Chapter 374: Chapter 295 Terrifying Scene (2nd update, asking for monthly ticket)
In a place that used to be a sports field, there now lays a massive pit with no visible bottom. The pit is filled with a liquid that emits a bloody red hue. Most horrifyingly, within this pulsating sea of red, there were mountains of corpses floating aimlessly.
A literal sea of blood on a mountain of corpses. Su Yu felt a chill crawl up his spine, as his entire body shivered at this horrifying sight.
Near the edge of this massive pit, there were unidentifiable giant machinery, its purpose and name unknown to Su Yu. One specifically odd piece of machinery, resembling a metallic column, extended into the sea of bodies, crunching and grinding the corpses much like a meat grinder. Body parts were strewn about. Even for Su Yu, who was no stranger to life-and-death situations, this gruesome scene was still beyond horrifying.
On this large, bizarre machinery, stood a few men and women dressed in black and white, appearing to be operating the machine. On another side, a few more similarly dressed people carried in fresh bodies, tossing them into the pit to add to the pile. Moreover, there was an array of odd red and blue cables, reminiscent of electric wires, running from the bottom of the pit into a large building nearby.
Furthermore, groups of five were seen patrolling the area dressed in similar black and white. Luckily for Su Yu, his hiding place was a safe distance away, enabling him to avoid detection.
Finally, Su Yu understood why those men in black and white had killed Lin Xiaolu, before carrying her body away. It was clear they collected bodies to throw into this pit, to join the sea of blood and mountain of corpses. The bodies were then ground up by the odd machinery. However, he had no idea what they were ultimately trying to accomplish. The scene before him was so shocking, the sheer number of corpses most likely exceeded a thousand.
Chilled to the bone, Su Yu was trembling uncontrollably at the sight before him, its sheer cruelty exceeding any imaginings.
Suddenly, a group of people carrying a person ran over from another direction.
One of those standing by the strange machine sneered and said, "You guys spent an entire night just to collect one body? If the higher-ups hear this, I guess you’re up for some punishment."
"Humph, you shut up. It’s not just a corpse we’ve got here." One of the men coldly responded as he patted the body over his shoulder, "We’ve captured a straggler. According to her, we might be able to find out where all the other stragglers are hiding, enabling us to deliver them all."
"Oh? In that case, it seems you’ve accomplished a lot tonight." The person atop the machine seemed mildly surprised and stopped talking. The other men, hoisting the person termed as the ’straggler,’ made a beeline for the distant large building.
Struggling to control his shock and feelings of deep-seated rage, Su Yu meandered around the large building and, following the men, soon ended up at the entrance at the back. Climbing up the building swiftly with the help of anti-theft windows and outcroppings, and with Ada constantly tracking the men, they were able to reach the fourth floor in no time. Ada then gestured for Su Yu to stop.
Silently, Su Yu managed to infiltrate the room, and stealthily followed the men’s footsteps. Soon, he heard hasty footsteps and quickly hid behind a door only to see the same men carrying a person termed as the ’straggler’, hurriedly enter another room. One of them reported in a low voice, "Reporting to sir, we have captured a suspected ’straggler’."
Su Yu, who was in very close proximity, dared not even breathe. As he shrunk behind the door without making the slightest movement, he heard a drowsy voice from outside, "Damn, disturbing me in the middle of the night. If she isn’t a straggler of worth, you lot can jump into the ’Life Nest’ and be one of those corpses."
The three figures outside quivered in fear, all rendered speechless. Silence ensued, followed by the sounds of clothing being shuffled. After a while, the voice boomed again, "Come in."
"Yes, sir." The three men dared to respond only now, and walked in carrying the ’straggler’.
Because he was too close, Su Yu did not dare approach any further. He could not see the situation inside, but could selectively listen to voices from within.
A light ’thump’ sound echoed, presumably the sound of a body being dropped onto the floor. Then, an earnest voice said, "When we found her, she was hiding in a dense forest not far from here. The moment she saw us, she started running. She seemed to recognize us, which is why we suspect she is a ’straggler.’ We worked together to capture her and bring her back for you to interrogate. If she indeed is a straggler, through her, we might be able to locate the hiding places of other stragglers and destroy them all at once. We’ve already lost many men because of these stragglers."
"Hmm, that sounds somewhat reasonable. You seem to have a good head on your shoulders. Wake her up; this master will personally interrogate her."
"Yes, sir."
Then there was a silence. About a minute later, a woman’s scream suddenly pierced the air. The familiar sound immediately wrinkled Su Yu’s brow. Could it be that this woman was once a classmate in the school? But he couldn’t recall who it could be.
As Su Yu was in astonishment, a series of rustling noises and screams came from within. Having recognised these screams as coming from the vaguely familiar woman, he hesitated whether to break in or not. Suddenly a snickering voice broke the uncertainty, "Don’t you think she’s quite attractive though."
Followed by another shrill scream from the woman Su Yu found familiar.
"Spill it out, where are your accomplices hiding? If you speak, we can spare your life. Otherwise, there are more than a hundred of us here, we can make you comfortable slowly."
A voice laughed maliciously, followed by a spit, then a man’s voice angrily said, "Stupid bitch, no gratitude at all–"
There was a loud smack, followed by the woman’s piteous moan and raucous scream, which was extremely piercing.
Su Yu, who was hiding behind the door, unconsciously clenched his fists. Although he wanted to learn some secrets initially, he couldn’t stand it anymore. With a push, he blasted the door in front of him into pieces, and swiftly stepped into the room where the continuous noises were coming from.
Caught by surprise, the few people in the room looked up in astonishment, and then saw Su Yu who barged in without attacking. Ada on his shoulder let out a low roar, immediately turning into a mass of black flames, and formed a huge circle, engulfing everyone in the room. Then, Ada screamed, "Teleportation, begin–"
By the time these people finally reacted and wanted to move, a strong white light suddenly emerged under their feet. Following that, a gigantic "Heavenly Pit" appeared. Su Yu and them, including the "remnant soul" woman, all disappeared into the pit in the room.
At this moment, it’s already too late to attempt any moves or escape from here.
When the light returned in front of everyone’s eyes, what they saw was a fiery red space. They found themselves in the first elemental layer of the Sixth Space known as the "Fire Element," brought there through the Heavenly Pit Power invoked by Ada.
This was Su Yu’s idea, and it was also deemed feasible by him and Ada. While in this forest, his actions were influenced by the Power of Rules. However, in the Elemental Space of the Sixth Space, there was no disturbance of the Power of Rules. If Ada could take the right opportunity, she could teleport Su Yu and the person he wanted to save into the Sixth Elemental Space together. Arriving in the Sixth Elemental Space, Su Yu would no longer be affected by the Power of Rules.
Ada turned back into a tiny point and landed on Su Yu’s shoulder. The others regained their senses from the initial shock. One of them exclaimed, "Fire Elemental Space?"
The woman on the ground had dishevelled hair, and the left side of her face was badly swollen. Blood oozed from the corner of her mouth, clearly she had just been slapped. Her face filled with astonishment as she looked up at Su Yu, a flicker of confusion flitted across her eyes.
Having been suddenly taken to the Fire Elemental Space by the mysteriously appearing Su Yu, the four people immediately stepped back. One of them stared hard at Su Yu in the middle, barking, "Who are you? What is this supposed to mean?"
Upon hearing the voice, Su Yu recognised it as the one belonging to the self-proclaimed "Gentleman". This man had a head of natural curls, chubby cheeks and a beard. At first glance, he resembled an artist, clad half in black, half in white. His face expressed shock and suspicion as he studied Su Yu.
Su Yu did not conceal his aura. The formidable presence he now emanated made the man feel a sense of trepidation.
Su Yu didn’t look at him, but stared at the woman on the ground. Upon seeing her, Su Yu finally understood why her voice seemed so familiar. It turned out that she was the school nurse back in their school days, quite well-known for her beauty. Su Yu still remembered that boys from the dorm would often pretend to be sick and go to the infirmary, just so they could be close to her.
All these were once pleasant memories. But when he saw her again, she was disheveled, naked, and her bare body was covered with scars. She appeared extremely in desperate straits, sitting bare in front of him. Her originally bright eyes were now filled with fear and confusion.
