A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods -
Chapter 436: New Goal
Chapter 436: New Goal
The future has been shown twice, and both future features a bleak future, full of monsters and filled with carnage, violence, and blood. Something that two of her children have yet to experience. Adelaide is an exception as she experienced many things in the past life, but her children who aren’t reincarnators, they are new to it, and yet, their future is showing things that made even Elaina feel worry.
Adelaide has seen her future and even she frowned. She looked at her mother and she was also worried seeing it. As for Arthur, although the view of his future is not totally what he expected, still seeing how mighty he looked, he rejoiced and started bragging about it.
"Look, I look mighty here yeah? My muscles will grow eventually! I might look lanky right now but I will be someone strong in the future! Monsters! Prepare yourselves!"
As much as Elaina wanted to smile at her son’s excitement, seeing the future, she couldn’t help but be worried. Thankfully, the kids have yet to understand the situation in the future and how things seem to be not going well. After the twins have removed their hands from the Future Ball, the one who went next is naturally Layla. She is also excited about what she will be seeing like the previous two.
"Do you think you will become a mage like Miss Julia and Miss Yona, Layla? Seeing how the future of the boys and Ade seems to be resonating with them, perhaps you too as well?" Mier guessed.
"No idea really. We can just hope that is the case."
Like the others, they are watching what Layla’s future is going to be. As soon as she puts her hands on the Future Ball, the crystal ball begins to shine bright and the group is amazed at what they have seen. Instead of seeing Layla casting magic, what was seen was Layla commanding an ethereal mermaid army and currently floating from the ground. Her tail is visible and her outfit looks similar to what she has seen on the books related to mermaids and how they are seen by the humans. Her head is also adorned with a crown like she is some kind of royalty.
The Grand Sage was surprised to see this result and looked at Elaina. "I didn’t even realize she was a mermaid until the little girl put her hands on the Future Ball! I am impressed, Miss Elaina. For a human, you have no problem interacting and even adopting a demi-human!"
Elaina frowned at hearing this. "Mr. Grand Sage. I know you are not insulting but please, refrain from saying that. Even if Layla is a mermaid and not a human, that doesn’t mean she is someone who I should reject. She is my second daughter and even if she is a mermaid, that doesn’t change that little fact."
The Grand Sage was taken aback by Elaina’s response but he didn’t retaliate and made the mess bigger. "I am sorry. I got a bit insensitive there. It’s just that I wasn’t able to hold my amazement for being able to keep various races on the farm without any discrimination. Considering most humans discriminate and are a bit hostile to the other races, seeing someone who cares about them and even treats them as equals is something that I am not used to."
Elaina also bowed her head. "I am also sorry for getting angry. It’s just that I don’t like making my kids feel like they are different. Layla might be a mermaid but that doesn’t mean she is not with rights. As you said, some people don’t like the likes of Layla which is why I wanted to ensure she feels at home and safe even if I am not her real mother."
Layla heard that and smiled. She already knows the difference between her and her adoptive mother but hearing her be so defensive for her sake and against someone like the Grand Sage, it is just different.
And so, the last one rubbed her hands as she was getting ready to use the Future Ball as well.
"Finally! I can now use the Future Ball and sate my curiosity for so long!" Julia is like a child as she says her piece about the future ball.
"Seriously, I thought you had given up on that. But you still wanted to see your future?" the Grand Sage scratches his head.
"Just because it is a bit mundane doesn’t mean I didn’t want to see my future. I also wanted to see a glimpse of what I would become in the future, see?"
"Alright, alright. Now go and everyone is waiting."
The kids are all excited and are cheering for Julia as the latter prepares herself to touch the crystal ball. Once she makes sure she is ready, Julia approaches and touches the Future Ball, causing it to burst into light and slowly project the future of Julia.
The view showed the same environment as the surroundings that the future of the three kids has shown, a scorched battlefield. Compared to before, the three are nowhere to be found on the projection but Julia’s future only. In the Future Ball, Julia is present and is a bit aged now compared to her current appearance. Her clothes are similar to the Grand Sage and she is wielding two sets of powers. Like the previous two, Julia in the future is fighting against monsters.
"[The future that is being shown is a bit worrying, Elaina.]" the God of Farming said.
"I agree. The situation of the future environment is not something I imagined. Why are they fighting monsters in the first place and why do the future of these kids look like they are desperate?"
"[I am not sure about this, but considering this is a real future that is going to happen, perhaps we are heading into this current future. Whatever it is, this will have a significant impact and perhaps the situation with your children will be different. Perhaps you have a chance to change the future by guiding your children?]"
"And how would I do that?" Elaina asked.
"[Perhaps, you will also have to check your future.]"
Elaina shook her head. "I can’t rely on it, God of Farming. And right now, I don’t think I need to worry about it right now. But I will ensure that these kids will grow well. I will also try to train them soon enough to ensure that even if that future happens, they will gain the ability to fulfill their roles. And I think I needed to push hard on the Farming Mastery so that I can finally upgrade the crops and perhaps finally allow the food to gain something other than nutrition."
The God of Farming grinned upon hearing that. "[I am glad you found some motivation after seeing the future of your kids and your Sister. I hope you have great success in this endeavor soon."
"Of course, who do you think you are talking to? It’s Elaina Sangrande. My farming skills will ensure my children will become who they will be in the future. And the first step is to have healthy crops.
