Chapter 271: Chapter 223: Humanoid Machine
Su Yu began to understand, asking, "What does it mean that twenty-nine teams must disappear within seven days?"
"Within seven days, you must kill 56 people from the other twenty-nine teams, which means that within these seven days, everyone else must die for you to be the victor and get the ’Divine Source’. Alternatively, either you get killed by people from other teams, or the deadline arrives and there’s more than one team surviving. In that case, everyone will be wiped out and no one will get the ’Divine Source’."
Ada’s voice became cold, and Su Yu’s heart seemed to sink into an icy abyss.
He has to wipe out all 56 people from the other twenty-nine teams within seven days to survive? If he fails even one condition, he will die?
"The red dots on this device represent the locations of the other twenty-nine teams. The blue light represents your current location," Ada continued. "Each team has such a device that can detect the position of other teams. Su Yu, be careful. You’re alone now, and you’re just at Level Five. We’re in a dangerous situation."
Worry filled Ada’s voice. For the first time, it realized how terrible the situation was.
Su Yu listened to Ada, calming down from the initial shock. He sat slowly against a wall, staring at the screen of the instrument, watching the blue dot that represented him and the twenty-nine red dots that were flickering.
"Ada, did you notice? Among those 56 people, how many are Sixth-order Powerhouses?" Su Yu massaged his temples, suddenly asked.
"Hmm, certainly not less than twenty. The majority of the rest are Fifth-order Peak Warriors." Ada replied.
Su Yu nodded, muttered: "Right now, even when transformed into the Lizard Beast, I’m only at Tier 5 Intermediate. If I use the power of the Golden Blood, Ada, do you think I can match a Sixth-order?"
Ada shook its head: "Su Yu, you have never seen a Sixth-order Black Iron Warrior, so you don’t understand how terrible a Sixth-order Warrior is. According to Ada’s estimate, even if you use the power of Golden Blood, you could surpass a Fifth-order Advanced Warrior and at most withstand a Fifth-order Peak Warrior, with not much chance of winning. As for the Sixth-order, you would definitely be killed."
Su Yu’s heart sank, "Ada, did your ability to traverse dimensions become ineffective after entering here? Is it impossible to return to the original world?"
"Yes, it’s useless. Once you enter here, you have to follow the rules of this place."
"So, can this light on the device be blocked by you? Or can anyone else block it?"
"It’s impossible, Su Yu, unless there are gods in these teams." Ada replied confidently.
Upon hearing this, Su Yu took a deep breath and said, "I see. But I think everyone will likely avoid each other and not attack each other in the first few days... After all, they don’t know the strength of the teams represented by the light dots on the device. Even if they could kill the opponent, they would suffer heavy losses, which is not a wise choice."
Su Yu pondered, his mind turning rapidly, analyzing the situation.
Ada added, "That’s right, at the start of these seven days, everyone will likely avoid meeting each other. But if they do meet, and there’s a significant power difference, they might still attack."
Su Yu smiled bitterly. He understood that Ada was referring to him having a significant power difference with others. After all, in the eyes of everyone else, he was just an ordinary Fifth-order Black Iron Warrior and he was all by himself.
"Su Yu, have you thought about it? You have seven days, while each of the other teams is far more powerful than you... No matter how you look at it, you cannot defeat those Sixth-order Powerhouses unless they end up killing each other, and you benefit from their fight. But this possibility is too small... This time, your death seems certain." Ada’s voice was filled with frustration and helplessness. This Category 5 Lifeform was also feeling desperate. They seemed to be in a desperate situation with no chance of winning.
"At the start of these seven days, everyone will likely avoid each other, which means I still have time..." Su Yu, in his meditation, suddenly seemed to have caught something and his eyes lit up.
"Su Yu, have you thought of something?" Ada noticed that Su Yu did not seem too worried, which made it a bit curious.
Su Yu gave a low hum, then said: "Since I have seven days... if I can become a Sixth-order Warrior within these seven days, combined with the power of Golden Blood in my right hand, I might be able to become the final winner."
Ada stuttered, then said: "Becoming a Sixth-order... is too difficult."
Su Yu softly said, "I know, but it’s our only hope." As he spoke, he stood up and continued, "Ada, do you know where we are right now? I believe there’s a reason we were brought here for an experiment. Surely, the aim isn’t just to make our thirty teams kill each other."
"I don’t know." Ada, who resembled a black tadpole, scrunched up his small nose as he spoke. "At present, I can only recognize the Black Iron World of the Forest and the Ten Great Elemental Spaces. As for everywhere else, it’s beyond my senses, including our current location. It’s neither the Forest World nor the Ten Great Elemental Spaces. This place is already beyond my understanding."
Su Yu glanced at the device on his left wrist. He noticed that every flickering point on it had a certain distance from the rest. It seemed like everyone had the same idea. At the very beginning, they were reluctant to meet each other, unless they were from a team that believed themselves to be incredibly strong and had absolute confidence.
While observing, Su Yu suddenly gasped. One of the twenty-nine red points had suddenly gone out.
"One went out? What happened?" Su Yu’s heart suddenly clenched.
Ada quickly responded, "Dead, one team has been eliminated." His eyes brightened. After all, an enemy team’s demise was good news for them.
"But if we look at these lights, they are evenly spaced, indicating that the thirty teams haven’t encountered each other yet. How did this team die?" Su Yu paused, then realized the truth. "I get it, besides the people from the other teams, there must be other dangers here."
After speaking, Su Yu suddenly turned around, his clothes rustling as he moved with incredible speed.
The world around him was dark and gloomy with remnants and rubble of various heights scattered everywhere, signs of destruction. To his surprise, upon turning around, he noticed a figure standing quietly around thirty meters from where he had been. The figure was a humanoid robot, about two and a half meters tall, and was composed entirely of black metal. This figure bore a striking resemblance to the metal robots one would only see in sci-fi movies.
The humanoid robot stood silently, and Su Yu could vaguely see the countless tiny wires connecting its joints. Su Yu could not sense any signs of life from it, which made it seem like an ordinary humanoid machine standing there.
Su Yu distinctly remembered observing his surroundings when he first entered this place. There hadn’t been anything there before, so how had this humanoid machine suddenly appeared?
Something was definitely amiss. Su Yu immediately activated the Perception Eye to gather information about the humanoid machine thirty meters away.
"I remember now, run!" Suddenly, Ada on his shoulder, as if realizing something, yelled in shock. Su Yu’s heart immediately tightened as a buzzing sound came from the previously lifeless robot, and it started to stir as though electricity had been pumped into it.
The Perception Eye relayed unknown data about the robot and issued a severe warning. It seemed to be telling Su Yu that the humanoid machine posed immense danger.
Full of trust in Ada, Su Yu acted immediately when he heard the words "run", coupled with the unusual response from the Perception Eye, Su Yu pivoted and dashed toward a segment of the broken wall.
With a whoosh, Su Yu soared over a two-meter-tall stone wall and landed heavily. As he braced himself to spring forward, he heard a thunderous rumble behind him. A terrifyingly bright white light lit up and fragments of rock flew everywhere. Su Yu roared, his upper body instantly covered in black scales, his left hand transformed into an Armored Shield.
With a smack, the Armored Shield shattered. Su Yu was flung forward with terrifying force as if he were a kite cut loose from its string, rolling in the air before crashing headfirst into another stone wall, leaving a body-shaped hole in it before rolling further in.
On the ground, he was bloody, scales peeled off revealing the blood seeping out from beneath. His Gasification Mysterious Power surged frantically within him, continually repairing his injured body.
After successfully evolving into a Fifth-order Powerhouse, this was the first time Su Yu had been seriously injured and he didn’t even know how it happened.
He took a deep breath, twisted his waist, and stood up again. Behind him, the wall he’d just broken through exploded once more. Amid the blinding white light, Su Yu activated the Armored Shield again as he staggered backward. (To be continued. To know what happens next, please visit www.qidian.com.
