Chapter 1631: Chapter 1089: King of Pain

Within the dark crypt, deep underground, a massive figure was slowly walking through the tunnel.

It was an incredibly grotesque Demon, its lower half resembling a fat maggot with multiple pairs of insect-like limbs incessantly writhing on the ground. Its upper body exuded an aura of decay and stench, with sharp bone spikes protruding from its body, swaying with the Demon’s movements.

This was Duriel, the Pain Lord, one of the four Great Demons.

But unlike other Great Demons, Duriel didn’t engage with Humans; for him, there was a more important task.

Moving through the cavern, Duriel arrived in a massive underground chamber, where at its center lay a prisoner. It was a tall warrior clad in Armor, but the light-like wings emerging from his back revealed that this prisoner was not human.

He was an Angel.

"Hello, old chum, it’s torture time......"

Gazing at the prisoner before him, Duriel let out a "hehe" laugh, wriggling his body forward to stand in front of the Angel. He scrutinized him meticulously—of course, there was no face beneath the shadowed hood, and thus no expression. But Duriel was indifferent; he merely raised his right hand, extending the bone spikes, stabbing forward at the warrior in front.

"Ugh———!"

With Duriel’s movement, the Angel let out a muffled groan. Just hearing his pain-filled voice made Duriel tremble with excitement. As the Pain Lord, Duriel’s favorite pastime was inflicting pain, whether on others or himself. To him, any kind of suffering was the ultimate enjoyment and satisfaction.

"Why, haven’t you given up yet? Angel? What are you waiting for? No one will come to save you, and sooner or later the Human World will become part of Hell...... Those fragile Humans don’t stand a chance against us, and your companions have long abandoned you, so what are you still holding on to?"

"Shut... your damn mouth... Demon!"

The Angel struggled, loudly roaring in anger.

"You’ll never... trick me...! I will never succumb to you!"

"It seems we have plenty of time to enjoy ourselves here...... Hahaha......"

As he spoke, Duriel opened his mouth, letting his long tongue extend out, licking the Angel’s pure white Armor. The holy aura erupted instantly, causing a burning sensation on Duriel’s tongue. Yet, such pain meant nothing to the Pain Lord. He let out a lewd laugh and began to slowly lick the Angel’s body. The foul, evil mucus dripped down, leaving corrosive marks on the Angel’s Battle Armor.

"No, let me go, let me go! You damn Demon!"

For the Angel, being touched by a Demon was already considered desecration. Let alone the opponent enjoying himself, toying with him like a delicacy. It was an intolerable humiliation. He shouted angrily, trembling and struggling to resist.

"Hahaha, just like that, that’s the way!"

The Angel’s resistance only excited Duriel more. He raised his arms, watching the bound Angel before him, eyes gleaming with excitement and pleasure.

"Keep struggling, tremble, suffer! We have all the time in the world for this entanglement! I wonder, when I have desecrated every inch of your body, how long will your Soul persist in the light? Hahaha, the struggle and defiance of an Angel are always so pleasing! Come, let us understand each other more deeply; one day you will realize the essence of suffering, and then......"

Speaking, Duriel raised his hand, his sharp claws gently stroking the Angel’s hood as if caressing a lover, while the latter turned away in disgust, trying to evade. Seeing the Angel’s reaction, Duriel merely sneered, then opened his mouth again, extending his tongue to lick the Angel’s Armor, slowly sliding down.

By now, the Angel seemed to realize that no matter what he did, it only served to excite the Demon more, so he closed his mouth and ceased speaking. Yet, even so, his body continued to tremble slightly—as an envoy of The Supreme Heavens, he never thought he would endure such humiliation!

However, at this moment, the cavern suddenly started to tremble, causing the Angel to look up in surprise, as Duriel also glanced around in confusion, unsure of what was happening.

But it was only a moment.

"Boom!!!!!"

The next instant, the heavy ceiling was suddenly blown open by an enormous explosion. Fiery, explosive air currents roared inside, engulfing both the Angel and Duriel.

"What, what is this!?"

Even this level of fire couldn’t kill a Great Demon. At this moment, Duriel hurriedly turned around, trying to figure out what had happened.

Then, a voice suddenly echoed.

"Ah, found you."

Accompanied by this voice, Duanmu Huai descended from the sky, wielding the Thunder Warhammer, striking down directly. Confronted by the sudden attack, Duriel only had time to raise his hands. The next moment, Duanmu Huai swung his War Hammer with force, slamming onto Duriel’s hands. Instantly, Duriel’s obese, repulsive body exploded like a rotten tomato, splattering into mush.

"Bang!!!"

With just one blow, the Pain Lord Duriel was thoroughly killed, and Duanmu Huai landed heavily on the ground, causing the entire floor to collapse beneath him. Under his feet lay the remains of Duriel, already turned to mush, along with a spread of completely useless junk.

"Whew...... Done, indeed blasting first when in doubt is correct."

Feeling Duriel’s Soul thoroughly obliterated, Duanmu Huai stood up, satisfied, hefting his War Hammer. He had never intended to search any ancient tombs; it was all a waste of time, so Duanmu Huai detonated a Thermite Bomb, blowing up all seven tombs—knowing that a being like a Great Demon wouldn’t be taken down by a Thermite Bomb, he just needed to find the right Subspace wave, and then strike.

No worries, it’s done, finish up then five-star review, and onto the next one......

Just as Duanmu Huai stretched lazily, ready to leave, a voice suddenly came from behind him.

"Please wait a moment!"

"Hmm?"

Hearing the voice, Duanmu Huai turned around, discovering not far away a... what the heck?

An Angel?

Gazing at the white band of light on the figure’s back, Duanmu Huai twitched an eyelid.

Honestly, he had never seen Angel wings like these before.

"Who are you?"

Duanmu Huai stepped forward, observing the faceless darkskin in front of him—a void beneath the hood, not even a glimpse of a face. A pure energy being? Or a spirit possession? It seemed somewhat similar to his own Night Guard.

"I am Archangel Tyrael. I came here to stop Diablo from freeing his brother Bhaal, but I failed..."

"I can see that."

Duanmu Huai nodded, and hearing his indifferent response, the archangel was rendered speechless—aren’t ordinary people supposed to be respectful upon seeing an angel? Why does this mortal feel so different?

Is he really just a mortal?

Looking at Duriel, who was now completely unrecognizable under Duanmu Huai’s feet, the angel drew a sharp breath. Even he couldn’t have easily taken down the Lord of Pain so effortlessly...

"So what’s the matter?"

Duanmu Huai wasn’t interested in this angel. He thought of him as just a weakling not worth bothering with.

"Well, anyway, thank you for saving me, mortal..."

The angel coughed, feeling that regardless of the other’s attitude, he had to show respect first.

"I suppose you’ve already learned that the three great demon gods have been unsealed..."

"I know, otherwise why would I be here? Can you get to the point?"

Listening to Deckard Cain’s stories was enough; did he really have to hear this angel’s tales too? Seriously?

"......"

Facing Duanmu Huai’s blunt retort, the angel paused for a moment.

"In short, we must stop their conspiracy!"

"Oh? Are you going to help?"

"No."

Upon hearing Duanmu Huai’s question, the angel shook his head.

"I’m already shattered, and the energy binding me to this world is rapidly dissipating. I’m afraid I don’t have much time... Hey, wait a minute!"

Seeing Duanmu Huai turn to leave, the angel quickly called out to him.

"Is there anything else? Do you know where the three great demon gods are?"

"Of course, I know!"

Hearing Duanmu Huai’s inquiry, the angel nodded.

"You must cross the ocean to reach the capital of the Eastern Empire, Kurast. The Zakarum Temple there is where the Lord of Hatred, Mephisto, is sealed! Bhaal and Diablo have gone there!"

"Alright, thanks for the information. I’m off then."

"Wait, wait, wait!"

Seeing Duanmu Huai about to leave again, the angel raised his hand hurriedly.

"As a token of gratitude, I can open a teleportation portal to Lut Gholein for you. You can return there through this portal..."

"A teleportation portal..."

Hearing the angel’s words, Duanmu Huai thought for a moment.

"Can you open one to Caldeum instead?"

"......Huh?"

The angel was taken aback by Duanmu Huai’s request.

"Caldeum?"

"That’s right. According to the information I have, there’s another demon causing trouble in Caldeum. If you can open a portal there, that would be great."

"......Alright, I understand."

Hearing Duanmu Huai’s answer, the angel nodded and then waved his hand to open the portal.

"Go ahead, adventurer, we must..."

However, before the angel could finish his sentence, he saw Duanmu Huai turn around and walk straight through the portal, not even acknowledging him.

"..............."

At that moment, the angel felt as if his fragile heart was about to shatter.

At least let me finish my lines...
