Chapter 235: The Second Location

Princess Margaux has a basic understanding of the geography of the Darcero Kingdom’s terrain and surrounding landscape. It is one of the lessons given to her while she was still taking lessons from her private instructor as training that a princess of the kingdom should take to help with the royalty duties properly and to also have the basic knowledge that one should know in case it is needed especially during wartime. However, it hasn’t been proved useful as most battles that happened so far are all suppressed on the seaside.

However, today seems to be different as this time around, Elaina had to ask her about the terrain of the area and where are the best locations that one could use to reach a particular place that she was looking for.

Although Elaina holds a map and knows where to go, it lacks terrain markings that would allow her to know if the area she will be heading towards is not accessible from their location or if they need to detour to a longer way just to specifically access that area. With Princess Margaux though, that problem is solved.

"You’re right, it seems this area is not accessible if we head the same way as before," Elaina said as she stared over at the cliffside that they passed through to reach the second location. If they followed the previous route, Elaina would have wasted a bit more time trying to find her route as she was blocked by the huge cliff that stopped her from her progress.

"It’s a common mistake by many who do not know the area specifically so it’s not just uncommon to the locals. Perhaps if I have not learned any of these from my private instructor about these kinds of areas around the kingdom then I would be as clueless as you," Princess Margaux smiled as they continued their trek to the second area.

It didn’t take them long enough to arrive at the place. Compared to the first area, the place where Elaina will be planting the tree is near a cliff. Although the actual area to plant the tree is not beside the cliff itself, it is still very near the cliff and the wind is quite a bit stronger there.

"These areas where you are planting the saplings are quite full of pure mana, Miss Elaina. How are you finding these areas? Even I did not know these places were this great for practicing magic and other things."

Elaina only smiled as she focused on planting the sapling. She can’t say anything about it as she has no idea how to explain her Almanac to Princess Margaux.

Sensing that Elaina avoids answering her question, Princess Margaux does not bother to ask further. From the looks of it, Elaina has reasons she cannot say easily to others. She is fine with it and decided not to pry further.

Like the previous location, the soil is covered with snow so Elaina has to clean up the area as much as she can to start planting. This time, it wasn’t as easy as before as the area is a bit steeper and a bit located in an inclined part, causing the snow to slide to the cleared area the more she cleared the area. As a solution, Elaina decided to clear the whole area from the snow instead of just the area she needed to plant the sapling on.

As for the soil itself, it is also a suitable patch of land to plant the sapling. After digging the area big enough to plant the tree, she poured the fertilizer and put the sapling into the hole before covering it with the soil.

Unlike the first one, Elaina prepared herself for the bright light, and as expected, the light emitted over the area. This time around, Princess Margaux, Zaza, and Shardu didn’t rush to Elaina as they learned the situation earlier.

Once the bright glow disappeared, the sapling returned to normal and the surroundings have also returned to its usual scenery. However, it seems that something else was attracted by the bright glow earlier.

Both Zaza and Shardu preemptively assumed their battle stance and even Princess Margaux who was practicing also noticed it.

"Miss Elaina, we have company!"

Elaina didn’t waste time asking and stood up, immediately assuming a battle stance with her sword ready and the shovel on the other hand.

As for their new arrival adversary, they all bared fangs as they headed over to Elaina and their group.

"Elite Wolves..." Elaina frowned as she counted at least a dozen before them. Based on their sizes, none of them are Alpha Wolves, but all of them are Elite Wolves which means that even without the strongest, they will still have to be cautious as these Elites are already strong in their regard.

Princess Margaux saw one monster move and quickly waved her staff, causing multiple vines to sprout over the ground and pierce through the monsters that came in their way. Zaza and Shardu also quickly held the others in position, allowing Princess Margaux to follow up with another wave of her staff.

Elaina who was preparing to fight was stunned at the prowess that Princess Margaux displayed. And the way she immediately disposed of most of the elite wolves in a few magic attacks, was a good display of abilities.

"I didn’t know you have grown this much, Princess. It’s not too long ago when you struggled to use your magic properly..." Elaina clapped her hands as the vines gathered the Elite Wolves in one pile.

"Hehe, it seems that my practice has paid off."

"You have been practicing in secret?"

"Not really. At first, I just studied how most Druids do their abilities and how they practice. After all, I needed to know how they work and how they fight without relying on their companions. Turns out, that being in a place full of mana and nature will amplify the growth rate that I will experience. And with the help of the previous and this location, I managed to properly increase my mastery over it and use it like how you see it today."

"That fast?"

Princess Margaux blushed in embarrassment as she nodded in response. Despite not knowing how the magic spells that Princess Margaux had worked, Elaina knew they were not easy to do and would need intense mastery over them. She knew how hard it was as she literally heard people not breaking through these kinds of bottlenecks before.

"That is good then. Once you return to the palace in the future, they will be surprised by your tremendous growth and that is a good thing," Elaina congratulates Princess Margaux as she pat her shoulder.

"Thank you very much for letting me stay in the farmhouse and allowing me to freely practice my craft as much as I can."

Elaina smiled and glanced over the pile of carcasses of the Elite Wolves.

"I planned to get these trees planted this time but having more supply of pelt and fresh meat is not too bad as well. We will not need to hunt for quite some time either, plus Shardu and Zaza will both have a great feast later."

Hearing this, the two animals enthusiastically showed their happiness. After all, it is another meat fest for them.

Since Elaina has no time to butcher and dismantle the carcasses, she just stored all of them inside the storage bag for now and plans to do it later at home.

"Alright. We are done in this place. Let’s head over to the next location. There are two more places we need to stop by."

Despite the enthusiasm, Elaina felt a bit of worry after seeing the effects of the glow earlier. It seems they got lucky nothing was attracted during the first one but seeing the attacks of the wolves, Elaina is sure that similar monsters might appear to attack them in the third and fourth one as well.
