A Love Reborn: Finding Romance Twice In One Lifetime -
Chapter 264: WHO ARE YOU?
Chapter 264: Chapter 264: WHO ARE YOU?
Calista, upon hearing the answer, was overwhelmed with an urge to bash someone in the end. Her emotions at this moment were purely so strong that they leaked.
Unknowingly, her emotions triggered certain beasts who are still recovering. As a result, these two were naturally forced to finish whatever they were doing pretty fast. Otherwise, their mistress might suffer harm and that would be on their heads.
"Cali, why are you asking?"
Calista turned to look at Orson smilingly, her teeth gritting badly as she felt like splitting the head of the man she loved so badly.
If this man was his man, then did it mean that he .....?
There was no way that he was involved in that matter, right?
She didn’t want to believe it at all.
"Hehe, it’s just beautiful. You know my love of jewelry. When I saw it, I wanted to make one for myself as well," she lied without batting an eye, her eyes lingering on the ring as if she couldn’t bear to part with it.
The man in black watched all that with a cold gaze as he thought, ’She is not an easy person. She must have approached him for a purpose. There is no way this is a coincidence. I need to deal with this matter as soon as possible!’
Orson nodded understandably when he heard that. "It’s not a problem. If you like something like that, I will have one made for you. When I come back, I will bring it over. What do you think?"
Calista beamed when she heard that. In his words, she could tell that he wanted to come back, and that was enough for her.
However, when she thought of how these two were relayed and how he might be involved in that matter, she suppressed her happiness.
She didn’t want to judge him without knowing the facts, nor did she want to judge the guard without facts as well. So, as much as she hated the man in black and was blackening when looking at Orson, she had to calm down and be rational.
"Sure. Just make sure to bring me something nice. It would be better if that person carves Blackey and Whitey on the ring as well."
"Sure, that can be done!"
The two chatted about this and that harmoniously. Something that they didn’t manage to do for over a week. The moment felt nice, but only for Orson, who seemed to be in the dark.
Orson didn’t stay for a long time as he had some things to do, so after seeing the twins, he left with his guard, leaving Calista with a dark face.
’Just who are you?’ she pondered as she paced up and down in the room, biting her finger.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Orson brought his man, also known as Shadow, to the campsite.
"Master, have you ever looked into what you failed to find about the madam before?" Shadow suddenly asked, catching Orson by surprise.
"Why would you ask so?" he asked curiously.
It wasn’t like he never did. He checked what should be checked, and as for her past, at least the years before she arrived here, there wasn’t much to talk about.
With a straight face, Shadow responded, "I just find her suspicious. You know your identity. You need to be careful lest we fall into someone’s trap," his words seeding doubt and suspicion in the mind of Orson.
"Why does she look suspicious?" he couldn’t help but ask seriously.
Shadow’s intuition had saved them a lot of times, so he trusted it.
Although he didn’t believe that Calista was someone who was sent to him by his enemies, he couldn’t help but be curious. After all, where there is smoke, there is fire, right?
"Master, we don’t know what she was doing before she married her first deceased husband. Who her family is, where she was living and how did she even come to this side? It’s like everything is blank and for such a person, she is suspicious. On top of that, her ...." He started pointing out everything about Calista that he found suspicious even before he met her.
By meeting her, he was now certain that she was someone with an agenda. And with him recognizing her, or rather finding her familiar and putting her in the same image as that person, she wasn’t someone who should be kept.
When Orson heard the list of suspicious things, his eyes widened as it dawned on him.
Just who was she?
Where did she come from?
Which clan did she come from?
With so much power she possesses, why would her family or clan let her roam around like that? Those two beasts were enough to make her an ancestor, even in a family like his. So why and what was she doing in such a backward place?
"Besides, only those we had come across can recognize my ring. Are you sure that we haven’t met her before? Master, this woman might be dangerous. We need to think about how to deal with it before it’s too late! Besides, why would she give her the stone? You know what it does, right?"
Shadow’s words echoed in his mind repeatedly, even after the conversation was done.
If these suspicions were true, his blood turned cold at the thought of being played by Calista.
He had offended way too many people in his life. He had used his medicinal skills to end people’s lives, and he was one of the people who wanted the most in several kingdoms.
He was a bandit and a pirate, and his job was to plunder without mercy in any method useable.
There were people who had lost their lives because of him, whether by his hand or by Shadow’s hand. What everyone knew was that he didn’t go anywhere without Shadow unless something serious happened.
If a person lived to tell and knew Shadow’s ring, it meant that they crossed paths. If the person couldn’t recognize him, but Shadow, then the matter was serious.
Now, thinking about it, he recalled how Calista mumbled about how Shadow looked familiar. Could it be that she was a sleeping agent, nurtured by one of his enemies, or perhaps, was she in cahoots with the sorceress?
Without the sorceress, he couldn’t be here and in such a situation. And why would the sorceress give Calista the stone?
His temples throbbed the more he thought about it.
Staring in the direction of her manor, he couldn’t help but mumble a question, "Calista, who are you? Are you a foe or a friend?" doubt and suspicion sinking in.
