A Professor of Magic at Hogwarts
Chapter 640: Tempting Training - (2)

Professor McGonagall paused, a faint blush on her face. She adjusted her square glasses, feeling a bit embarrassed by her outburst. She awkwardly changed the subject, "By the way, what about your Transfiguration, Felix?" She glanced at his arm suddenly.

"Human transfiguration," Felix feigned ignorance.

Professor McGonagall looked skeptical, "I happen to be the Transfiguration professor."

As she left, Felix stood with his hands in his pockets, furrowing his eyebrows. The lingering question in his mind resurfaced – was there something wrong with Dumbledore's body? He couldn't tell anymore, which meant one thing: Dumbledore delved much deeper into the realm of the soul.

But Dumbledore avoided the topic, deflecting Felix's subtle inquiries.

Felix felt a bit uneasy.

Days passed, and December arrived. Students had several unique Animagus lessons, delving into more advanced topics, including aspects of human transfiguration.

"How many times do I have to say it?" Professor McGonagall scolded Ron, "Just familiarize yourself with how magic is invoked, don't let it take effect—" Ron grimaced; his arm was twice the size of a normal person's, with fine scales on the skin.

Professor McGonagall waved her wand, restoring his arm.

Four weeks had passed since the first class, and with several snowfalls, the weather turned colder. Felix's approach worked; no student voluntarily withdrew, except for two who were advised to leave due to their poor willpower and transfiguration skills.

As students became more adept at the course, Felix considered new, more efficient teaching methods.

For instance—

One day, Professor McGonagall arrived late. Upon entering the faculty lounge, she found it filled with single desks used for wizarding exams, each with a small animal – rabbits, owls, white ferrets, honey badgers, foxes, small lions, eagles, hunting dogs. They sat obediently on the desks, frozen like specimens.

Various snacks floated inches above their heads—nuts, dried fruits, owl treats, sausages, meat patties—emanating tempting aromas. The creatures, beneath the food, occasionally lifted their heads with eager eyes, then quickly looked away.

Professor McGonagall was stunned.

In addition, Felix had appointed a supervisor.

A house-elf stood respectfully on an empty chair, hands clasped nervously over its chest, as if in prayer. With a prominent nose and large bat-like ears, it diligently surveyed the strange scene in the faculty lounge.

Soon, its eyes lit up. "Master Harp," the house-elf suddenly exclaimed, pointing excitedly at a honey badger. Professor McGonagall followed the elf's finger, and the little creature, using its hind legs, comically flapped in the air, reaching for the golden honey above.

"Well done, Yunber," Felix praised, casually flipping a page in his book and then gently waving his wand.

In the blink of an eye, the honey badger transformed into a wizard, Justin, who walked disappointedly to a nearby chair. "Thirteen and a half minutes, not bad," Felix said calmly. However, he was the first to fail, Justin thought, even some girls lasted longer than him.

"Squeak!"

He looked down to see a tiny owl staring at him, holding a piece of parchment, urging him to write.

The professors were indeed going all out, Justin thought. Not only did they bring the owl to Ancient Runes class, now it served as an assistant. He took the parchment and began earnestly filling out the questionnaire. Supposedly, these surveys would be archived in the Hogwarts library, most likely in the restricted section.

"Thoughts – quite clear; self-evaluation, seven points; today's transfiguration sample – um – honey badger, feeling... not comfortable; constraints... don't feel the seamless connection that other students mentioned... next time, maybe choose—" he lifted his head, seeking inspiration among the various creatures.

After a moment of contemplation, he wrote, "Ferret." Justin put a question mark beside it, then decided to scratch it out, changing it to "Pheasant." Many students had chosen their guardian animal form today; perhaps he could give it a try.

Soon, the second student was restored to human form. Gradually, they all skillfully found their seats, starting to fill out the questionnaires. Some reached for a vial of calming draught on the table, silently drank it, and then enthusiastically enjoyed the moments when others embarrassed themselves.

A proud white peacock strutted across the table, then gracefully glided down, making "oh—ah—" sounds. A flash of white light later, Draco Malfoy appeared, pale, gripping the table for support.

His gaze clashed with the little lion lying on the table, Draco glaring at it, then turning to scowl at the sleek hunting dog. A few tables away, a miniature beaver kept twitching its nose, with whiskers raised.

Within five minutes, they all turned back into students.

Before the end of class, Felix and Professor McGonagall distributed fresh leaves to the students.

"Are these leaves from the Mandrake plant?" Ron marveled at the leaf in his hand, "They don't really look like it."

"Because it's not Mandrake," Felix smirked, "I plucked it from Hagrid's Christmas tree in the Great Hall this morning without him noticing, used an illusion charm—"

"Well done, Professor," Ron whistled.

Ignoring the silly banter between them, Professor McGonagall cleared her throat and announced to the class, "With two weeks until Christmas, and since you've persevered this far, Felix and I have decided to gradually introduce you to the preparations for Animagus transformation."

"The leaves we gave you are enchanted, and when we meet next time, I expect you to have them still in your mouths."

"At that time, I'll distribute genuine Mandrake leaves."
