A Crazy Love Proposal -
Chapter 236 - 236 124 Dad
Chapter 236: Chapter 124 Dad Chapter 236: Chapter 124 Dad The financial world is ever-changing, with countless businesses declaring bankruptcy overnight. Magu Bank managing to hold on for half a month was already quite the feat.
It was all because the top executives were making nonstop decisions that they were able to drag it out this long, at least long enough to transfer some assets.
Starting with the purchase of long-term bonds was a mistake, trying to play it safe turned out to be the quickest path to death. If they hadn’t put their money in long-term bonds and had more liquid assets, Magu wouldn’t have perished.
Yun Yuwan had changed Wen Yangzhi’s WeChat nickname to Mr. Danger.
When Wen Yangzhi came back and saw her nickname for him, he asked indifferently, “What does this mean?”
“It means you’re a dangerous man, and I need to be careful around you,” she complained.
Wen Yangzhi wiped his hands with a wet tissue, “Then be more careful, I can’t help you.”
Her lips curled up mischievously as she boasted, “Before this, I stored you as Mr. Big.”
Wen Yangzhi certainly didn’t think she meant a big shot. He understood instantly what big referred to and chuckled lightly.
Such a tease.
“So, not Mr. Right?”
Yun Yuwan declared proudly, “That’s different. Both Mr. Danger and Mr. Big are compliments to you.”
Wen Yangzhi finished wiping his hands, tossed the wet tissue away, and slapped her on the butt, “Knock it off.”
She scooted towards the end of the bed.
Yun Yuwan tested him, “Then what about all the rumors saying I’m your wife? It’s pretty much public by now.”
“It doesn’t matter.”
When he said it didn’t matter, Yun Yuwan was secretly smiling with her phone.
“Do you have any plans for our marriage?”
Wen Yangzhi’s warm dry hands held her calf muscle, pressing on the part she said was sore, “No.”
She doubted, “Really no plans?”
From behind her, Wen Yangzhi’s indifferent ‘Mm’ came.
Yun Yuwan didn’t believe him; he was probably just being stubborn with his words.
Not minding the rumors at all meant he must have some kind of plan in his heart.
Perhaps he was even secretly planning a proposal.
Even if not, he should be mentally prepared.
She turned off her phone and shifted slightly, catching sight of Wen Yangzhi’s reflection: the broad shoulders narrowing down to a slender waist, his muscle lines clearly defined.
Wen Yangzhi’s figure was truly impressive.
She giggled to herself.
He heard her laughter, “What are you so happy about on your own?”
Yun Yuwan looked at Wen Yangzhi’s reflection and just smiled mysteriously, not answering him.
She continued to giggle.
That night, as they went to bed, Yun Yuwan clung to him like an octopus, her hands roaming his arms and abdomen. She caressed his lean and toned muscles, the contours rising and falling, transfixed by the sensation.
Resting her chin on his bare shoulder, Yun Yuwan heard an almost asleep Wen Yangzhi let out a sigh, then a resigned voice, “Have you touched enough?”
She finally stopped, sprawling on his shoulder, “Alright, you go to sleep.”
He wrapped his arms around her, holding her so tightly she couldn’t move.
Yun Yuwan stared wide-eyed.
The next day, when Wen Yangzhi returned home, as soon as he entered the room, he heard Yun Yuwan’s soft moans:
“Brother, help me.”
“Help me, I feel so…”
“Brother…”
He saw her covered with a blanket, writhing on the bed, her lips rosy red, her hair spread across the pillow.
Wen Yangzhi quickly reversed to lock the door, shedding his coat and striding forward.
But as he approached the bed, Yun Yuwan suddenly stretched a foot out from the blanket, wiggling her short toes:
“Brother, my foot is so itchy.”
“It feels like something bit me, can you scratch it for me?”
Like a bucket of cold water dumped over him, Wen Yangzhi silently withdrew his hand from the door:
“What bit you?”
She sat up, holding up her foot, “I don’t know.”
Wen Yangzhi sat down, and Yun Yuwan put her foot on his chest for him to examine.
Wen Yangzhi looked down, “Where does it itch?”
She leaned closer to Wen Yangzhi, her clear eyes fluttering, “Actually, it’s my heart that’s itching.”
He looked down at her, “For what is your heart itching?”
Her foot on his chest nudged him, “It itches for the taste of Wen Yangzhi.”
Wen Yangzhi laughingly sighed.
Meanwhile, at a party elsewhere in the city, some were discussing the latest sensational news.
“So Yun Yuwan is really together with Director Wen?”
“If they weren’t, with all the news about them, they would have made a PR move already.”
A guy laughed and picked up his cocktail, “Kind of biting the hand that feeds her, huh? Kept at home, yet managed to hook up with her own brother.”
Someone quickly joined in, “It is a bit unsavory; I thought she was with Yang Ni. To think she’s using Yang Ni to climb up to Wen Yangzhi.”
Such good taste, picking the highest and most powerful eligible bachelors from both the political and business worlds.
“I thought it was Jiang Yingyu; doesn’t he ‘like’ every single one of her social media posts? And she even replies to Jiang Yingyu’s comments.”
Someone sneered, “Her social circle is nothing but selfies and showing off her wealth. A while ago, she had to flaunt a black pearl necklace she bought. The quality of that black pearl is so mediocre, I’d be too embarrassed to show it off, yet she’s a scion of a banking family.”
“Isn’t that the black pearl necklace she wore at the party?”
Men might just like that type—someone who’s not sophisticated but pretty, easy to hook.
“Wen Director could have chosen someone with a better family background,” someone mocked.
A voice suddenly cut in, “Why don’t you say he should pick you, always gossiping behind people’s backs, you busybody.”
Everyone looked back to see Zhu Nongzhang holding a bottle of champagne, standing at the door with an indifferent expression on her beautiful face.
Someone quickly tried to defuse the situation, “Nongzhang, it’s just harmless talk among ourselves.”
The person who spoke before continued sarcastically, “Exactly. Besides, she does have some tricks. She was virtually unknown before, but suddenly became the most sought-after in this circle.”
Even the hard-to-get Wen Yangzhi has been caught in her net.
Zhu Nongzhang said coldly, “What do you all know? Their families have been friends for generations. They’ve looked after Yun Yuwan these past few years out of old affection. Both families are thrilled to become one; it’s only in your eyes that it looks like a woman utilizing tactics.”
Someone, puzzled, retorted, “Why do you speak for her? You clearly despised her before.”
Zhu Nongzhang didn’t flinch nor dodge, meeting the other’s gaze head-on, “I disliked her before due to some issues, but she never talks about others behind their backs. She hasn’t had any grievances with you all, so why malign her in her absence?”
A young man nonchalantly playing with his phone chimed in, seemingly defending the previous speaker, “She is indeed pretty, I would also like to try. It’s understandable for everyone to be curious.”
Zhu Nongzhang kept silent and had someone open the champagne, but unexpectedly, she directed the spray right at that young man, dousing a huge area of his shirt.
The young man quickly stood up, as others offered him tissues to wipe down, “What kind of service is this, didn’t you see that there are people in that direction?”
Zhu Nongzhang retorted, “And how do you conduct yourself? To be so morally bankrupt.”
The young man shot back, “Talking a bit makes no difference; after all, we’re stating facts here, aren’t we?”
Zhu Nongzhang responded sarcastically, “When the Wen Family adopted Yun Yuwan, there might already have been an engagement that just wasn’t publicized yet—this is the true alliance through generations. The Yun Family took her in right after her parents passed away, the Wen Family remembered the old affection, and the Yun Family was willing to trust. But in your mouth, it’s all spun as if it’s something nasty.”
She glanced at security, and they immediately approached to escort the young man out, “Sorry, your clothes are dirty. Let us take you to change.”
The young man scoffed, “Don’t touch me; do you think I even want to stay here?”
After that young man left, no one dared to say anything more.
Her words resounded as she declared, “In the future, at Zhu Nongzhang’s parties, if I hear anyone speak ill of Yun Yuwan again, they’ll be thrown out on the spot.”
When the heiress of the highest pedigree in attendance spoke, not one person dared to utter another word.
No one in finance dared to offend Zhu Nongzhang, who was already one of the most influential people in the circle.
Madame Zhu happened to pass by, and when everyone saw her appearing behind Zhu Nongzhang, they rose to greet her, “Grandma Zhu.”
“Hello, Grandma Zhu.”
The atmosphere relaxed for a moment.
Madame Zhu smiled and turned to Zhu Nongzhang, “I haven’t seen so many of the younger generation gathered for a long time. Call Yuwan and Yangzhi over sometime.”
Everyone bowed their heads, murmuring amongst themselves.
The presence of an elder in support meant that the matter had already been decided by the older generation.
It was all settled long ago.
Zhu Qing’an, with her pregnant belly, reminded her, “Grandma, Yuwan and Yangzhi are both busy with the bank acquisition. If that Denny hadn’t messed things up, they wouldn’t be so busy now.”
Madame Zhu merely smiled and waved her hand at the youngsters, “Go on, have fun.”
The subject of the conversation, one sat at the edge of the bed, absent-mindedly adjusting her dress straps.
The other headed to the study, took out a small teddy bear glass bottle, and tossed in a glass bead.
There were already three glass bottles; two were full, and one was only half full.
Wen Yangzhi emerged from the study, and Yun Yuwan ran over to him, clinging on, “Come with me to pick out clothes; the brand sent over the new collection for the season.”
Wen Yangzhi hummed in agreement, his voice husky after finishing his work.
When Wen Wei came downstairs, he could only hear Yun Yuwan and Wen Yangzhi arguing.
Yun Yuwan, “I don’t want it.”
Wen Yangzhi, without changing his expression, “Why not?”
“This is ugly.”
“Is it ugly? Wear it for me to see.”
Yun Yuwan, “It’s too revealing.”
Wen Wei looked at his son, scheming away, and felt a flush of embarrassment for a moment.
“Lunch is ready, Yuwan. We have your favorite asparagus today.”
That was something she used to hear often as a child. Yun Yuwan turned around abruptly and instinctively said, “Daddy.”
Wen Wei’s hand, holding a phone, stiffened for a moment.
Wen Yangzhi said calmly, “Dad.”
Wen Wei snapped back to reality, standing still as he softly added, “And your favorite orchid clams.”
Wen Yangzhi calmly replied, “Got it.”
Realizing she had inadvertently called out “Daddy,” Yun Yuwan was glad that Wen Yangzhi followed suit, sparing her the embarrassment.
Her father also liked to make asparagus for her.
Wen Yangzhi got up, patted Yun Yuwan’s shoulder, and the two passed Wen Wei on their way to the dining room.
Wen Wei, however, felt a pang of envy.
It had been many years since he’d heard Hong Sheng call him “Dad.”
Though Hong Sheng was his son.
But that “Dad” wasn’t because Yun Yuwan followed Wen Yangzhi; it was Wen Yangzhi following Yun Yuwan’s lead.
Wen Wei couldn’t help but lower his head,
Feeling a surge of tears well up in his eyes.
A chance at reconciliation was a relief; he had thought he would never have the opportunity in his lifetime.
