Chapter 362: Chapter 287: Power of Rules (Third update, asking for monthly tickets)_2

Upon saying this, Ruan Minghong’s face revealed a trace of desolation. The other people around couldn’t help but wear a grave look upon hearing this. Su Yu hurriedly apologized, "I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to remind you of those unhappy memories."

Shaking her head, Ruan Minghong responded softly, "It’s...it’s okay. My heart... has long been numb. I’m still alive, but it’s just out of instinct now..." She chuckled bitterly, "I joined Wangdi Village, relying on Wang Di’s power and reputation to harass the weak. Maybe...bullying the weak is the only thing that brings me any joy. Otherwise, I would be swallowed up by the horrendous feeling of loneliness... Am...am I a bad person?"

Su Yu looked at Ruan Minghong, thinking how all her family, friends, and neighbors had fallen into the forest, and how she had to watch them die one after another. This kind of experience and pain was indeed indescribable. No wonder Ruan Minghong, despite her youthful appearance, exuded an air of melancholy akin to an elderly person.

"Miss Ruan, in reality, every survivor has their own poignant past and painful experience... But why did we decide to band together? Isn’t it because we all feel lonely? Because of this loneliness, we decided to stay together. Besides familial love in this world, there is also friendship. Miss Ruan, I believe you will overcome your inner demons... From now on, all of us here are your friends." Qin Jiagui said earnestly while holding a pole.

"Really? Maybe," Ruan Minghong replied with a bitter smile, but she didn’t say anything more.

Murong Dingyuan then quietly said, "I... fell in here with my younger brother... and then we got separated. Later on, I came across other groups, and we eventually made it out of the Newbie Forest together. After that, I joined ’Wangdi Village.’

Zhang Zhongmou questioned, "Don’t you miss your brother? Haven’t you thought about coming back here to look for him?"

Murong Dingyuan seemed reluctant to say much about his brother, responding reluctantly, "He was always stronger than me. He should be doing okay. I don’t need to worry."

The others exchanged looks, sensing the strained relationship between these two brothers. Yet, it was uncertain what had happened between them.

Amidst casual conversation, the raft had unknowingly arrived at the center of the river. Suddenly, there was an undercurrent in the originally tranquil Oblivion River.

Su Yu was the first to notice. As he quickly moved to the edge of the raft, he saw dark shadows beneath the water emerging.

In just a blink of an eye, many lengthy, fish-like shadows appeared underneath the water around the two rafts. The originally calm river now surged, causing the rafts to rock.

"Everyone, be careful!"

Qin Jiagui raised the alarm immediately. His right hand transformed into metal and his shoulder shuddered, prompting the "Iron Shoulder Cannon Shell" to ready itself. Its muzzle automatically adjusted, taking aim at the shadows below.

"Here it comes!"

Zhang Zhongmou shouted. A black shadow suddenly burst out from the water with a "whoosh," revealing itself as a monster resembling a shark but over two meters long. It had a unique horn on its head and was covered in white scales, making it seem more ferocious than any real-world shark.

Without saying a word, Qin Jiagui launched the "Iron Shoulder Cannon Shell".

There was a thunderous bang as the shell hit the creature, immediately causing blood to splatter. The monster had barely jumped above the water surface when it was blasted into countless pieces of flesh that splattered everywhere before going "splat, splat, splat" into the water. The scent of blood immediately permeated the air.

Apparently provoked by the bloody scent, the disturbance in the water intensified. The raft started rocking more violently. Noticing this, Su Yu asked anxiously, "Ada, can I take action in this river?" As he clenched his hands, golden lightning discharged ready to roast all the monsters in the water.

Just as he was about to act, a buzzing noise rang in his head as if something was about to explode. An anomaly began to appear in the sky too.

"Hold on, Su Yu, don’t act." Ada’s voice came out somewhat panicked. "The Oblivion River is part of the Heavenly Pit Forest’s rules. You absolutely cannot act."

A shiver ran down Su Yu’s spine, and he hurriedly unclenched his hands. Immediately, the anomaly in the sky disappeared along with the buzzing noise inside his head. However, the experience left Su Yu shocked.

So, this was the power of the rules? Just the mere intention to act could provoke such a terrifying reaction! If he had really acted, what kind of horrific consequence would he have faced?

Suddenly, he truly understood the meaning of the phrase: everything is under the rule.

Perhaps only those as strong as the golden eagle-headed creature could defy these rules.

Meanwhile, Su Yun took out her Black Iron Staff from her left wrist. Ma Ziye stood on the raft while black steel cables from her feet expanded, quickly binding the raft. Beneath them, the water surged as monster after monster rammed into the raft from below. Su Yu, Ruan Minghong, and the three other Fourth Order entities didn’t dare to act; they could only brace themselves.
