Chapter 179: Chapter 98 So You’re Called Jiang Yingyu Part 2 Chapter 179: Chapter 98 So You’re Called Jiang Yingyu Part 2 Yang Ni was also unphased, “I’ve wanted to meet Young Master Xiaojiang for some time now, I heard the law firm recently expanded to New York.”

Jiang Yingyu reciprocated the conversation, still smiling, “New York was always in the plans, this one is the sixteenth branch there.”

The veins on Jiang Yingyu’s hands were bulging, ferociously coiling on the back of his cold, white, elegant hand.

Yang Ni was not to be outdone, knowing the other’s intentions towards Yuwan the moment he applied force during the handshake.

“Wishing you a booming business, with a successor like Young Master Xiaojiang, the Jiang Family’s future is bound to flourish.”

Yuwan sniffed the Jeanne Moreau white rose Jiang Yingyu handed to her, inhaling the fresh scent that seemed to have been just cut from the branch, and when she looked up, the two friendly men were still shaking hands.

She inexplicably felt a bit awkward, Why keep shaking hands for so long?

She tested the waters, “Why don’t you two find a seat first? It seems about time.”

To her surprise, neither man let go.

Yuwan: “?”

Yuwan had just transferred the bracelet in her palm to take a closer look.

Immediately, Yang Ni released his grip, his face serene yet bearing that institutionally harmonized smile:

“Right, let’s find a place to sit.”

Her actions paused, and though she felt something was off, she agreed, “Right.”

Standing there seemed so odd.

Jiang Yingyu also released his grip, but the next moment he smiled and said to the person next to Yuwan, “Could you move over to that seat? I think there’s a free spot over there.”

The person had sat nearby only to gossip about the rumor that Jiang Yingyu disapproved of Yuwan, but they were so shocked that they nearly let their wine spill from the corner of their mouth.

Who exactly was saying Jiang Yingyu looked down on Yuwan?

The tension with Yang Ni felt explosive enough to blow the Zhu Family’s roof off.

When others misled her and Nongzhang went along with it, she took it for truth.

She quickly made room, “Of course, this spot is yours if you like.”

Jiang Yingyu smiled, “Thank you.”

Thus, under everyone’s watchful eyes and with Yang Ni glaring fiercely, Jiang Yingyu took the seat next to Yuwan.

He also passed her a matching flower as if guessing she might need it.

Yuwan glanced at Yang Ni’s expression out of the corner of her eye and sheepishly accepted, “Thank you.”

Yang Ni and Jiang Yingyu’s movements were subtle, but given that Yang Ni was eye-catching and Jiang Yingyu was often the center of attention, just now someone had mentioned Jiang Yingyu didn’t think highly of Yuwan and that’s why he skipped the matchmaking.

At this moment, almost everyone looked their way and whispered among themselves, but Yuwan couldn’t make out what was being said.

Zhao Qin herself was surprised when she glanced over, not expecting Jiang Yingyu to have appeared so suddenly.

A vein was pulsing at Yang Ni’s temple as he returned to his original seat.

Jiang Yingyu and Yang Ni, one sat beside Yuwan, the other sat across from her.

Yuwan felt the pressure of not just four sets of eyes on her, but many more.

She picked up the bracelet, about to speak with Jiang Yingyu.

But then Yang Ni spoke up, “Speaking of flowers, I brought a gift for you from overseas. It’s that rose that you always said you wanted, which can thrive under strong light.”

Yuwan looked up in surprise, “Really?”

Yang Ni’s voice was clear and gentle, with a discernible smile in his crane-like eyes:

“Of course, I have a friend working at a botanic research station in the UK, and he managed to get in touch with an organization that is cultivating this type of rose, securing the first successful samples.”

Yuwan was so surprised, she could hardly believe it: “There really is such a rose?”

Jiang Yingyu saw the Jeanne Moreau white rose he had given to Yuwan, lying beside her.

He felt that he shouldn’t have given her a white rose available elsewhere.

And in Yang Ni’s expressive eyes: “Yes, it does exist in this world, not merely a figment of our imaginations.”

Yang Ni had heard her once say about her favorite flower.

Yuwan had mentioned her fondness for roses because of their variety, abundant exquisiteness, never failing to impress.

But roses weren’t known to withstand high temperatures, and she also longed for a flower that she could admire under the fierce sun.

Yuwan was curious whether there could be a plant that was as tender and layered as an ordinary rose yet could withstand scorching heat and not attract insects.

But she described her search as fruitless; finding such a plant was about as likely as wishful thinking leading to blooming and fruition.

Yang Ni sent a message on his phone to someone, and soon a person came in with a small potted plant, inside which was a bare flower stalk.

Yuwan was curious, “Is this that rose?”

Yang Ni, while casting a glance at Jiang Yingyu, softly explained, “Yes, it’s called Helios because it can endure sustained high temperatures above forty degrees Celsius, hence named after the Sun God in Ancient Greek mythology.”

His gaze lingered on Yuwan, implying yet tender, “Wishing alone isn’t hopeless for blooming and bearing fruit; it has appeared, and soon, it will have buds.”

His eyes were dark and bright, like a comet.

Meanwhile, Jiang Yingyu heard those clearly directional remarks, which he didn’t understand.

And yet, they seemed to be something she had been longing for; he didn’t want to break her anticipation.

For a moment, he was silent, not wanting to rush in and disturb.

Yuwan knew what Yang Ni meant, and she laughed awkwardly, “You don’t have to give it to me, I’ve hardly been keeping plants at home lately; you might as well keep it for yourself to plant.”

Jiang Yingyu’s eyes, which had been tranquil moments ago, suddenly cleared the mist and brightened again.

In the presence of his rival, Yang Ni faced rejection, yet he didn’t rush to care about what the other man thought and lowered his stance:

“This is the plant you’ve been looking for; you don’t need to feel burdened. I just wanted to find it to make you happy, that’s all.”

Yuwan was genuinely embarrassed and had to refuse Yang Ni in front of her friend,

“Yang Ni, this gift is too thoughtful. Honestly, such a precious gift should be kept by you. Placed in my hands, the rose might not realize its greatest value.”
