Chapter 113: The Life Seed

Quietly taking a seat beside the fairy, Elaina put a bait on the end of the fishing rod’s line and cast it over to the water. She didn’t look beside her but instead focused on the water. But she didn’t ignore the little fairy completely and instead, without looking at her, started talking and discussing matters with her.

"So, how are you feeling now?" Elaina asked, still had her eyes on the water.

"Depressed," the fairy flatly said, without giving any interest in adding more to what she just said.

"Straight to the point but I know you are depressed. What I am specifically asking is how depressed are you right now?"

"..." The fairy did not say anything and just stared into the water where the bobber was floating on the surface.

"...that bad huh."

"I didn’t say anything."

"But your silence is enough for me to know the severity of your depression. I am impressed that you managed to keep yourself like this without breaking down to pieces like most people do."

"I see. That’s obvious huh? But who can blame me? I didn’t even know that my whole race was extinct and I am the only one left alive from all of them. I still remember them being taken with me back then so I am not sure how to expect it when they say all of my family members and even members of our race are gone now. And it all happened way back than I remembered."

"Now that I think about it, it is kind of strange for you to not realize that you have been imprisoned for that long. How long do you think you are being imprisoned by the way? To see how far and wide the gap of the date of what you remembered you were captured in and the time the pixie race went extinct."

"Not something I would exactly know but I felt like I had only been inside the cage for a few months. After that, here I am and now I am confused as to why everything has changed now. Even the sky is no longer red as it was before."

Elaina glanced at the depressed fairy and remembered the books she studied before detailing the Great War where all the nations currently fighting each other to the point that it changed the lives of everything, including those that were not human and back then, even monsters and demi-humans are utilized for the war. It was such a bloody period in the world that historians dubbed the war the "The War that Dyes the Sky Red" since it had the sky red due to the amount of explosions and smoke coming from the ground due to the wars happening that the sky would always look like it was burning even back then.

And based on what the little pixie said, it seems that she indeed came from that time when the war was still fully active. But if that was the case, she should be pretty old by now and she can be already considered as an elder by the Pixie standard and yet, she still looks the same.

But because they didn’t have any idea how it happened, Elaina didn’t want to dig deeper and just decided that she shouldn’t dwell too much on it.

As Elaina was about to begin talking to the fairy about the method to revive the fairies, the bobber started to move so Elaina started to pull the fishing rod and Elaina started a tug of war with the fish. The fairy watched as Elaina fully dominated the fish and pulled it out of the water.

"Hmm, big catch yes. Anyways, I should talk to you about something. I didn’t call you here just to have some idle talk. Let’s have a serious talk this time around and that is about regarding your extinct race. Do you know about the Life Seed?"

"Life seed? Yeah. It is one of the life sources of the fairies. There are also the flowers but we called it the life seeds before since their seeds usually looked like our life seeds when harvested."

"Hmm, that’s it. But do you know that this particular plant is something you might want to cultivate and grow, especially a fairy?"

"What do you mean? I don’t have any uses for a flower that only looks like it is currently forming life seeds that cannot be used by anyone and is more used as something as a decoration," the fairy looked at Elaina like she was thinking Elaina was an idiot or something.

Elaina now realized why this flower was able to create new fairies. Since the Life Seed was their life source, the flowers would develop a fairy body that would then carry the Life Seed as a result. She immediately understands the main purpose of this flower and how it properly works now that she heard it directly from the little fairy

As stated by the God of Farming before, the method was lost back then when the fairies abandoned this method as they started to form their own families and stopped relying on the seed altogether, making the purpose of the flower meaningless.

"It seems that the newer fairies didn’t know about the ancient method of how the fairies were born in this world. Perhaps this is the time you should know about a certain method you can use to fully bring back the fairy population in this world once again."

The moment the fairy heard about this, her eyes lit up and she looked at Elaina with her eyebrows furrowing at her.

"What do you mean?"

"This method was something that I received from someone whom I consider my benefactor. He knows your current situation and has an idea of how you can potentially reignite your once-extinct race back to its former glory. Of course, it is not a resurrection but you can expect new fairies as a result."

"Tell me."

Seeing the reaction of the little fairy, Elaina knew that she had made the right move. Now that she got the attention of the little fairy, Elaina then started to describe the fairy about the lost technique that the older generation of fairies should have fairly known this matter and this method was lost after the previous fairies who knew this method had died out.

"Then... are you saying that the reason why that plant is always being grown around us back then was because it holds the biggest usage for everyone else at that time and not because it looks good and it is a flower that is very similar to our Life Seed?"

"Pretty crazy to think that all fairies have either forgotten or have neglected this useful method for so long. And if not for me who knows about this method, then it is just going to be buried in the realm of forgotten things that will never receive any recognition," Elaina nodded as she pulled another fish out of the water.

"But why does it sound like a hoax? Are you just giving me a false sense of hope until the very end so that I have something to work with?" the little fairy immediately went suspicious.

"Was it like that? Well, if you think I am lying then perhaps it is time to test it and see, isn’t it? The best way to know if I am lying or telling the truth is to try it out and see if it works as I stated earlier."

"Alright. Let’s begin then. Let’s see if you are lying or not."

"Oops, not yet, little fairy. Before we even began, I needed to know what kind of flower the Life Seed was. If we wanted the method to work properly, we needed to recreate the Life Seed in a perfect replication and use it as a basis to recreate it."

"Fair enough. But all I know is that the flower was called Life Seed’s flower, to begin with."

"Not a problem. You only need to describe what the flower looks like to me. I may not look like it but I do know my fair share of knowledge in flowers," Elaina said proudly.

No one knows this but Elaina has a fair share of knowledge on different flowers and how they can grow properly as a way to decorate the garden of the Luminiera Kingdom back then. Using her expertise in this little field, she managed to make the garden look much better than before which was pretty barren.

"Hmmm, in that case, the one thing I remember about it is that this flower somehow has a body that looks like it can be used as a mode of transport into the water. Oh yeah, they also primarily grow in the water as well and they have big flowers that we can even use as something as a bed since it was big enough if it matures."

Hearing the description, Elaina had a big idea of what kind of flower it was.

"I see. Then our next step is to obtain a seed of that flower to begin the process of creating it as a Life Seed."

As to why Elaina is smiling, it is because the flower that she is describing is none other than the Lotus. A flower that can be used as both a flower and vegetable if used right.
