Chapter 401: Chapter 315: Parasites of the Dark World (3rd update)

At the base of the pile of bodies engulfed by flames, a sudden tremor shook, followed by a faint, piercing shriek. Su Yu’s heart chilled, and with a "snap," he unsheathed his Golden Claw. He knew, the enemy was about to reveal themselves.

Almost at the same moment, the pile of bodies trembled, as several burning bodies were abruptly thrust into the air. Simultaneously, a figure burst out from beneath the pile. With a sharp shriek, the figure dashed out of the sea of flames, swiftly broke free of the fiery abyss, and Su Yu, at that same moment, saw the true face of his enemy, and was taken aback.

This terrifying enemy, unable to withstand the scorching flames, finally emerged. When it broke free from the life nest shrouded in flames, Su Yu was stunned. Because this terrifying being was merely a corpse.

The one that had suddenly burst forth, was a mere member of the countless ordinary corpses in this deep pit. It looked incredibly ordinary, its body was filled with the foul smell of rotting flesh, its stomach was torn open, the intestines even pulled out, there was no sign of life left. However, a strange black gleam flickered in its eyes.

Could it be that this fearsome creature, birthed in the "Life Nest" and capable of controlling human souls, is actually this corpse?

Su Yu was struck by a sense of confusion. Ada, perched on his shoulder with wide black eyes, said, "It’s this fellow, I can feel it, that cold aura."

Upon hearing this, Su Yu no longer hesitated. Immediately, he flicked his right hand, threw the "Landmine Devourer", and then activated the "Wrath of Thunder".

As the rain poured heavily, his golden ring exploded with lightning, forming several bolts of thunder, which heavily struck next.

Due to the conductivity of the rainwater, the "Wrath of Thunder" was even more terrifying.

The corpse had barely escaped from the fiery pit, its mouth issuing shrieks as it burned. When Su Yu threw the "Landmine Devourer", it barely dodged, only for the "Wrath of Thunder" to follow immediately, striking it heavily.

Su Yu concentrated the power of lightning, the electricity he struck with "Wrath of Thunder" discharging continuously, electrifying the corpse until it screeched non-stop. Its body shivered, and a scorched smell spread immediately.

When the power of "Wrath of Thunder" dissipated, the corpse had been practically fried into charred remains by Su Yu’s lightning, motionless in the heavy rain, the black gleam originally in its eyes disappeared too. It seemed to have completely lost its life.

Su Yu furrowed his brows, had he just killed this creature with nefarious powers so easily? Wasn’t it too simple?

"Su Yu, something doesn’t feel right. I can still feel it, that cold, evil aura." Ada fixated on the charred corpse on the ground with her two eyes, her expression slightly tense. Clearly, she was also very cautious towards this evil presence.

Su Yu, too, didn’t let his guard down as he walked closer in the rain. Getting closer, he could see that the creature’s eyes were closed, it looked just like a rotten corpse, except it was now a charred one. There was nothing strange about it.

Furrowing his brows, Su Yu couldn’t understand. Eventually, he extended his foot, giving the body a small kick, flipping it over.

When the body was turned over, Su Yu finally noticed an unusual aspect of the body, its spine protruded strangely, as if a giant earthworm was crawling on it. When Su Yu noticed it, this protruding backbone wriggled once more.

Su Yu’s heart rate quickened, the backbone suddenly rupturing the corpse’s skin, transforming into a streak of white light, and dashed straight towards him.

Su Yu was prepared, his Golden Claw whirling into action with a "snap," he grabbed at the white light.

With it in his hand, he realized that this was no backbone, but a strange bug, akin to the color and shape of the spine. It was now in his hand, struggling and writhing continuously.

When Ada saw this pale, strange bug, she couldn’t help but cry out: "I understand now, this is...oh no..."

At the same moment, an odd "rustling" sound echoed from the depths of the pit. Looking up, Su Yu saw hordes of these bizarre white bugs emerging from the pit enveloped in flames. Braving the blazing flames, they swarmed out like a monstrous tide. These insane, terrifying scenes resembled a roiling tidal wave of countless white creatures that began to surge towards Su Yu from all directions.

Observing the golden claw’s grip around the white bug, as well as the frantic bug swarm rushing out before his eyes, even Su Yu was forced to retreat continuously. At the same time, he shouted, "Ada, what the hell are these creatures?" Simultaneously, he activated the ’Perception Eye’, only to be met with an overflow of information - all of it unknown.

"These are parasites from the Dark World. Their appearance signifies that a crack has opened into their world, which makes the situation increasingly perilous." Ada’s voice changed, and Su Yu’s golden claw tightened, crushing the white parasite in his grip with a "pop," and a strange milky-white fluid oozed out.

As Su Yu cast his gaze on the approaching swarms of bugs, he continually retreated, watching as thousands of these creeping white parasites dispersed in all directions. Many burrowed into the ground, others fused into rocks, and some infiltrated trees and disappeared, making the scene particularly eerie.

Feeling that these bugs didn’t possess much battle power, Su Yu stepped back, furrowing his brow and asking, "Ada, so these parasites are the ones that can control people’s wills?"

"No," Ada replied. "Perhaps we were wrong from the beginning. The entity that can control human will... might not specifically exist. It might simply be a will generated by the opening of the Dark World’s crack, or perhaps during our four consecutive combined attacks, we already destroyed it. As for these parasites, they are the lowest-ranking creatures in the Dark World. They pervade the darkness and don’t possess much attack power. However, they can parasitize various things: humans, animals, beasts, even plants and machinery. The infected hosts will have their strengths significantly amplified. The capabilities of these parasites are truly appalling. As they spread everywhere, the Newbie Forest will soon morph into a terrifying forest of darkness."

Su Yu was startled and prepared to react when Ada sighed, continuing, "These parasites aren’t afraid of fire or lightning. There are so many that it’s futile; how many can your golden claw kill?"

Su Yu couldn’t help but pause, watching as the parasites from the Dark World, now blended and vanished into the surrounding environment, made it impossible for him to exterminate every single one of them personally.

"What should we do? Just leave these parasites in this forest?" Su Yu asked.

"You don’t need to worry about that," Ada responded lazily. "While it might cause a period of unrest, in no time at all, the guardians of this forest’s rules will clean it up. You can’t cause lasting chaos in this world that has existed for millions of years. The rule guardians are quite powerful."

Ada continued: "But Su Yu, don’t blame me for not warning you. Since these parasites from the Dark World are here, as the Dark World’s crack expands, higher-ranking lifeforms might start appearing through these cracks soon. This forest will become increasingly dangerous. Are you still planning to destroy the other two Life Nests? Actually, destroying these Life Nests now seems completely meaningless. I think this process... might be irreversible..."

Su Yu watched as the third Life Nest was devoured by the violent flames, saw the tide of bugs spewing out slowly dwindling, then looked at the still pouring rain in the sky and the darkness all around. After a moment of consideration, he said, "Let’s go back. Back to the Fire Elemental Space."

There was no point staying at this third Life Nest. As for the final two Life Nests, he had no idea of their location. Searching for them personally could consume a lot of time. So, Su Yu decided to return first.

Ada summoned the teleportation power of the "Pit", and they once again returned to the Fire Elemental Space.

Upon entering the Fire Elemental Space, they were greeted by intense heat. Wiping the raindrops off his face, Su Yu hopped onto Ada and began sprinting towards where Qin Jiagui, Ma Ziye, and the others were.

Ada’s speed was incredible. At its extreme speed within the first level of the Fire Elemental Space, they caught up with Qin Jiagui, Ma Ziye, and the rest in half an hour.

"Huh?" Su Yu, with his sharp eyes, immediately noticed other people gathered there aside from Qin Jiagui and fourteen others.

Feeling slightly apprehensive, Su Yu patted Ada and whispered, "Quicken." Ada instantly sped up again, shooting forward, and Zhang Zhongmou was the first one to shout upon catching sight of them, "It’s Su Yu! He’s back!"

"Su Yu!" Qin Jiagui also cried out.

"Everyone." In a flash, Su Yu leaped off Ada and dashed into the midst of everyone, his eyes then quickly shifted to the unfamiliar faces, cautious and prepared for any situation.

Apart from Qin Jiagui and the other fourteen, there were six strangers standing to the side. Among these strangers was a plump, friendly-looking boy with a round face. There was a small category 5 lifeform perched on his shoulder. When he saw Su Yu, his eyes widened in shock, his face an image of astonishment as if he recognized Su Yu.(To be continued, please visit www.qidian.com for more exciting Chapters.
