A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods
Chapter 367: Chance Encounter

Chapter 367: Chance Encounter

The Pope opens his eyes, and he immediately gets up from his bed.

"Your Eminence!"

The Pope looked at his side and saw the panicked look of his followers.

"Wha-what happened? Urgh!" the Pope held his head as he tried to recall the memories before, but all he received was a painful pang of pain, and he did not remember what he was trying to recall.

"Your Eminence, don’t push yourself too hard! You just collapsed suddenly while we were in a meeting. We then rushed you to your room, performed some healing rituals, and realized that you were experiencing something. Are you alright?"

"I... have seen it..."

"Your Eminence?" the others were confused.

"I have seen the revelation. And the ones that we wanted to avoid the most. It seems that the events are happening just as predicted by the Priestess."

"You mean...?!" the priests started to sweat.

The Pope stood up, grabbed his garb on the nearby table, and put it on himself with a determined look on his face.

"We must act now and make our plan to stop it. It is still in the beginning phase. We still have the chance."

"But we don’t know who this destined Mother is going to be!"

"That’s why we need to work more than ever, no? Increase the inspection process and capture all the families who are hiding their twins. They can’t just keep on hiding their twins forever. If we don’t eliminate them now, they will ruin what we have built forever."

Hearing this, the priests nodded in determination and immediately began their command to increase the purging process of eliminating anyone who has twin babies. For them, the sooner they are gone, the better.

The Pope held his head as he tried his best to recall who it was who had appeared before in his dreams. The person looks familiar, yet he cannot remember. He can tell it was an incomplete memory, yet it was a vivid memory due to him personally seeing the destruction of what he has made all these years in just a single day. The one who will bring their demise and the one who will usher in a new era. However, as much as he tried, he couldn’t remember who it was.

"Sooner or later, I will know who you are. I won’t let you destroy what I painstakingly worked hard for. You will fall by my hands. I will ensure that the destruction of Luminiera Kingdom will not happen. This kingdom is mine, and soon, I will expand this kingdom for the greater good of my people and myself. This religion is not that brittle for you to destroy it. I can’t let a mother of twins just destroy it."

With a face full of determination to eliminate the future enemy, he walks out of his room to resume his duties. There is a reason their religion wanted to purge all twins. They can’t just let everything go to waste after all.

...

Elaina is too stunned to speak or move. All she could do was just stare at the baby inside the crystal, staring at her. It was like she got petrified just by looking at this individual, and yet she can tell she is not in danger. But why is it that she couldn’t move at all?

Then, all of a sudden, a female voice suddenly echoed in her head. That’s when she suddenly got to move again, but instead of running away, Elaina clutched her head in pain as the voice reverberated inside her head.

"You...I like you..." the female voice echoed in her head, a voice that seemed so deep, yet somehow, it didn’t hold malice. It’s just something that was out of this world that Elaina is just not able to take it by herself. The voice still didn’t stop.

"Take him. Perhaps you are the one I am waiting for."

And with that, the feeling disappeared, and Elaina could move freely again. The pain in her head disappeared completely as it had never happened at all, which was weird. As Elaina finally recovered from the pain, the massive crystal with the baby inside started cracking. The baby’s eyes that were open and staring at her earlier were once again closed.

Elaina took a step back, holding her sword as she readied herself for whatever was going to happen. Still, she is worried about the baby. Whatever happened earlier, she couldn’t help but feel worried the baby might get in danger. A few seconds later, the cracks began to increase in size, and it started to break. Elaina can tell the inevitable is going to happen, so she stops waiting for it to happen and attacks the crystal, trying to break it. But she felt like the sword didn’t even touch the surface of the crystal, it was like something was blocking it entirely, and that was what made the bounce happen.

But instead of destroying the crystal, her sword ended up bouncing from its surface, preventing her from damaging the crystal in any way. However, she felt like the sword didn’t even touch the surface of the crystal; it was like something was blocking it entirely, and that was what made the bounce happen. And yet, even if Elaina failed to break it herself, the crystal continued to make the cracks bigger, and it never stopped. In the end, the crystal soon breaks to pieces and explodes as the baby inside floats and slowly descends to the ground.

Elaina approached the bottom where the baby was supposed to land and extended her hand. Since the baby slowly fell to her hands, the baby landed softly and snugly on her arms. Elaina quickly examined the baby. After all, it was inside the crystal just now, and it exploded. She needed to ensure it wasn’t injured by the shards of the crystal or whatever. Thankfully, the baby didn’t have any wounds, and strangely enough, the baby was breathing just fine.

One thing is strange, though. The baby has two small horns on his head, and his ears are sharp like the elves.

"It seems you are holding a baby devil."

"Baby Devil?!" Elaina suddenly had the urge to put down the baby.

"Hold your horses, Elaina. Don’t just do that to the baby who has nothing to do but be born in this world. He might be a devil baby, but that doesn’t mean he is dangerous. Humans have described the Devil Race to be dangerous due to their powers, but in reality, they are just like other people, just that they are born differently and have more inherited power than humans or the other races, and they are more inclined to be close in affinity with the dark magic."

"Aren’t the Devil race considered to be the race that usually became the demon lords that devastate the land?!"

The God of Farming quickly corrected Elaina. "Remember, Elaina. Villains are not born, they are made. They may have become an evil individual, but they are not born that way, they are made because of their environment. This not only applies to the devil race, but it also applies to other races like the human race. Just because this baby is part of the Devil Race doesn’t mean the baby is already evil. I suggest you raise this baby, Elaina."

The words of the God of Farming hit Elaina because it is true. She felt ashamed that she immediately thought of what the records of the Devil Race had committed. And the God of Farming is correct. Someone only becomes a villain because they lose everything that would make them feel important in this world. And in a world where the Devil Race is persecuted, they are indeed more likely to become the villains in the end.

"I am sorry about that, God of Farming. I was too blinded by what I had been taught since I was a child and what I learned when I grew up. But if I bring him back with him, what about the others? Just because I accepted him doesn’t mean the others will."

The God of Farming already knew that Elaina would say this. "Don’t you trust everyone in your abode? Then trust them and explain it to them. After all, you are the voice of that house, you are just a nobody, Elaina."

Elaina nodded and grabbed a towel to wrap the baby in her hands. He might have these basic features that make him look different than a human, but he doesn’t look that different from a regular human.

"Although I already have my twins at home, what is the harm of having another kid? You might be born as someone who was described by many to be the incarnation of evil deeds, but I will ensure that your path will not be led astray. I will raise you as a regular individual, raised in a happy family and someone who will become a righteous person. From now on, your name is Raye, and you will be my second son."

The moment Elaina encounters the baby, the wheel of destiny spins faster. It will now proceed to the right path.
