A Professor of Magic at Hogwarts -
Chapter 646: Fulfilling Holidays - (2)
Because his mouth was stuffed with a piece of Mandrake leaf, Harry's speech was particularly concise, and due to the special diet of these days, he felt a bit dazed. When he came down, Ron and Hermione heard someone nearby quietly questioning, "This kid doesn't seem too bright, could he still be affected by the Cruciatus Curse?"
His words made a group of unsuspecting spectators sniff emotionally.
That night, the Ministry of Magic held a grand banquet, but Harry left early, returning to eat his tasteless dinner—cubes of dried cheese and vegetable meatballs made with a special technique, said to be nutritious and induce a strong sense of satiety after swallowing.
Most importantly, the entire dining process was compressed to less than a minute, minimizing the possibility of any accidents.
This resulted in the students losing a lot of fun.
And because of the drastic lack of entertainment—Harry was surprised to find that he had finished all his homework in less than a week, leaving several days idle until just before school started again, when Professor Hop finally seemed to remember them and gathered them together.
"How many people are still here?" Felix asked.
A bunch of arms went up, and Harry looked around, finding that the number was quite significant. "Fifteen people, not bad," Felix nodded. "It seems that the exercises from the past two weeks have been effective. Today, I want you to come here for a summary, um... let's fully utilize collective intelligence."
The students—including those who failed—all stared at Professor Hop.
Felix waved the parchment in his hand. "Do you still remember the forms you filled out in Dueling class starting from second year? Of course, Dueling class is only available for second to fourth years now, conveniently avoiding overlap with first-year Flying class and fifth-year O.W.L. exams, and also merging with the content of the spell assessments...""This records everyone's learning speed, preferences, learning styles, and so on. Now, after four years, the accumulated data has filled an entire wall of cabinets."
"There's no doubt, it's an undiscovered treasure trove," Felix said confidently.
"You should have experienced group discussions. We're going to use a similar method, where you voice any difficult issues you have and together brainstorm solutions."
The students looked at each other, but upon closer examination, it was indeed a good idea. After a while, a student finally volunteered, mentioning that they felt depressed, lethargic all day long.
There were nods around, they had the same symptoms too.
"Yeah, nothing enjoyable seems doable, can't eat well, can't sleep well, can't even speak loudly," a Ravenclaw girl said sharply, "it's simply a nightmare."
The other students turned their gaze to Felix.
"Don't look at me, I said I'd let you discuss it yourselves," he said, with a stern face.
"What about potions? Like a cheering potion?" Ron suggested.
"Oh, no, " Ernie said disappointedly, "I asked Professor McGonagall, and she said there's a chance potions could contaminate the Mandrake leaf."
The group began to think of various ideas, gradually giving increasingly absurd answers, but Felix showed no signs of stopping them. Instead, he had Hermione record everything, and in the end, it was Neville who came up with a solution.
"I—uh, I tried a method," Neville whispered, his teeth clenched tightly, afraid of dropping the Mandrake leaf while speaking, "using the Daydream Charm."
"The Daydream Charm? What's that?" a student asked.
"Hey! I know—" Ron exclaimed excitedly.
"The Daydream Charm can construct a real dream, I only thought of it yesterday... Anyway, I spent a good half day chatting happily inside and felt much better when I came out," Neville shared his experience.
"Talking to yourself? What did you say?"
"Um... loudly reciting the Herbology textbook," Neville said reluctantly, eliciting laughter from everyone, but when Professor Hop encouraged him to try it on others, everyone's opinion immediately changed.
Felix also experienced it himself.
When Neville cast the spell, he found himself on a peak overlooking the Hogwarts castle, surrounded by empty silence. From his professional perspective, this dream still had many flaws, but at least—
He tried shouting a couple of times, and his voice could carry far and the echo effect was quite good, indeed providing a good outlet for emotions.
The discussion continued. Harry also raised his own issue; he hoped to speak loudly safely. After all, he was the team captain, and whether it was explaining tactics or correcting players who made mistakes in flight, he couldn't avoid shouting.
But what surprised him was that his problem was almost immediately met with feedback.
"Use the Sonorus Charm—" Hermione, who was recording on the side, said.
"Cover your mouth with a scarf!" Susan Bones suggested.
"Combine the two." Ron proposed.
Harry's eyes lit up. The other students' eyes lit up too; this method seemed even better, and they were ready to go back and try it out.
Of course, the discussion process wasn't all smooth sailing. When it came to the question of "how to curb the bitterness of Mandrake," because there were too many methods, it led to a debate about food preferences, and the students argued fiercely.
In the midst of the commotion, unfortunately, one person accidentally sprayed the Mandrake leaf out. Everyone was stunned, and the room fell silent, even the student himself stared blankly at the leaf on the ground, as if unable to believe his own foolishness.
"Cough, cough—just now Perkin demonstrated a mistake for us," Felix said somewhat uncomfortably. "This reminds us to stay calm in the following time...
Personally, I recommend wearing calming talismans. Let them work minimally." He added.
