively hiding from us."

"So that was your purpose for visit?" Elaina asked while glancing at the soldiers behind them.

"Don’t worry. Although we had soldiers, they were our security forces. With some malicious people around, having security to help will lessen the danger we have while walking around."

"I see. Then, are you all here to talk to her?"

"Can we?" the First Princess asked.

"Only if she agrees then you guys can do so. I am just acting as her guardian for the time being. Therefore, I don’t want Princess Margaux to lose the chance to clear things up with you all."

Elaina then turned around to Princess Margaux who was still hiding behind her.

"Princess, you should talk to them. Don’t worry, if you don’t want to come back just yet, just tell them. Don’t just let them wonder why you ran away. Talk to them about it and perhaps you guys can solve it," Elaina said.

"Okay..." Princess Margaux nodded and slowly walked towards the first princess and the prince to talk.

"Julia, let’s go far from them. This is a private meeting between them and we have no business to this matter aside from keeping Princess Margaux safe."

"Alright sis, but can I ask a question?" Julia asked as they were moving away from the group.

"What is it?" Elaina tilted her head.

"The advice you gave just now, doesn’t that also apply to you as well, Sis?"

Elaina chuckled. "Yes, it also applies to me. But only if the people that I needed to talk to were reasonable enough. Otherwise, it doesn’t matter at all."

Hearing Elaina’s response, Julia nodded in agreement. If the people that Elaina needed to talk to were reasonable people that the problem could be solved by discussing things, then perhaps, it wouldn’t be so bad. But this is Elaina and the people surrounding her, her life is nothing but some big drama that Elaina chooses to either ignore or just never care.

The two waited for the three to finish their little discussion. Elaina is currently checking on the almanac on what she will have to do for the day and if it is ideal to check the forest once more or just stay at home for now while Julia patiently glances at Princess Margaux and the others who continue to discuss things that the two can’t hear. It took some time for them before they finally finished their discussion. Based on the satisfaction on Princess Margaux’s face, it seems their discussions went well.

The First Princess approached both Elaina and Julia and bowed down to them.

"Thank you for taking care of our sister here while she is staying on your farm. Although it may be a bit of an inconvenience for you she will be staying here on your farm for the time being. Although your farmhouse is a bit...not well shaped right now, she said that she enjoyed staying here more than staying at home. So until she becomes bored and wants to return, we will trouble you in having her stay here in the meantime. We will give support to her financially as well as some of her needs. We can even-" Before the first princess can continue, Elaina stops her.

"We are fine with the expenses. And we don’t need money to add to our funds as we can provide for ourselves just fine. Perhaps you should directly give it to the princess instead of us. We don’t want to burden anyone else and we don’t want to make you see us and think that we are taking advantage of your money as we don’t want that. It’s fine for her to remain here just fine. Just visit her once in a while even with your busy schedules and you guys would be good. As for helping us repair the house, it’s fine as well. We will continue with what we are doing until the very time Princess Margaux returns home."

"Why are you disagreeing with this matter? Isn’t it something of a convenience for you to earn money? Then why are you not accepting this? We are already making the favor-" The prince was then stopped by Elaina and she immediately answered.

"Which is why we don’t want it. Because we will be owning favors to the royalty. I hate giving favors to other people and I wanted to equally give people time to give people what they needed to do. Which is why I don’t need that money. Give it to Princess Margaux if you want, just don’t give us any. We don’t want any."

This made the First Princess interested in Elaina all of a sudden.

"Interesting. For someone who isn’t rich, you are more confident than you look. Even denying the financial aid that we are offering," the First Princess slowly approaches.

"Sister! Didn’t I tell you that you shouldn’t do this?" Princess Margaux is a bit perplexed and angry as her sister approaches.

"Don’t worry Margaux, it’s not that bid. I just want to see how capable this person is for her to be this proud. Elaina right? Pick up your sword and fight me. I heard from some of my men that you are a strong swordswoman. I am looking for a good enemy to spar swords with but no one comes close. You can say that it is a bit of a bet."

"A bet?"

"Yes. If I win, then we will help you financially and also help everything regarding the state of your farm to the point that you will flourish now. If we lose though, we will accept your demands to not give you lot a of financial aid. How about it?"

Elaina stood up and with a serious look on her face, she grab her sword.

"Fine."
