Chapter 721: 552

Su Yu had slaughtered the "Three-Star Elite Beast General" Bronze Hungry Ghost, devouring three star-shaped Crystal Cores which led to a surge of energy within his Bronze Giant Arm, almost to the point of bursting. Su Yu realized that he was finally on the brink of another breakthrough. He had lost count of how many monsters he had killed along the way, the energy he had absorbed was enormous. If he had not tried to transform all his special power within his body into Bronze Droplets and insisted on gasing the Bronze special power, he would have broken through long ago.

Following the slaying of the Bronze Hungry Ghost, a tremendous sound resembling thunder erupted suddenly in the entire "Hungry Ghost City". The city began to collapse from the center, creating a giant chasm. Many Bronze Warriors, who were engrossed in battle with the hungry ghosts, were taken aback and fell into the chasm along with the hungry ghosts.

Su Yu approached hastily, only to see countless black cocoons emerging from the base of the chasm. The heads protruding from these cocoons resembled skeletons, teetering on the brink of turning into hungry ghosts. Some were in better shape, still retaining some aspects of their humanity. When a large number of Bronze Warriors fell into the chasm before they could react, a succession of hissing sounds echoed through the air. Countless black threadlike creatures suddenly spurted out, covering the Bronze Warriors in black thread.

The black threads coalesced into a giant cocoon, with the heads exposed. The Bronze Warriors writhed endlessly within the cocoon, their faces shrinking noticeably, as if something was being drained from them.

Seeing this, Su Yu gulped nervously and suddenly realized how these hungry ghosts were created.

Behind the mass of black threads that had just been sprayed lay an enormous monster as large as a mountain. The monster lay in the chasm, its belly housing numerous small holes. These small holes resembled a beehive, each one containing a black cocoon that was on the brink of turning into a hungry specter, similar to numerous bees that were concealed within a hive.

The creature in the chasm was a giant Hungry Ghost. Standing more than thirty meters tall, this monstrous specter evoked the image of a mountain as it lay there. It wore a look of maternal affection as it gazed at the black cocoons sinking into its belly, resembling a parent watching over their children.

All the Bronze Warriors had immediately rushed to the edge of the chasm and were shocked to see the massive Hungry Ghost lying there. However, the smart ones started summoning long-range attacks and began assaulting the resting Hungry Ghost.

Due to its enormous size, this Hungry Ghost must be of a high level. If they could kill it, there was a chance they could evolve multiple levels. Furthermore, they had all passed through the first world and concluded that this colossal Hungry Ghost and the Bioqueen from the first world were likely similar creatures, the final guardian of this world. If they could slay this creature, the exit from this world would surely be revealed.

Whether they were attacking this creature for the chance to evolve or simply wishing to leave this world sooner, hundreds of Bronze Warriors had gathered at the edge of the chasm. Without needing any command, they decided to use their most formidable attacks all at once.

Qin Jiagui launched a barrage of attacks using his Double Shoulder Cannon Tower and side-armed Chase Cannon while Ma Ziye hurled her Steel Poisonous Spear. Yano shot his Green Smoke Sword from afar as Yang Yue released her Ice Spear. Zhu Xiuqi, who had shape-shifted into a giant toad, opened her mouth wide and hurled her Sulfuric Acid Foam Arrow. Han Xiao unleashed her "Air Cannon" by clapping her hands together while Ling Sha, capable of transforming herself into a liquid, lashed out a long whip of water.

Upon impact, the water whip left a mark on the round belly of the massive Hungry Ghost in the chasm, causing one of the black cocoons to explode and black liquid to spurt out.

Enraged by the sudden attacks, the enormous specter shuddered and raised its palm high, before giving a powerful slap.

With a series of loud bangs, several Bronze Warriors were immediately crushed by the colossal hand. The gigantic specter then began to wobble as it slowly rose from the base of the chasm.

Despite countless attacks against it, it remained unscathed without a scratch.

Hundreds of Bronze Warriors blanched and retreated in fear. The colossal specter roared and tilted its head up to scream, before lowering its head and ejecting a jet of black liquid from its mouth.

Rains of liquid descended, instantly engulfing scores of Bronze Warriors. Among them were First-Level warriors along with several Zero-Level and Second-Level warriors. As soon as they came into contact with the black liquid, hissing sounds began to emit from their bodies along with plumes of black smoke. Their bodies and skin started to disintegrate. Within seconds, these Bronze Warriors were reduced to skeletons, their flesh completely dissolved, leaving behind only bones which had turned black.

The destructive power of the black liquid left the hundreds of Bronze Warriors in trepidation.

Su Yu activated his "Sacred Eye" and had already identified that the giant creature before him was the "Ghost King", the leader of "Hungry Ghost City" and the ruler of all ghosts. This creature, responsible for transforming various creatures into ghosts, was a formidable opponent. Unlike the Bioqueen which could only spawn Bio-Beasts and possessed no personal attack power, the Ghost King held an extraordinarily terrifying power within himself. The magnitude of this power exceeded the detection capabilities of even Su Yu’s "Sacred Eye", making it impossible to gauge the true extent of the Ghost King’s power. However, Su Yu was certain that the Ghost King standing in front of him was far more formidable than the Bronze Ghosts of the "Three-Star Elite Beast" rank.

Just a spray of its black venomous liquid was capable of obliterating several dozen Bronze Warriors, an ability that even Su Yu did not possess. To his astonishment, the Ghost King raised its foot, stomped on the earth, and emerged from the crevice, only to roar and spew venom once again.

Hundreds of Bronze Warriors scrambled to evade the spray of venom, among them was Ma Ziye. Seeing her in the trajectory of the black liquid, Su Yu’s expression changed dramatically, and he darted forward without uttering a single word.

With a swoosh, he wrapped his arms around Ma Ziye before she could react, narrowly escaping the spray of venom. However, several droplets of the black venom splashed onto Su Yu’s right arm.

Su Yu, in frustration, let go of Ma Ziye, only to find that spots on his arm that were splashed with the venom had begun to melt and dissolve, uncovering the flesh beneath. An intense burning pain seared through his skin. As he winced in pain, his black iron blood surged within, expelling the venom out in the form of several black droplets. A quick flick of his arm sent the venom flying, but the incident had left him covered in cold sweat.

The destructive power of the venom spewed out by the Ghost King had truly taken him by surprise.

Seeing that Su Yu’s black scales had melted to form a number of small pits, Ma Ziye’s face paled. She started to speak, but Su Yu swiftly intervened with a growl: "Move quickly..." As he pushed her away, he let out a battle cry and prepared to attack the Ghost King, using his Bronze Giant Arm to counter the oncoming stomp of the Ghost King’s right foot.

Following the Ghost King’s venom spray, another dozen Bronze Warriors lost their lives. Only Su Yu, having grabbed Ma Ziye, managed to escape, drawing the attention of the Ghost King. The creature immediately lifted its right leg and stomped down towards Su Yu and Ma Ziye.

Su Yu forcefully shoved Ma Ziye away, then swung his Bronze Giant Arm to withstand the stomp of the Ghost King’s right foot.

A thud rang out as Su Yu grunted and was thrown back, crashing heavily into the ground and forming a pit where he landed. The Ghost King staggered momentarily, but its right foot remained firmly planted on the ground.

It was clear from their confrontation that the Ghost King was far stronger than Su Yu.

Su Yu quickly rolled out of his landing spot as soon as he hit the ground. At that very moment, a sizzling sound echoed from the spot he had just been lying on. The ground melted into a massive pit under the onslaught of the Ghost King’s venom. If Su Yu had been even a moment slower in evading, the consequences would’ve been unthinkable.

Su Yu had drawn the Ghost King into a one-on-one fight, which left other Bronze Warriors fearful and retreating. None dared to confront the Ghost King directly, resorting only to ranged attacks, which were utterly ineffective against the creature.

Their faces paled as they realized that the level of the Ghost King must be several ranks higher than their own, explaining its ability to completely disregard their attacks.

Su Yu executed the "Eight-step Soar", grew Spine Bone Wings from his back, and seized the opportunity to lunge at the Ghost King’s head.

The Ghost King roared and swung up its right arm.

Su Yu’s face changed in alarm. He roared as the Ghost King’s right arm blocked his foot, resulting in a resonating clash. Like a kite without a string, Su Yu was thrown back in a tumble. The Ghost King teetered slightly, retreating a step.

It was clear that while the Ghost King surpassed Su Yu in strength, the difference was not significant. Their power levels were closely matched. (To be continued.
