Chapter 240: Chapter 200: Sixth-Order Powerhouse (Request for Monthly Tickets) _2
Lei Yu had always adhered to the principle of might over right, with self-interest at the heart of everything. At this moment, he could not comprehend the actions of Meng Ting, Xiao Bai, and the others.
Meng Ting looked at the three people before her: Lei Yu, Qin Jiagui who was fiercely defending Kou Xiaowei, then her eyes went far to Su Yu, who was still meditating on the side. In that moment, her thoughts spun, and she considered many things.
The power of Lei Yu and his companions was terrifying. Meng Ting guessed they were at least beginner level of Tier 5. Lei Yu was likely the de facto leader and could be a stronger beginner or at intermediate Tier 5. They would not be advanced or at peak level.
This is because there are very few at the advanced or peak level of Tier 5 within a thousand miles. Even though they came from Peach Blossom Town, the well-known Tier 5 in the town is something she had heard about even if she hasn’t met them. This trio of Lei Yu hadn’t even taken on a single Category 5 lifeform. They may be strong, but not unreasonably much.
Was it worth it to risk everything for Kou Xiao Wei?
Meng Ting quickly looked towards Su Yu a second time. She was amazed by his talent and made up her mind in an instant.
Not defending Kou Xiaowei would essentially mean giving up on Su Yu and the others. The talent of Su Yu convinced Meng Ting that he was worth investing in. As Freedom Village’s population grew larger, the crisis became more urgent. They were trapped at Tier 4 and unable to break through. If no effort was made soon, they might get swallowed by other forces, leading to an inevitable death.
If so, it was worth a shot.
The image of Xia Jun from Wang Di Village recurred in Meng Ting’s mind. She clenched her teeth slightly. Given that Qin Jiagui and the others were so eager to protect Kou Xiaowei, Meng Ting was prepared to gamble to truly integrate them into Freedom Village. Lei Yu had mentioned that the matter of Kou Xiaowei was a big deal, but firstly, Meng Ting did not wholly believe it, and secondly, even if it were true, Kou Xiaowei must have a significant background, possibly powerful? All in all, it was worth the gamble.
After all, if these three guys were taken down late at night, and all traces of them were wiped clean, no one would connect it to Freedom Village.
Meng Ting’s mind cleared up and a smile appeared on her face. In a soft voice, she said, "Brother Leiyu, there are some things in this world which are worth sacrificing everything for. Perhaps as a woman, Meng Ting does not understand many significant truths. But one thing I know is, if any of my friends are in trouble, even if it costs my life, I will not hesitate!"
On dictating the very last sentence, Meng Ting straightened her slender body, staring directly at Lei Yu, not giving an inch. Qin Jiagui, Zhang Zhongmou, Zhao Shichang, and the others, were deeply touched hearing her words. Meng Ting was indeed commendable for her friendship and support. Everyone knew how terrifying Lei Yu’s trio was, but Meng Ting went as far as risking an entire village’s lives to help them. That alone spoke volumes about her kindness.
"Miss Meng, I, old Zhang, am of the opinion that from now on, I’ll call you Sister Meng. As long as we survive this, whatever you say east, I, Zhang will never go west." Zhang Zhongmou, being impulsive, admired and valued the spirit of friendship the most. Meng Ting’s impressive words moved him. As he yelled, he drew the Red Lotus Sword from the bracelet. The bright red charm on the sword flickered uncontrollably, ready to be used.
Meng Ting’s words deeply touched Qin Jiagui and the others. The villagers of Freedom Village also began to posture themselves, quickly they surrounded Lei Yu and his companions, not showing the slightest hint of fear.
The groundswell of spirit that suddenly formed gave Lei Yu a feeling of stifling. His originally bold face gradually changed. In a moment, he embodied the image of a volcano suddenly erupting, making everyone around him feel as if he had turned from a docile kitten to a ferocious tiger with claws ready to strike.
"Friends? Loyalty? Friendship... Damn it, again with such trivial stuff!" Lei Yu’s body suddenly started to crackle lightly, a chain that hung around his neck began waving unstably. Blue-white electrical sparks resembling tiny snakes popped out from the chain, making crackling sounds. An imposing and menacing aura surrounded him and kept rising.
"You foolish creatures. Originally, I showed you pity and tried to persuade you kindly. Yet, akin to humans showing compassion to stray cats and dogs, these strays instead bare their claws and fangs, attempting to harm the humans who treated them kindly...You... are just like these lowly cats and dogs—"
With a "pop, pop" resonating, suddenly a thunderball emitting blue-white glaring light burst out from his necklace. Blue-white lightning quickly erupted from the thunderball, infusing its power into his body. Instantly, his cloak flew up, and on his body surface sprang small serpents of lightning as thick as fingers. The crackling sound of thunder was incessant, its might incomparably terrifying.
This Lei Yu evidently also possessed a Primordial Beast of thunder attribute. Moreover, he could absorb the lightning power of this "Primordial Beast" thunderball into his body and use it for his own purposes. Just this ability alone was enough to testify that his strength was unimaginable.
"I’ll give you one last chance. Step back and hand the child over to us, or... do you want to receive the punishment of this thunder and lightning?" Lei Yu extended his right hand, on which blue-white lightning was continuously skipping like a magic trick.
Meng Ting smiled a little, "I also give you two choices. Surrender and we’ll spare your full bodies, or resist and be reduced to nothing."
Meng Ting’s words were very direct. Either peacefully surrender or if a fight broke out, they must kill all three men. If any of them escaped, it would be a catastrophe. Their powers were still weak, and they could not provoke any forces. If they were forced into conflict, then they could only kill to keep their secrets safe from spilling out.
Meng Ting’s baby-faced smile contrasted sharply with her words, making Lei Yu almost explode with rage.
Though Meng Ting was only a Fourth Order, she dared to speak to him in such a way as if she was in control of their lives. This feeling was as bizarre and infuriating as if a three-year-old child without any background or power told a much stronger adult with a deep-rooted background: "Kneel down and beg for mercy, and I’ll spare your body."
"Since this is the case, you all can go to hell—" Lei Yu exploded in anger and terrifying thunder exploded from his body straight away.
"Meng Jun!" Meng Ting shouted sweetly, waving her hand. Meng Jun understood her gesture and his body began to glow. Melted iron surged out, intertwining and rushing out. The target of his attack was not Lei Yu, but the gaunt-faced, weirdly yin yang middle-aged man with eyes like poisonous snakes standing behind Lei Yu.
Meng Jun was the strongest among them. Even before Meng Ting decided to aid Qin Jiagui, she had already calculated that combining the forces of Qin Jiagui and others, several Fourth Order beings and countless Third Level beings, they could hold off the young man, especially since Cao Xiaoyu’s ability seemed to be rather special. With the combined strength of Qin Jiagui and his group, holding off this young man should not be a problem for now.
Her group, consisting of Xiao Bai, Zi Yu, Zhou Zhurou, and other Fourth Order individuals would deal with Lei Yu - the strongest from the opposing side.
Both Meng Ting and Zi Yu were at the peak among the Fourth Order, not too far from ascending to the Fifth. All they lacked was a certain understanding - once they comprehended it, they could enter the Fifth Order.
All of them working together to hold off Lei Yu should not prove to be a problem.
The real victory or defeat would depend upon Meng Jun. As per Meng Ting’s estimation, the strongest among them, Lei Yu, was just of Intermediate Level at most, while the other two individuals should be weaker, probably at the Beginner Level. However, when Meng Jun exhibited his true strength, he came off as a strong fighter of Tier 5 Intermediate. As long as Meng Jun dealt with the gaunt man, the odds of winning were definitively on their side.
Of course, before all this, Meng Ting has another stronger and more terrifying move to unleash. (To be continued, for more of this story, please log onto www.qidian.com. There are more Chapters available to support the author and legal reading!)
