Chapter 459: Chapter 358: Venturing into the Demon Beast Mountain Range

"How come I feel that I am more handsome than him? Maybe you should marry me instead."

"Ha! If you had the capabilities he does, you could look like a toad and people would still love you. Without abilities, pretty boys like you are useless and worthless in this world."

"Alright, looks like I have to start pulling my weight from today on, with fighting Su Yu down as my target-"

Among the gossip, envy and idle chatter of these people, Su Yu had already set deeper into the "Demon Beast Mountain Range" with Dio in tow.

Dio put on a fair amount of weight these last few days and was panting heavily while running, but still managed to run as swiftly as a Fourth Order Black Iron Warrior. Su Yu followed behind at a leisurely pace. As soon as they entered the area, they could quickly spot monsters living in the Demon Beast Mountain Range.

They were just on the edge of the "Demon Beast Mountain Range" so they only encountered the third or fourth order beast soldiers. Su Yu concealed his aura, posing like a non-threatening individual to avoid scaring these monsters away. As expected, they were considered as easy prey and were quickly attacked by a third-order beast soldier.

Activating his "Perception Eye", Su Yu discovered that it was a third-level monster named Slime. It’s sticky and green all over, resembling a huge green caterpillar. Its grotesque appearance was hard to describe. The meat of a Slime Beast contained a strong toxin and consumption could lead to deafness, so it was not suitable for human consumption.

Dealing with a creature of this level was as easy as waving a hand for Su Yu but, he smirked at Dio, leaving him to face the beast. Before Dio realized something was amiss, Su Yu quickly jumped up to a nearby towering tree.

Immediately, the Slime Beast lunged at Dio.

Dio barked twice in panic and tried to leap towards the tree Su Yu had just jumped to. Ironically, it did manage to leap up, but was met with a swift kick from Su Yu.

Dio barked anxiously as it fell heavily to the ground. Su Yu sat comfortably on a tree branch, grinning, "Knight Dio, cheer up! This small creature is nothing to a knight like you who needs to protect Princess Ada."

Although Su Yu didn’t understand what Dio was barking about, Dio seemed to have understood Su Yu’s words. It barked angrily at Su Yu, but had no choice but to face the attacking Slime Beast.

Being only at zero level, Dio was no match for the third level Slime Beast. In no time, it was whimpering and crying out for mercy, tears welled up in its eyes.

Ada, lying on Su Yu’s shoulder, murmured, "Su Yu, are we being a little too cruel?"

Raising a mischievous grin, Su Yu replied, "Don’t worry, this guy is a rare species. It has been too lazy these few days. It requires more rigorous training. Despite its situation, I believe it would be rather difficult for me to kill it, let alone this Slime Beast. However, it definitely needs to have a taste of hardship."

Dio was battered and bruised by the Slime Beast. It was kicked off from another tree just as it managed to climb up and it fell down again with a despairing cry. Su Yu launched a "Tooth Burst", blasting off the branch Dio had just clung to. Dio was attacked by the Slime Beast once again. Finally, Dio, in desperation, leaped up to the beast, believing that Su Yu meant to kill it so as to keep Ada all to himself. Dio resolved not to let that happen and save Princess Ada from the evil Su Yu.

The infuriated Dio, twisted its body and bit down hard into the throat of the Slime Beast.

Leaning on him, Ada said with a smile, "Looks like Dio hates you to the core."

Making a show of helplessness, Su Yu responded, "In order to train him, I don’t mind if it sees me as the bad guy, I’m sure it’ll thank me later."

Once Dio eventually killed the Slime Beast, it was heavily injured and panting on the ground. However, its injuries were healing at a visible speed.

Against all odds, Dio at zero level had managed to kill a three-level Slime. Unquestionably, like a human being, it had evolved once again - this time into the First Order Realm.

"Stop playing dead, Knight Dio, let’s go." Su Yu had jumped down from the tree and was already standing ten meters away from Dio. He called out lazily, "If you don’t get a move on, I am taking your Princess Ada."

Lying on the ground, Dio let out an unwilling cry. However, with no time to waste, it got up to follow Su Yu, huffing and puffing. It could not let the evil Su Yu steal Ada away.

On their journey, they frequently came across third or fourth level monsters. Su Yu employed the same strategy, hiding away while Dio dealt with them.

This guy was cornered by Su Yu and couldn’t escape. All he could do was resist. After killing one monster after another, Dudu continued to evolve. Finally, it managed to evolve to the Fourth Order Realm. At this point, Dudu had developed formidable strength - just one roar had the potential to shake the four corners of the earth.

Both Su Yu and Ada watched on and nodded at each other, their eyes revealing a hint of surprise. They realized Dudu was indeed a remarkable wolf-dog. Even if it didn’t consider the power of the Destruction Horn, the average human Level Five warrior might not be able to compete with it.

As Dudu advanced in rank, its intelligence appeared to increase as well, and its movements gradually developed human-like qualities. However, there were still things it lacked - it couldn’t speak human language, and it still looked like a large grey dog.

One day was spent hurrying on the road and continuously training Dudu. After Dudu reached the Fourth Order Realm, its continued evolution became as difficult as it had been for Qin Jiagui and others.

In the fringe areas of the Demon Beast Mountain Range, the levels of the monsters were usually around the Third Level or Fourth Level, with a Level Five Beast Soldier appearing very occasionally.

Su Yu had once seen large groups of wild Fourth Order Horned Demon Horses gathered together. As soon as they spotted him from afar, they scattered into the wind.

Three days later, when Su Yu climbed over a hill, according to Ada’s calculations, they had officially crossed the most peripheral area of the Demon Beast Mountain Range.

Su Yu surveyed the surroundings, while Ada reflected solemnly, "If we go further inside, we’ll encounter stronger monsters. But this time our main task is to find the ’Water of the Netherworld.’ We should avoid getting into unnecessary trouble and wasting time here."

Su Yu nodded, sensing in the distance the presence of several Level Five Beast Soldiers covertly trying to approach him. In the first two days on the edge of the area, he would occasionally see people from other villages. But since their arrival here, there was no one in sight. It seemed that everyone was unwilling or too afraid to venture deeper into the Demon Beast Mountain Range.

"Dudu, let’s start running. You can’t keep being lazy. Even when you were at Zero Level, your traveling speed was comparable to a typical Fourth Level creature. Now that you’re at the Fourth Level, you should be speeding up. Hold on, I’m about to accelerate—" Su Yu gave a playful smile. He kicked off the ground swiftly, immediately covering a distance of ten meters in a blink of an eye and sprinting towards the heart of the Demon Beast Mountain Range.

At the same moment, the roaring of a few Level Five Beast Soldiers echoed from behind. They had finally found the perfect distance to launch their attack. However, Su Yu shot forward like an arrow, leaving them to pounce upon Dudu.

Dudu’s eyes flashed with panic. In its frenzy, it barked loudly, forgetting all about its laziness, and began to sprint after Su Yu.

"Seriously, this little guy can run fast." Su Yu smiled, constantly increasing his speed. Dudu somehow managed to keep up, its tongue lolling out as it panted.

The deeper they ventured into the Demon Beast Mountain Range, the more astonishing the things they encountered. Su Yu and Dudu’s intrusion was like casting two large stones into a peaceful pond, stirring up a thousand ripples. Soon, fearsome roars echoed from all directions. One after another, monsters appeared, none of them below Level Five.

Even Su Yu was taken aback by the sight, glad that they had listened to Ada’s advice to come alone. If they had brought Qin Jiagui and the others along, they would have been in serious trouble.

"Out of the way—!" Su Yu released his powerful aura, and with a swing of his arm, swiftly threw aside two Level Five beasts that were attacking.

The aggressiveness of these beasts exceeded Su Yu’s expectations. Even in the face of his imposing aura, these beasts continued to rush at him, hell-bent on killing the intruder that had dared to invade their territory.

Su Yu was forced to fight back hard, quickly taking out five beasts. Then, leading Dudu, he shouted, "Let’s go—!" and darted deeper into the wilderness.

Behind them, a group of Level Five monsters chased wildly. Dudu barked in panic, with its eyes full of anxiety, it sprinted even faster than Su Yu.

Su Yu cursed at his absconding companion. Stretching out his left hand, he deployed the "Apocalyptic Storm", pushing it towards the creatures following them.

With the sound of a "whoosh", the tornado formed by the Apocalyptic Storm immediately swept the group of Level Five monsters into its whirl. Meanwhile, Su Yu had already fled the scene, chasing after Dudu.

After a long sprint, Su Yu and Dudu finally paused for a break.

Dudu lay on the ground panting heavily, just like a human in need of rest. Su Yu also gradually sat down. Unlike Dudu, he wasn’t as exhausted, though he did notice a slight increase in his heartbeat.

At this moment, they had truly ventured into the deepest parts of the Demon Beast Mountain Range. The terrain of the forest here was significantly different from the Heavenly Pit Forest. The latter was largely flat, filled with dense vegetation; while the former had a rugged terrain with drastic height differences. There were places that could suddenly collapse into deep ditches or canyons, or places where cliffs as high as hundreds of meters would tower above. Also, the forest was sparser compared to the Heavenly Pit Forest.

"Ada, have you sensed the exact location of the ’Water of the Netherworld’? How much further do we have to go from here?" Su Yu asked, resting himself.
