Chapter 636: Chapter 488: Maya Civilization (6th Update) _2
After a moment of contemplation, he finally sat cross-legged in front of the bronze furnace at the center of the temple. He bit his index finger, whispered some words, and started to write on the bronze furnace with his blood.
What he wrote seemed like words or perhaps charms. Flames surged from inside the bronze furnace, turning the surface hot as if grilled. As the blood was written on it, there was a sizzling sound as it quickly evaporated into a waft of green smoke, slowly rising and disappearing into the air.
Yinkun’s face became increasingly pale as he wrote. When he finally finished, he exhaled deeply. His entire body was drained, his complexion deathly pale, as if exhausted.
As he was panting, a sudden burst of fire erupted from inside the bronze furnace, spraying out from the carved patterns.
Yinkun’s face changed drastically as he quickly backed away. If he retreated too late, he would be swept up by the intense fire.
Countless flames spurted out from the apertures of the patterns, quickly hovering over the bronze furnace and faintly forming a constantly shifting human figure.
"The message you sent... we have received..." A disjointed voice sounded from the fiery humanoid figure.
Yinkun had already respectfully knelt on the ground, not daring to raise his head. He said reverently: "That little demon is exceptionally powerful. Even my Elephant Head Deity was lost in the battle. Unless you honorable beings take action personally, the strength of Black Dragon Giant City alone will not be enough to deal with this little demon."
"An outsider... a little demon... has made you all... so helpless... it is truly humiliating... Prepare five bodies..."
"Yes." Yinkun was overjoyed to hear this. He immediately summoned five subordinates. These five subordinates respectfully entered. Just as they were showing a surprised expression at the sight of the vaguely formed humanoid figure out of fire on the bronze furnace, Yinkun had swiftly taken action.
Almost one per palm strike, these five people fell before they could even process what was happening.
Yinkun was obviously not the first time doing this, so he efficiently dragged the bodies of these five one by one next to the bronze furnace. He then respectfully knelt again and said in a reverent tone: "I respectfully welcome the arrival of the Holy Envoys." In his heart, he was secretly horrified. In the past, even if there was a crisis, it would only involve the arrival of a single Holy Envoy. But this time, he was asked to prepare five bodies. Doesn’t that mean that there would be five terrifying beings who are about to overcome the barrier between two worlds and descend here from another world?
This method of borrowing bodies for arrival was a clever way the Maya Clan devised to evade the Power of Rules. Although it couldn’t fully unleash one hundred percent of their power, it would let the beings descending from the Upper Realm, by borrowing bodies originally from this world, wield a power terrifying to this world.
After the five bodies are arranged, flames suddenly burst out from inside the bronze furnace, turning instantly into a sea of fire that engulfed all the five bodies. Soon, the kneeling Yinkun could clearly hear the eerie and terrifying sounds coming from inside. This process of personification through borrowed bodies was far from easy and even involved great agony as the souls of the original owners of these five bodies were destroyed and annihilated by the overwhelming external force in an instant.
Yinkun could clearly perceive the arrival of five powerful wills from above, pouring into the five bodies. He understood that the five Holy Envoys had descended.
A crisp "clucking" sound was heard as one body started to move first. The fire had burnt all the clothes on this body, leaving it naked, flames still billowing around it as it stepped out, moving its body, with a distinct sound being heard as hundreds of bones in its body creaked.
"Such a weak body, barely capable of unleashing half of my power, Yinkun, can’t you find a better body for me?"
Hearing this slightly teasing voice, the kneeling Yinkun immediately recognized it as the Holy Envoy from the Upper Realm who had once descended alone. He quickly paid homage and said, "Honorable Evil Child, your power is indeed too vast. For us in the Black Iron World, it is simply impossible to find a body that can fully unleash all your power."
Yinkun’s words drew a chuckle from the "Evil Child" standing before him. "Yinkun, your tongue remains as smooth as ever. Rise and swiftly make us five sets of clothes."
"Of course." Yinkun respectfully agreed, promptly preparing five sets of lavish silver robes. He had readied such apparel long ago, but hadn’t expected five beings to descend all at once. He’d luckily made ample preparations, or else he wouldn’t have been able to come up with the necessary items on the spot, which could have been disastrous.
The one called "Evil Child", while adjusting its body, donned a silver robe. When it glanced back, it noticed the other four bodies on the ground were also slowly stirring, attempting to adapt to their current fragile forms which seemed somewhat foreign.
"We haven’t much time to tarry here..." With the silver robe on, the Evil Child took a seat on the grand throne, leaving Yinkun -- the man who rules the Black Dragon Giant City -- no choice but to stand. He could distinctly sense the terrifying energy fluctuations hidden within these five individuals, which left him inwardly astounded.
Upon hearing the Evil Child’s command, he acknowledged, "Yes, I will prepare immediately. We shall guide the five Holy Envoys to Black Iron City." If only he had known the Upper Realm would send five Holy Envoys at once, he wouldn’t have sought Yano’s Demon Divine Beast. Still, Yinkun resolved to tell Yano, just in case, as his encounter with Su Yu in the Sky Main City had left him rather unsettled. Su Yu’s methods were just too eerily unpredictable.
This time, Yinkun didn’t summon a large army, but instead, guided the five Holy Envoys from the Upper Realm and Mayano to Black Iron City.
Upon their arrival, they could clearly see the Skeleton Ice City and Black Iron City standing side by side, their contrasting colors making for an uncanny sight.
"That’s Black Iron City and the Ice City that appeared out of nowhere. Apparently, it can even fly." As Yinkun introduced the sights from a distance, the Evil Child gave a slight nod, then turned to Yinkun and Mayano saying, "You two stay here. We’ll take care of things from here." In the eyes of those who hailed from the Upper Realm, the living creatures in Black Iron World were merely lower-class species. Neither Black Iron City nor Su Yu was taken seriously. Their arrival wasn’t entirely intended to counter Su Yu—not because they thought he could withstand the five of them—but to ensure absolute victory. A couple of them had even come out of sheer curiosity and boredom, fancying a chance to "play around" in the Black Iron World, as a diversion from their usual duties.
With an air of casual ease, the five Holy Envoys approached Black Iron City. At this moment, the high walls of the city had collapsed and were yet to be repaired, with some Black Iron Warriors busily attempting to mend them. Very quickly, the extravagant silver-robed figures drew their attention.
"May I ask who you are?" A voice questioned, filled with uncertainty.
The Evil Child, leading the group, paid them no heed. One of the Holy Envoys, however, looked rather interested, extending a hand and making a vague gesture in the air.
A soft ’swish’ echoed as two Fourth Order Black Iron Warriors, clueless as to what was going on, were suddenly split into pieces, their fabric of belief shattered. Until their death, they had no idea what had happened.
"Ye Sheng, you still have such a twisted sense of humor," Evil Child commented, shaking his head with a smile.
"Ye Sheng, your ’Shadow Tearing Claws’ isn’t as powerful as it used to be," another Holy Envoy threw in.
The man known as Ye Sheng responded with a wry smile, "This body of mine is too fragile. Remember, our adversary devoured the Elephant Head Deity’s Demon God, we shouldn’t underestimate him."
The moment their conversation ended, an intense warning siren echoed throughout Black Iron City.
Despite it all happening in the blink of an eye, the soldiers of the Black Iron City immediately associated the silver-robed men with their fallen comrades and sounded the alarm.
The Evil Child smirked, "It appears the other party knows we have arrived." (To be continued...For further updates, please visit www.qidian.com. More Chapters are available there, support the author and enjoy legal reading!)
