A Crazy Love Proposal -
Chapter 187 - 187 102 I Want to See You
Chapter 187: Chapter 102 I Want to See You Chapter 187: Chapter 102 I Want to See You Not wanting to dwell on it, Zhu Yaoqing asked another question, “What is your mother’s name?”
Yun Yuwan softly recited, “Lou Wanyi.”
Unexpectedly, Old Mrs. Zhu’s expression slightly solidified, “Your mother’s name is Lou Wanyi?”
“Yes,” Yun Yuwan was somewhat puzzled by Zhu Yaoqing’s reaction.
The other immediately pressed on, “Is it the ‘Wan’ from graceful, the ‘Yi’ from demeanor, the one who works for the government?”
Yun Yuwan was even more surprised, “Yes, do you know my mother?”
“A high nose bridge, long eyes, very efficient in her work?” Zhu Yaoqing was urgently seeking answers.
Although she didn’t understand why the other person was reacting this way, Yun Yuwan nodded lightly, “My mother is indeed like that.”
Zhu Yaoqing’s gaze slowly swept over Yun Yuwan’s face before she realized why she felt such a sense of familiarity with this junior she had met for the first time:
“So you are the daughter of Officer Lou. No wonder.”
Old Mrs. Zhu lowered her head to suppress the emotions she couldn’t hold back, and after a moment, she began to narrate:
“Your mother and I were old acquaintances. The Zhu Family had contracted a government project, and it accidentally caught fire, everything gone in flames, and we applied for government aid—a considerable sum of money. Some people smeared my name, claiming I staged everything to embezzle funds, but it was your mother who personally went to the construction site to find the evidence that exonerated the Zhu Family. Without her, the Zhu Family would have surely faced imprisonment. But when the Zhu Family wanted to thank your mother, she always refused to see us. Even when she saw me, she would avoid me at all costs. She wouldn’t accept gifts, nor would she speak a word to the Zhu Family. She maintained her integrity until her passing.”
Yun Yuwan hadn’t expected such a connection and was momentarily unable to collect her thoughts.
“I never got the chance to thank your mother in person,” Zhu Yaoqing said, tightly holding her hand. The regret of the past seemed to find its resolution at this moment.
The daughter of Officer Lou no longer had to avoid the Zhu Family.
“If there’s anything in the future, come to Grandma,” she said.
No wonder the child was raised in such a manner. If it had been said to be Zhao Qin’s doing, she would have found it strange, but coming from Officer Lou’s daughter, it was perfectly logical.
Officer Lou was upright in character, and his daughter was bound to be outstanding.
She was one of the few younger generations Old Mrs. Zhu truly respected in her life.
Seeing the old woman distressed, Yun Yuwan tried to comfort her, despite feeling uncomfortable herself, “Grandma… all that is in the past now.”
Old Mrs. Zhu seemed to recall some sorrowful past events, her emotions fluctuating, “Let Azou take you back first. Take care, and come to the Zhu Family often.”
The middle-aged woman immediately wrapped up the box of buttons, “Miss Yuwan, please come with me.”
Yun Yuwan looked back at Zhu Yaoqing.
Zhu Yaoqing’s eyes were slightly red, gently waving her off, “Go ahead.”
The middle-aged woman escorted Yun Yuwan out, followed by others carrying big and small packages.
Passing through the front hall corridor, someone reminded Zhao Qin, “Sister Qin, look, Yuwan is coming out.”
As Zhao Qin turned around, she saw a group of people carrying things following behind Yun Yuwan.
And the ladies around Zhao Qin exclaimed, “My goodness, the old lady is giving her family treasures to Yuwan. I’ve never seen the old lady like anyone so much.”
“If only it were my daughter. It’s a pity that it’s a child taught by Sister Qin to be so likable.”
As Yun Yuwan passed by Zhao Qin, Zhao Qin called out to her.
Yun Yuwan stopped, and Zhao Qin hesitated, “Did Grandma Zhu give you all these things?”
The middle-aged woman behind Yun Yuwan tried to spare her any awkwardness, smiling,
“Mrs. Wen, the old lady felt a strong connection with Miss Yuwan upon their first meeting. These are all heartfelt gifts from the old lady; they cannot be refused. Moreover, she instructed us to personally see Miss Yuwan back home. We might need to leave first.”
The ladies nearby were even more astonished, their looks falling on Zhao Qin’s face.
Their eyes shone with envy.
The old lady personally sent someone to take her back home—she must like her very much.
Zhao Qin was also shocked, moving a bit slowly, “Then please take care of her.”
Worried Zhao Qin might be upset, Yun Yuwan bade farewell in a soft and gentle voice, “Then I will be leaving now.”
However, for the first time, Zhao Qin looked at her with an extremely gentle gaze, “Alright, send me a message when you get home.”
Yun Yuwan was a bit taken aback but didn’t show it, just nodded slightly.
After she left, the ladies by Zhao Qin’s side were both impressed and envious, complimenting her in Zhao Qin’s ear.
Zhao Qin held the floral materials, somewhat distracted, answering absently, “Not at all, not at all.”
Zhu Nongzhang never thought his grandmother would be so favorable towards Yun Yuwan. While cutting flowers, he accidentally cut his hand.
Why her?
And as Yun Yuwan left through the front door, the middle-aged woman reminded the gatekeeper to recognize her, saying Yun Miss could be allowed through directly from now on.
The gatekeeper’s gaze drifted to Yun Yuwan’s face, and he quickly agreed.
A Rolls-Royce with a hand-painted fine gold waistline stopped in front of Yun Yuwan.
On the way back, Yun Yuwan couldn’t settle her thoughts for a long time.
Until Zhao Qin returned and gently knocked on her door, speaking to her:
“Your brother just called and told me to ask you to go to Lujiazui, he has something to talk to you about. Auntie will have the driver take you there.”
Yun Yuwan was jolted from her reverie, “Okay, I’ll come right away.”
Through the door, Zhao Qin still cautioned her, “Yuwan, remember to speak nicely, don’t make your brother angry.”
Fearing the two might clash.
After a moment of silence, Yun Yuwan replied, “…Okay.”
Yun Yuwan was driven to Lujiazui, stopped in front of the villa, and ran inside.
Wen Yangzhi was eating in the dining room. Yun Yuwan sat down next to him, leaning on his shoulder:
“When did you get back?”
Wen Yangzhi, picking up food with his chopsticks, his clearly-defined wrist adorned with an elegant tourbillon watch, spoke in an indifferent tone:
“Just a moment ago.”
Yun Yuwan couldn’t follow his thought process, “Why did you call Auntie to have me come over?”
His other hand gently rested on her head, caressing her thick black hair downwards. The wide palm was warmly stroking her, filled with tender feelings for the one he touched:
“I want to see you.”
Though he looked distant, his words betrayed a warmth, and Yun Yuwan silently rejoiced. Still, she pouted like a petulant child, “Why didn’t you just call me directly?”
Finally, he relented and glanced at her, albeit fleetingly,
“I didn’t want to disturb you.”
Yun Yuwan felt a cheesy shiver travel down her spine.
His speech was light, like a heron’s feet skimming the surface of the water and causing ripples:
“Did you have fun today?”
Yun Yuwan chose to share the joys, not the woes: “I did, a lot of people added me on WeChat. I haven’t even accepted them all yet. Plus, Granny Zhu gave me a set of buttons, and she was an old acquaintance of my mother.”
He hummed faintly, “You shouldn’t be afraid of social interactions now, make more friends while you’re in the country.”
Unaware of the significance of his words, she embraced him from the side, inhaling the air perfumed with his scent. The faint cool fragrance was reassuring:
“Wen Yangzhi, I miss you so much.”
He responded with his usual indifference, “Hmm.”
She quietly clung to him, “I really want to be with you.”
He let her hold him but said nothing, unlike his usual self who would wrap his arms around her in return.
Yun Yuwan hugged him and kissed his sharp and lean cheek:
“Why are you ignoring me?”
Wen Yangzhi simply looked toward a servant, signaling for them to come over from afar.
After the servant approached, Wen Yangzhi spoke softly, “Get her a bowl.”
The servant prepared a bowl of rice and brought it over.
Yun Yuwan shared with the intent of including him, “Do you know how I and Granny Zhu hit it off?”
He calmly replied, “A button.”
Yun Yuwan was shocked, “How did you know?!”
The word sure got around fast.
Finally, his gaze met hers, his deep eyes like dark clouds, “The last time your button popped, it ended up on the vase in my room. It was a bronze violet stamp button.”
Yun Yuwan was astounded, “You actually noticed that the button was special.”
And under such ludicrous circumstances, no less.
In his mind, it wasn’t her sitting on his bed or removing her pants, but that this button was interesting.
Yun Yuwan: “…?”
Was she really that unattractive?
“By the way,” his well-defined Adam’s apple moved slightly, though his demeanor remained unchanged.
She suddenly realized something, “Do you also know that Granny Zhu doesn’t have anyone who relates to her button?”
He said nothing more than necessary, in the most indifferent manner possible, “Yes.”
Yun Yuwan finally understood why he had wanted her to attend this gathering.
So, Wen Yangzhi had long figured out that something was peculiar about the old lady’s buttons, but kept silent.
He saw that her button was extraordinary but didn’t mention it.
He simply wanted her to attend the gathering.
She had thought Wen Yangzhi’s arrangements were just for Manon to come over.
Her heart was full of astonishment, “No wonder you wanted me to go to the Zhu Family gathering…”
Wen Yangzhi took the bowl of rice from the servant, instinctively saying, “Thank you.”
The servant retreated.
Wen Yangzhi served her food, “Instead of staying out of things, it’s better to find you a backer.”
His tone was casual and indifferent as if it wasn’t a big deal.
Yun Yuwan’s hand, poised to pick up her chopsticks, froze mid-air.
She suddenly grasped his intention.
He had considered her to such an extent, such a small matter that she never complained about being ostracized, he had taken into account.
Wen Yangzhi’s love was like a long-term bond with assured returns.
A sudden twinge of emotion hit Yun Yuwan at the base of her nose. Looking at his calm visage, she suddenly leaned into his embrace, gripping the fabric at his waist, “It’s really good to have you.”
He looked down at her with his thick lashes, correcting her, “With or without me, you should be fine.”
She was so touched she felt her eyes warm up, “Aren’t you usually tough-talking? Why have you been less so lately?”
He lifted his brows slightly, “In time, you’ll know why.”
Yun Yuwan hastily covered her ears as a precaution, feeling certain he was about to say something strange again.
Wen Yangzhi let out a light chuckle, “You dare to do things in the evening, yet you’re afraid to hear them.”
With her ears covered and nestled in his embrace, she looked up at him, “I don’t want to talk to you, your words are too suggestive.”
Wen Yangzhi took a pair of clean chopsticks and handed them to her, supporting her shoulders and straightening her up to eat, “Don’t go back later.”
Yun Yuwan held the chopsticks, but worried, “If I don’t go back, what if the nanny asks about it?”
“I’ll tell her I took you to a dinner banquet,” Wen Yangzhi had already thought of an excuse.
She took him at his word, “What dinner?”
Wen Yangzhi looked at her meaningfully but continued to tease her lightly,
“Depends on what dinner you’d like to go to.”
Yun Yuwan was surprised, “I can choose any I want to attend?”
He found her adorable, withdrew his gaze, and chuckled softly.
