Chapter 91 - 89: Confession

Chapter 91: Chapter 89: Confession

When Su Yu, Ma Ziye, and Qin Jiagui outside the cave heard this, they looked at each other and suddenly burst into laughter.

Ma Ziye was bending over with laughter, clutching her stomach, apparently aching from laughing too hard.

"That Big Smoker really deserves some admiration."

"Haha." Qin Jiagui burst out in rare laughter, then shook his head repeatedly, unsure whether to laugh or be impressed.

"Ma Ziye, how are your injuries?" Su Yu looked at Ma Ziye and asked.

Ma Ziye’s injuries were much lighter than his, but Ma Ziye, being a mere First-Level Black Iron Warrior, was far from having his recuperative abilities.

It was not often that Ma Ziye heard Su Yu express concern, a touch of sweetness surged in her heart, and then she smiled softly, "Hmm, I’m basically fine, although there’s a slight ache in my chest, but it’s not serious."

Su Yu responded with, "That’s good." He scratched his head, no longer knowing what else to say.

When Zhang Zhongmou walked out of the cave, everyone saw his sour face. Su Yun and Lei Rui, who were following him, couldn’t help but giggle, while Zhao Shichang had the expression of an innocent victim.

Suddenly, Ma Ziye sighed. "Actually, if we weren’t in such a dangerous forest, but simply on an adventure trip, it would have been a lot more relaxing... A lot more fun," she sighed wistfully.

Su Yu knew her feelings. The more they were together, the deeper their feelings for each other became, and the more they cherished each other’s presence. However, as a consequence, their fears and worries intensified because in this world, anyone could die at any time.

The companion who was laughing with you a moment ago might be brutally killed in front of you in the blink of an eye, even if they are stronger than Su Yu.

Ma Ziye felt an indescribable sourness in her heart and murmured softly, "Su Yu, don’t you think it’s ludicrous and unnecessary to develop feelings in such a dangerous environment? Maybe it would be better without feelings in a world like this?"

Su Yu thought about it seriously before saying, "Wouldn’t humans be no different from animals without feelings? No, no, even among animals, there are feelings. Do you know about an insect called a moth?"

Ma Ziye nodded, her brilliant eyes sparkling as she looked at Su Yu.

Su Yu looked straight ahead and murmured, "A moth, knowing full well it will burn to death if it flies into the fire, flies towards the light anyway for that moment of brilliance. I guess that’s a kind of spirit. At least we’re better off than moths; no one knows what the outcome will be until the end... If even a moth, knowing full well it will die, is still fearless, then what do we have to fear? Love if we have to, hate if we have to, at least we won’t leave any regrets."

Su Yu muttered on, but his eyes were staring at Ning Yan, who had just come out of the cave, delicately straightening her long, black hair.

This speech was actually to encourage himself. He wanted to put aside all concerns and face to tell Ning Yan his feelings, but to Ma Ziye, it sounded like Su Yu was encouraging her to love who she wanted to love.

This made her heart flutter wildly, as if a deer was crashing about inside. Could it be that Su Yu knew about her crush on him? Was he hinting for her to persist? Was he willing to accept her?

Thinking about this, Ma Ziye, who was hanging her head, suddenly felt her cheeks burning. At last,

she summoned her courage, preparing to confess to Su Yu. Just as she uttered the word "I", she suddenly realized that Su Yu had already left and was walking towards Ning Yan.

"Ah..." Ma Ziye opened her mouth slightly, completely taken aback.

"Yes, why have I been hesitating? Since I have a crush on Ning Yan and I like her, I should just tell her directly. In this world, anyone could die at any time. So why care so much? I don’t want to leave any regrets." Su Yu muttered to himself. His near-death experience yesterday gave him a sort of realization. He wanted to tell Ning Yan—

That he liked her.

Su Yu knew that Ning Yan had no feelings for him, and his feelings for Ning Yan had not yet reached the point of love. Although it was just a rather innocent fondness, Ning Yan was the first girl he ever had feelings for. In this perilous forest, where life was not guaranteed, he did not want to leave any regrets.

Suddenly, Su Yu gathered the courage to confess his feelings, his face showing a fearless expression of bravely heading into battle. He walked straight toward Ning Yan. Once he made up his mind, a wave of charisma naturally emanated from him. Soon, everyone’s eyes were on Su Yu. Even Ning Yan, who had been gently smoothing her hair, looked up in surprise. Su Yu’s charisma was quite startling, leaving her a bit taken aback.

Su Yu’s heartbeat was pounding like a drum. In all his life, this was the first time he had ever prepared to confess to a girl. He found that his chest was so tense that it felt as if it were about to explode.

Damn it, why am I so nervous? I wasn’t this anxious even when facing the One-eyed Corpse King or York yesterday. Su Yu, you’re too cowardly.

Su Yu swore to himself, then gritted his teeth. To the others, it looked like he swaggered over to Ning Yan, his face grim. Ning Yan was startled, and then Su Yu said in a gruff voice, "Ning Yan, I like you. I want to..."

Before he could finish, a foot suddenly flew from the side and with a "bang" sent him flying. Su Yun appeared, nonchalantly dusting off her leg as if she had done a small, trivial thing. Mingling with a stunned Ning Yan, she said, "Don’t take him seriously. This guy has had ’Childhood Neurosis’ and ’Partial Development of the Brain’ since he was a kid. These conditions give him occasional seizures where he talks nonsense. That’s why his mom gave him to me to take care of."

Everyone around was dumbstruck, staring at the scene unfolding before their eyes. Ning Yan also stood frozen; Su Yu’s confession was so intense it was frightening. That look was like staring at a bitter enemy with deep hatred.

Ning Yan flicked her hair over her shoulder, quickly recovering from her initial stupor. She gently pushed Su Yun’s hand off her and then subconsciously touched her neck. Her expression was somewhat distant, as if Su Yu’s confession wasn’t directed at her, showing none of a normal girl’s reaction. This gave off a strange sense of discordance.

Ma Ziye stood frozen on the side, her hands clenched into fists, her teeth grinding against each other in anger. She had thought Su Yu’s words were a secret hint for her. The reality was that she had simply been deluding herself. She now felt not only embarrassment but also a sense of humiliation.

"What’s so good about this Ning Yan? Is she nothing more than a pretty face? Is Su Yu also that shallow? Does he only love beautiful women? Humph!" she thought bitterly.
