Chapter 384: Chapter 302: The Stirring of Evil, The Power of Rules Shields (Fifth Update)_2
"Yes, or rather, the Power of Rules has been blocked. Did you see it? The sky suddenly turned dark, those dark clouds in the sky.... The Power of Rules should have been blocked by those clouds."
Murong Dingyuan exclaimed with both shock and joy, "Does that mean, we can now act freely here? We won’t be punished by the rules anymore?"
Ada nodded, but her face was devoid of any smile, "Yes, now even the most powerful entities won’t be punished for their actions here. However, whatever is blocking the Power of Rules... the dark clouds... Su Yu, my advice is that we should leave this forest immediately. The further away, the better. I fear... I fear that soon a horrifying change is about to happen here. An unimaginable terror will soon unfold."
Sighing, Ada climbed back onto Su Yu’s shoulder, knowing that Su Yu and the others had already decided to seek revenge and it was pointless to persuade further.
Su Yu pondered for a moment. The sudden change in the sky and the disappearance of the Power of Rules all suggested that something unusual was indeed occurring in this forest. However, Lin Shi and the others were determined to seek revenge. Would he have to abandon them again just like the previous time?
After a brief hesitation, Su Yu finally said, "Lin Shi, there’s a change in the situation. It seems that a terrible event is going to happen soon. We need to go and destroy the other four Life Nests immediately. Once we’ve destroyed the four nests, you have to leave this forest with us immediately. Everything else can be discussed once we’re out of this forest. Is that okay?"
Lin Shi nodded, saying, "I understand. Let’s do it that way." He too had started to feel an ominous foreboding and did not insist further.
"Alright, since we’re all agreed, let’s go now. Don’t delay. Lin Shi, lead us to the nearest Life Nest." Su Yu ordered, everyone stood up. With the Power of Rules being blocked, it was actually more convenient. At least for now, Su Yu, Ruan Ming Hong, and Murong Dingyuan could act without any reservations.
"When we’re there, Ming Hong, Brother Dingyuan, and I will take the lead. The rest of you should stick together in formation; don’t fight individually. Remember, this is important." Su Yu promptly instructed Qin Jiagui, Ma Ziye, and the others.
Everyone nodded one after another, taking his words to heart.
When it came to fighting, everyone was quite used to following Su Yu’s instructions. Lin Shi looked at Su Yu, and everyone else, and he felt like he was back to the day when they first arrived in this world. Back then, he and Su Yu were part of the same team, following their school leader’s orders, venturing deep into the forest, investigating this strange world.
Even then, Lin Shi was always in awe of Su Yu’s battle skills. Now, after working hard himself, his power had finally reached Fourth Order, which he thought was very powerful, but Su Yu had become a legendary Sixth-order Black Iron Warrior; a level which Lin Shi had neither seen nor heard of. Even the leader that managed school’s Lifeline Nest No.5 was merely a Level Five warrior, and he barely engaged in any fights.
So Lin Shi was very curious. Just how powerful had Su Yu, the Sixth-order Black Iron Warrior, become?
One thing he was certain of was his faith in Su Yu; just seeing how easily they destroyed the entities that had occupied their school gave him an idea of how formidable their power was.
After they made their decision, Lin Shi and Meng Bo led the way, with Su Yu, Qin Jiagui, Ma Ziye, Zhang Zhongmou, Ruan Ming Hong, and other tagging along. The group of fifteen left the school in a hurry, heading towards the location of Lifeline Nest No. 4 as indicated by Lin Shi.
Once outside, they could clearly feel the unsettling oddities in the sky. Looking up, they could see dark clouds gathering at the center of the sky, condensing into an enormous whirlpool of darkness, blocking out the entire sky and all light. Everyone felt a heavy cloud of dread in their hearts, vaguely sensing that something extremely terrifying was going to happen.
Ada wore a worried look, in her mind, they should be leaving this place immediately. But Su Yu and the others had decided that they would only leave after destroying the remaining four Life Nests, and she was helpless to change that decision.
She found human emotions beyond her comprehension at times.
Everyone continued to speed through the forest, with Lin Shi and the others pushing their pace to the limit. Yet, they found that Su Yu’s group could easily keep up. The only ones who were struggling were Su Yun and the other girls.
Lin Shi glanced back and quickly made out the slight difference in power of the others.
After about half an hour of rushing, Lin Shi finally stopped. The others behind him hurried to catch up, their rapid footsteps echoing in unison. Before long, fifteen individuals had gathered tightly behind a giant tree in a dense forest. In front of them, an old dilapidated factory covered in vines and unrecognizable plants came into view.
At that moment, a terrifying layer of dark fog swathed the decrepit factory. This veil continued to rise, spiralling into the dark vortex in the sky, continuously supplying energy. This made the abnormality in the sky ever more apparent, and even the power of the rules within this forest was momentarily blocked.
"One of the five Life Nests is in there," Lin Shi said as he eyed the factory overgrown with plants, then turned back to look at everyone else.
"Should we just charge in or sneak in and see what’s happening first?" asked Qin Jiagui.
Su Yu looked at Lin Shi. "Do you know the specifics of this place? Like how strong the enemy might be."
Lin Shi and his group had spent tens of days in the area, harboring enormous grudges. They should have a clear understanding of these Life Nests.
"The defense forces of these five Life Nests are similar and they usually have around fifty people," Lin Shi said. "However, they often send some of their people to patrol around the forest and hunt down newcomers to supply new bodies for the Life Nests. The actual number of people inside the Life Nest isn’t too many."
"About fifty? Given the fire that broke out in the school, I bet the others would have sensed that something was off. Those who were patrolling around have probably been summoned back. We’ve travelled this entire way without encountering a single Shadow Ghost," said Qin Jiagui.
Lin Shi and his group were referring to these people in black and white clothes as Shadow Ghosts, Qin Jiagui adopted their nickname as well.
These fellows were brutally slaughtering the innocents, acting like complete murderous ghosts. Referring to them as Shadow Ghosts was thoroughly appropriate.
Having heard Lin Shi’s explanation, Su Yu and the others had a rough idea. If the enemy’s defensive power here was similar to that in the school, then there was no need to worry. Just Su Yu alone could easily match dozens of Fourth Order warriors. Even if there were fifty enemies, they were not to be feared.
"Dingyuan, come with me. We’ll take a look first. The rest of you, stay here. If you hear a long howl, charge in immediately," said Su Yu. He decided to proceed cautiously, going in first with Murong Dingyuan while leaving Ruan Ming Hong and the others behind. If something was not right inside, they would have the time to get out. Su Yu also kept Ming Hong back in case anyone from their group is attacked by an enemy of fourth order or above.
Exercising caution in all matters was never wrong.
Murong Dingyuan nodded and followed Su Yu as he charged out. This time, Su Yu did not conceal his presence but charged directly.
With a thunderous "boom," Su Yu stretched out both arms, revealing his lizard arms, and directly collided with the locked iron gates of the factory. Under his terrifying force, the iron gates twisted and locks snapped apart. The twisted iron gates detached from the frame and hurled inward, their fall echoing resoundingly.
Lin Shi and his group hidden in the dense forest had their eyes wide open, watching the scene in disbelief. Ren Honglin murmured, "So this is the power of a Sixth-order Powerhouse? Indeed... it’s terrifying."
As Su Yu charged in with Murong Dingyuan after breaking open the iron gate, he paused, taken aback by what awaited them.
On the spacious square directly in front of them, dozens of men and women dressed in uniform half-black and half-white clothing were standing in solemn silence on both sides. Their eyes were focused straight ahead, as if they were arranged in a welcoming formation, awaiting Su Yu and the others’ arrival. (To be continued. Please visit www.qidian.com for more Chapters.
