A Crazy Love Proposal
Chapter 103 - 103 69 Catching up

Chapter 103: Chapter 69 Catching up Chapter 103: Chapter 69 Catching up Zhou Fei held her cellphone, nervously and excitedly glancing at the email on the screen:

“I think their proposal is good. Although the cooperation amount has been reduced from ten billion to seven billion, this enterprise is a century-old business. We should leave some room for future collaborations instead of rushing this one.”

After listening, Wen Yangzhi agreed without changing his expression, “Then let’s do as you say.”

Zhou Fei was stunned by the favor, momentarily unable to react.

His tone was the same as usual when he spoke, but the significance of his words was far from ordinary.

She actually did not have the authority to handle affairs of this level, yet he directly said to go along with her thoughts.

Her thoughts.

Wen Yangzhi sat next to the screen, the colorful lights from the outside shining through the openwork ‘flowing cloud’ screen, casting dazzling reflections in his eyes as he gazed at her, then reminded her, “There will be the wife of Chen Shi Real Estate’s director at this banquet.”

Being smart, Zhou Fei instantly understood, “I’ll take the initiative to socialize with Mrs. Chen later.”

She probed, “Have you decided not to collaborate with Licheng Real Estate and choose Chen Shi Real Estate instead?”

Wen Yangzhi gently placed the shallow white porcelain teacup he held down, not answering directly, but instructing her on the follow-up, “During the Wen Family banquet, try to converse more with the executives from Chen Shi Real Estate.”

Affection nearly spilled from Zhou Fei’s eyes, which she had to strive to contain, meeting his indifferent gaze with a contented agreement, “Okay.”

Although she had long known that she would be Wen Yangzhi’s companion at the Wen family banquet, the thought that he often wanted her by his side, almost by default, as the person accompanying him, stirred her emotions.

Normally, the woman who consistently accompanies someone to every event is his wife.

This time, many people had already speculated about her relationship with Wen Yangzhi.

Because Wen Yangzhi had never before had a female companion.

Meanwhile, in the garden where guests mingled, Jiang Jianqing saw Yun Yuwan as soon as he stepped out.

It was only upon a closer look that he realized the person next to her was even his brother.

Yingyu knew to greet them, but it would be awkward for him not to do the same.

Yet as soon as Jiang Jianqing approached Yun Yuwan, he saw the Maple Leaf Ring on her finger.

Jiang Jianqing finally understood.

Wen Yangzhi, that guy, had given it to his sister because she liked it.

No wonder it was an aggressive acquisition.

With a champagne glass in hand, Jiang Jianqing admired the ring on her finger, “The ring suits you. No wonder Yangzhi intercepted it from me.”

Yun Yuwan was a bit stunned, “What do you mean ‘intercepted’?”

Jiang Yingyu stopped in his tracks.

Jiang Jianqing laughed openly, “It’s a pair of antique rings, auctioned from the UK royal collection. I asked Yangzhi to pick it up from the auction house. But it seems, on your hand, it looks better than in my collection—”

Suddenly, Jiang Yingyu interrupted him, “Bro, Millie and I would like some whisky. Could you get us a bottle?”

Although surprised that his brother would interrupt him, Jiang Jianqing still smiled, “Which whisky would you like?”

Without a change in demeanor, Jiang Yingyu stepped in front of Yun Yuwan, hiding her and her crestfallen eyes, “Glenfiddich 12-year-old.”

“I’ll go find some,” said Jiang Jianqing, not thinking much about it, even turning slightly to look at Yun Yuwan behind Jiang Yingyu, amiably adding, “Wait for me.”

Yun Yuwan clenched her fist lightly, covering her ring.

She didn’t even wait for Jiang Jianqing to leave before turning to walk towards a less crowded area, with Jiang Yingyu hurrying to catch up.

Yun Yuwan kept walking to a secluded corner, sitting down on a wicker chair under an osmanthus tree.

Feeling a bit embarrassed knowing Jiang Yingyu had followed her, she looked down at the ring on her hand and feigned lighthearted annoyance, “So it wasn’t specially customized for me after all. He never mentioned it; it was my misunderstanding.”

She looked up, forcing a cheerful smile at him.

In the daylight, her features seemed gentle.

But at night, her not particularly high nose appeared sharp, a straight line that cut through the dim light decisively, her chin tapered and refined, combined with her ethereal demeanor, she had the serene and cool presence of dew on an orchid.

Now she smiled at him in such a way, it felt as if she didn’t mind and was indifferent.

It was as though she hoped to be cared for by others but had been disappointed so many times that she had grown accustomed to it.

So it didn’t matter that the ring wasn’t customized for her; she knew she wasn’t loved deeply.

Jiang Yingyu stood in front of her, his impression of her exactly the same as when he had visited her villa for dinner.

There was a Maple tree in her yard, carefully tended to, almost meticulously so. The fence was absurdly tidy, treating the tree almost like a person. Although he hadn’t met her that day, he had asked her housekeeper whether the tree was important.
