Chapter 996: Chapter 747: Totem Beast’s Calculation_1
"Sky Reaching Giant City" serves as the paramount seat of power for the Amori Clan, which holds dominion over the Black Iron World among the ten great races. Beneath the towering city lies control over the "Sky," "Ocean," "Fire Hell," and other Main Cities. It holds sway over innumerable fortresses, and even Black Iron City, where Su Yu resides, is nominally under the banner of the Sky Reaching Giant City—though, of course, the current Sky Reaching Giant City can hardly command Su Yu.
The Sky Reaching Giant City is comprised of seven colossal towers rising out of the water, hence also known as the City of Seven Towers.
At this moment, the Three-eyed Feathered God, along with Zhang Jiarong, appeared silently by the ocean’s edge, gazing distantly at the City of Seven Towers.
After the attack on Black Iron City failed, with the goal of devouring the energy of the Black Warriors and Qin Yougui and others, the Three-eyed Feathered God, bearing Zhang Jiarong, made their escape. But it was not yet disheartened. Relying on its special abilities, it soon detected a newly ascended combatant in the Divine Spirit Realm within the confines of the Sky Reaching Giant City—undoubtedly the most suitable target for the current Zhang Jiarong.
Too weak forces such as the Black Iron Warriors or even those of the bronze and silver ranks failed to spark the Feather God’s interest, while provoking a group like Maya’s Pillar Gods, now gathered together, was not something the Feather God dared to do. Consequently, Akaski, who resided within the Sky Reaching Giant City, had become the best alternative outside of Black Iron City.
Arriving at the Sky Reaching Giant City with Zhang Jiarong, the Feather God muttered, "I refuse to believe that among these seven towers, there will be another monster like that wooden figure, a mere head able to live so aberrantly... That creature... must already possess an immortal soul... How can such a monster stay in the Black Iron World..."
The Feather God cursed under its breath while leading Zhang Jiarong towards the tallest and largest of the seven towers at the center of the City of Seven Towers.
Such a brash intrusion immediately triggered the defensive system of the City of Seven Towers. However, in the face of the energy beams shooting their way, neither the Feather God nor Zhang Jiarong paid any mind. The Feather God even raised the third eye in its forehead, shooting out a fearsome beam that struck one of the high towers.
The power of this beam was terrifying. Back in Black Iron City, even the six-color divine light of Qing Huang was shattered by its strike. So what was this mere tower in comparison? Struck by the beam, it instantly exploded, blowing out a giant, clear hole. Over a hundred beings were obliterated in the blink of an eye, leaving not even dust behind.
Killing such a group of Black Iron Warriors elicited no interest from the Feather God; they were far too weak to even qualify as food.
"Zhang Jiarong, kill! Remember what I taught you before. If you want to survive and see the one you wish to meet, you must kill. Only by killing your enemy can you avoid being killed and stay alive—"
The Feather God’s voice echoed throughout the City of Seven Towers as Zhang Jiarong let out a roar, charging towards the oncoming Sky-reaching Giant Tower.
At that moment, the entire City of Seven Towers was alerted. The Ancestor holding a walking stick, his hair and beard both white, revealed an indescribable strangeness on his face, once rosy like that of a baby’s.
Once one of the rulers of this world, one of the Ten Great Giant Cities, with supreme authority, the City of Seven Towers was now being invaded so easily by an enemy. And those who stood at the pinnacle of this world’s hierarchy appeared now powerless; faced with this absolute force, they were by nothing more than fodder.
From the Feather God’s vertical eye, a beam of light like a broad ribbon surged forth, striking the other six towers. With a series of thunderous booms, one clear hole after another appeared on the towers. Finally, one of the towers, with too much damage, saw its main support structure break completely. With a rumbling sound, it began to collapse downward, slowly sinking into the sea—an omen, perhaps, of the world’s governing center, the Ten Great Giant Cities, disintegrating like this falling tower.
Within the central tower, the elders of the Sky Reaching Giant City, including Old Ancestor Lance and his sons, were utterly panicked. Akaski grunted angrily.
Previously, as the leader of "Amori City" in the Upper Realm, the Sky Reaching Giant City was practically under his command. Usually, any issues beyond the reach of the Sky Reaching Giant City would be escalated to him, and if manageable, he would send someone to deal with it. If the situation was beyond his own means, he would pass it further up the chain.
Now, though "Amori City" had been destroyed, he had luckily taken the final step toward demi-godhood and reached the Divine Spirit Realm. At present, as he saw enemies attacking the Sky Reaching Giant City, Akaski felt a great fury. With a stomp, he burst forth, and above the void, there appeared a hundred-meter-long green serpent with feathers and three eyes.
"Category 5 Lifeform?" Akaski frowned in recognition, certain that this feathered serpent must be one of the matured Category 5 Lifeforms released from that "darkness vortex" by the mysterious blue-clad dark shadow. As it had come here, then... the Child of Destiny...
As he reached this thought, from afar in the void, a human figure came hurtling, emitting a piercing shriek. Surrounding the figure was a gigantic shadow, ten meters tall, wielding a scythe—none other than Zhang Jiarong, who had already summoned the King of Souls, Achabis.
Akaski watched as the Three-eyed Feathered God wreaked havoc on the high towers in the void, his eyes on Jiarong who was charging towards him, and a wave of hesitation washed over him. He didn’t fear he was no match for this Child of Destiny; rather, the legend of the ’Day of Ending’ was too terrifying. Coupled with words Ada had once said—that the Child of Destiny was the true sovereign to forge this era—if these claims were indeed true, would engaging in a fierce battle with this Child of Destiny not be akin to seeking death?
While Akaski hesitated, a voice suddenly came to him faintly, as if it was there yet not there: "Akaski, kill this Child of Destiny, fear not... We need to prove something through him, and when necessary, I will intervene personally. Be confident and strike."
"Totem beast?" Akaski was startled, never having expected to hear the voice of his clan’s Totem beast in his mind. Could it be that the Totem beast had secretly come to this world as well?
With this realization, Akaski’s courage soared. If the Totems of his clan had already made their will known, they would surely not stand idly by. With that considered, what more was there for him to fear?
"Ignore that Category 5 Lifeform beside you, use all your power to kill that human," the voice continued to admonish.
"Understood," Akaski responded to the voice in his mind while raising his own voice in a furious roar: "Brat, dare you offend the Sky Reaching Giant City, dare you offend the dignity of the Amori Clan, today, I shall obliterate you in body and spirit—"
With a long howl from Akaski, he spread his arms apart, and a "shh-shh" sound followed. Soon, an energy arrow appeared before him.
"Destructive Arrow—" With another long cry and a casual gesture of his arms, a "whoosh" sounded in the air. Jiarong, who was approaching, scarcely had time to react before a "shh" pierced the air, followed by his scream. His chest was instantly blasted open with a giant transparent hole, and his body began to fall straight down into the sea.
Akaski was taken aback by his successful hit and then erupted into mad laughter: "So that’s all there is to it, to merely possess the strength of a divine spirit without knowing how to use it. Such a fool dares to show his face? Is this what they call a Child of Destiny? Utterly ludicrous—"
Reassured by his laughter, Akaski followed swiftly after Jiarong, who was plummeting into the sea, his hands raised as though drawing twin great bows.
"Die, brat. ’Multishot’, go—"
Akaski unleashed a roar, and energy arrows after arrows appeared behind him, forming an arc as if the radiance behind the Buddha. As Akaski released the tension in his arms, as a full-drawn bow releases its string, these energy arrows instantly turned into streaks of rainbows. They soared after Jiarong below, and if hit, the sheer number of energy arrows exploding would be enough to reduce Jiarong to ashes without leaving a trace.
Facing such a hollow opponent, Akaski didn’t even bother using his prized "Evil-Breaking Golden Pupil."
The Feather God in the sky watched all this unfold and was slightly startled. As it moved to save Jiarong, the void in front of it rippled, and an irresistible force pushed it back. It was then that the Feather God recognized, shockingly, that a dark green lizard creature with a pair of black horns had mysteriously appeared in the void.
Though much smaller in stature than the Feather God, the dark green lizard seemed to fill and be immovable as the entire void to the Feather God’s eyes.
"What... this lizard..." The Feather God was stunned. Its first instinct was to flee, but it quickly realized that the lizard’s target was not itself, but Jiarong below.
Almost in that instant, beyond the world, thoughts and gazes pierced the void, focusing on the scene. Each existence was unimaginable, "they" all wanted to understand—this "Day of Ending," whether the so-called Child of Destiny... could be killed?
Among all the Children of Destiny, Jiarong, the one who had evolved the most, became that leading figure.
Akaski’s "Multishot" almost instantly hit Jiarong as he fell.
All arrows had nearly struck Jiarong, about to reduce him to dust, when at that moment, a "999" pattern charm appeared on the center of Jiarong’s forehead. A blinding light burst forth, and Jiarong, who was plummeting, released a thunderous roar, violently struggling to rise again. (To be continued.
