Chapter 151: Chapter 151: I Am Not a Casual Person
Outside the window, vehicles sped past, the light from the headlights flickering across faces, somewhat dazzling.
Jiang Jingheng propped his hands on either side of the seat, enveloping her in a commanding posture.
His light brown eyes seemed deep and mysterious under the night, obscuring his emotions.
Mu Yan leaned back against the seat, wanting to retreat, but there was nowhere to retreat to.
Her hands clutched her top, lips tightly pressed together, her clear eyes meeting his gaze.
His warm breath brushed against her face, a faint cologne scent lingering in the air.
Their breaths entwined, she felt a heat rising in her body, her heartbeat uncontrollably speeding up.
An ambiguous tension filled the air.
Instinctively, Mu Yan turned her face away, looking out the car window, trying to hide her panic.
Watching her evasive demeanor, Jiang Jingheng’s lips curled slightly.
He leaned his body closer again, whispering in her ear with a deep voice, "Not just anyone is worth me, Jiang Jingheng, coming to the rescue."
Except for you, no one else.
A tingling sensation spread from her ear like an electric current through her body, Mu Yan felt her heart being tickled like it was brushed by a feather.
Her heartbeat quickened as if it would leap out of her body.
She clenched her hands tightly, wondering what he meant by that.
Before she could think more, suddenly, the pressure around her dissipated, and the shadow enveloping her vanished.
The engine roared to life, and the car started again.
Mu Yan slowly turned her head, looking at the person beside her, who now appeared calm and collected as he gazed ahead, as if he had not been the domineering person just moments ago.
A breeze caressed her cheek, carrying away waves of heat.
She felt somewhat fortunate that it was nighttime; otherwise, how could she have maintained her composure?
Only, she faintly sensed a vague and indescribable emotion in her heart that she couldn’t shake off.
Without a word, the car arrived at Jinxiu Court Villa.
Upon entering, Jiang Jingheng turned on the lights, fetched two bottles of medicine from the cabinet, and handed them to Mu Yan, "Apply these on your legs after your bath."
Mu Yan took them and nodded, "Thank you."
Jiang Jingheng gave no definite response, heading toward the kitchen while asking, "What would you like to eat?"
Mu Yan hurriedly said, "Let me do it."
He had saved her, so how could she let him cook for her?
Jiang Jingheng’s expression suddenly darkened as he stared at her.
Mu Yan’s heart skipped a beat, quickly shaking her head, "You should do it."
Jiang Jingheng said nothing, turning into the kitchen.
Watching his figure disappear at the kitchen door, Mu Yan suddenly realized that he seemed quite different from what she had imagined.
Arrogant and domineering, cold and unyielding, this should match his identity as the Young Master Jiang of Upper City.
When he held her and said, "Don’t be afraid, I’m here!" it calmed her anxious heart.
This couldn’t go on; she shook her head and dashed upstairs.
Mu Yan returned to her room, took a shower, applied some medicine, and then went downstairs.
On the table, there were two dishes already set, stir-fried asparagus with sliced meat and sweet and sour ribs, steaming hot, obviously just cooked.
Mu Yan was truly hungry, and Jiang Jingheng’s cooking was delicious; she finished a full bowl.
Before going upstairs, she remembered something, looked at Jiang Jingheng, and said, "Don’t forget to apply the medicine."
Jiang Jingheng instinctively touched his back and nodded, "Okay."
Noticing he seemed unfamiliar with the action, Mu Yan asked, "Need my help?"
Jiang Jingheng gave her a glance and chuckled, "Mrs. Jiang, are you perhaps eyeing my physique and want to sneak a peek?"
Mu Yan was startled; what nonsense was he talking about?
Jiang Jingheng raised an eyebrow, "I’m not someone who takes things lightly."
