The downpour continued ceaselessly, the whole forest enveloped in a relentless rainstorm that was quite rare, making it exceptionally difficult to traverse the woods in the darkness and rain.

Everybody had only taken a few steps when Yuan Niping let out a yelp. She had tripped on a vine and fallen. Luckily, as a fourth-order fighter, she was agile, managing to break her fall with her hands to avoid a full face of mud.

Qin Jiagui quickly helped her up, saying, "Everyone, it is so dark and raining so heavily that we can hardly see our hands in front of us. Let’s wait till tomorrow." He said, wiping the rain off his face, visibly exhausted.

In the pouring rain now, everyone found it hard to even keep their eyes open. Whenever they tried, water would flood into their eyes, forcing them to constantly wipe their eyes, coupled with the darkness, conditions were incredibly harsh.

Su Yu had initially aimed to destroy the other three life nests as soon as possible and then leave the forest immediately. He gave credence to Ada’s intuition. However, the darkness was like ink, even the faintest light was not visible, and together with the ongoing torrential rain, moving around the dense woods was indeed challenging. Even Su Yu found it hard to make any progress.

Li Dong shouted, "Let’s go back! It’s not that urgent with just one night. This damned rain is terrible. We would just be walking into the enemy’s hands like this. They may even set traps. In the storm and darkness like this, we might meet our doom."

Seeing everyone hesitate, Su Yu was left with no choice but to say, "Let’s go back and rest for the night, and we will set off again tomorrow morning."

Ma Ziye replied, "Big Smoker, aren’t you being too demanding?" Even though she was wearing animal skin clothes, which weren’t soaked, the rain getting inside her clothes made her very uncomfortable, too.

Upon hearing Ma Ziye’s words, Zhang Zhongmou suddenly jumped up, "That’s right, my cigarettes—" He hurriedly reached into his pocket and soon, to his dismay, found all his cigarettes soaked. He quickly checked the few packs of cigarettes in his bag, only to find none of them had been spared.

"Oh my god—" Zhang Zhongmou was incredibly frustrated, his face turning black.

Su Yu was equally uncomfortable. Seeing that the women’s clothes were thoroughly soaked, their appearances were indeed pretty unseemly. He nodded and let everyone gather around him so that Ada could transfer them all to the Fire Elemental Space.

Upon entering the Fire Elemental Space, everyone was hit with a wave of scorching heat.

Although the forest was caught in a heavy rainstorm and pitch dark, the Fire Elemental Space was filled with a red glow. Everywhere were clusters of flaming red rocks emitting extreme heat.

"Everyone, wait here for a while. Your clothes will be dried soon." Qin Jiagui sat down with Yuan Niping on his arm, saying this with a slight smile.

The others also found spots to sit down. The temperature here was scorching, like the blazing sunlight in the height of summer.

Zhang Zhongmou even ran to place his cigarettes on the edge of a nearby magma pool. Before long, every stick of cigarette had been dried.

Everyone, who was originally completely soaked, started to feel their wet clothes and hair drying after staying in this world for a short while. Soon, the heat became unbearable.

"Look, a team has entered here." Suddenly, Zhao Shichang pointed to the distance and chuckled. A pillar of light had just shot up into the sky there but had quickly collapsed. Zhang Zhongmou knew that this was a sign that a category 5 life form had entered the Fire Elemental Space.

"Let’s go back." Su Yu got up and had Ada transfer everyone back to the factory. Once they returned to the Forest World, the air immediately felt cooler. It was still dark outside and the rain was still pouring down incessantly.

After returning, Su Yu suddenly noticed Ada slump down from his shoulder.

"Ada, what’s wrong?" Su Yu was startled and quickly caught Ada as she tumbled down.

Ada now lay exhausted in his arms and spoke weakly, "It’s nothing, I just need to rest for a while."

Su Yu pondered briefly, then asked, "Does teleporting consume a considerable amount of energy?"

"Mmm..." Ada responded softly without another word.

At this, Su Yu suddenly realised the situation, slapping his forehead in regret. He should have realised that Ada, having been teleporting nonstop throughout the day, would be drained and exhausted from the energy and effort expended. Now, she had finally collapsed from fatigue.

"Ada, why didn’t you tell me earlier?" Su Yu sighed, gently stroking Ada’s soft body.

Ada cracked open her eyes and softly replied, "It’s okay...just need to rest for the night...". Then, her eyes shut again as she succumbed to fatigue and fell asleep.

As Su Yu looked at the exhausted Ada, he felt deep self-blame. All this while, he had been using her as if she were a machine, forgetting that Ada was a living creature. It was no surprise that constant teleportation would wear her out.

The group searched for a place to rest in the dark factory. The sound of the heavy rain outside and their thoughts of the day’s events and the eerie Life Nest were making them restless and uneasy.

Zhang Zhongmou took out a dried cigarette from the Fire Elemental World. After setting one between his lips, he tossed another to Su Yu and asked the rest of the group, "Anybody else wants a smoke? It helps to ease the worries."

Accepting the cigarette, Su Yu couldn’t help but remember the time when they were still weak and struggling in the forest. He used to smoke quite a bit then. However, after they arrived at "Freedom Village", he barely touched cigarettes. Holding the cigarette that Zhang Zhongmou tossed to him now, he found himself reminiscing.

Seeing that no one else wanted to smoke, Zhang Zhongmou stood up, sat down next to Su Yu, and lit Su Yu’s cigarette. He then lit his own and quipped, "These fellows are all prudes. What’s wrong with smoking? If you don’t appreciate the taste of smoke, you’re not a real man."

Ma Ziye retorted, "Smoking is harmful to your health. I think real good men don’t smoke."

With a bitter smile, Su Yu asked, "So, with what the two of you just said, should I smoke this cigarette or not?"

Zhang Zhongmou burst into laughter and slapped Su Yu on the shoulder, saying, "Who gives a damn? Smoke if you want to, don’t if you don’t. Why would you care? It’s tiring to live like this."

Unable to resist, Ma Ziye sighed, "Actually, I envy Big Smoker. He can amuse himself and seem worry-free no matter the situation."

With a smile, Su Yu quizzed, "Amusing oneself? Careful there, that phrase could easily be taken out of context. Old Moul, do you often amuse yourself?"

Zhang Zhongmou was taken aback, not immediately understanding. But after a moment, he burst into laughter, "Damn, you’re a naughty one. I bet you’re the one who amuses himself every day, but you’re putting it on me."

Ma Ziye felt out of the loop, staring at the two men without a clue as to why the phrase "amusing oneself" was funny. On the other hand, Yuan Niping chuckled clearly having understood their banter.

Curious, Ma Ziye turned to question Yuan Niping about the source of their amusement. Yuan Niping’s face blushed, she bit her lip and refused to explain.

Their casual conversation lightened the oppressive atmosphere somewhat. Suddenly, Qin Jiagui spoke, "Guys, what do you think this ’Black and White City’ is?"

Ma Ziye responded, "He said they belong to the ’Black and White City’. Could that be one of the ’Ten Great Giant Cities’ that Meng Ting often mentioned as controlling this world?"

The thought sent chills down everyone’s spine as they exchanged glances. Could they be backed by such a terrifying force? Although they had no specific knowledge about the power and terror embodied in the "Ten Great Giant Cities", Meng Ting’s awestruck expression whenever she mentioned them was a clear indication of their significance. It was clear that their existence is far beyond their comprehension, certainly not within their current reach.
