Chapter 1490: Chapter 1006: Ranking Game_3
Like the footsteps of a Demon.
Although he himself was a Demon, at this moment, deep within Lessa’s heart, such a thought arose. That unparalleled fear, the rampant destruction, the suffocating killing intent—like the very embodiment of the word "Demon" itself... He slowly turned his head, only to see the gray haze of dust gradually dispersing, and from within emerged a Steel Warrior clad in pitch-black armor, with eyes emitting a chilling red glow.
"So, it’s you?"
Looking at the Steel Warrior before him, Lessa sneered coldly.
"Even though Liliath hasn’t gathered enough pieces, she still deliberately proposed a ranking game. At that moment, I had suspected she might have some hidden trump card. But I never expected her trump card to be something like this... Hmph, you think this is enough to stop the marriage contract between us? Who are you? Why are you helping Liliath? Answer me!"
"............"
The Steel Warrior remained silent, his blood-red gaze from within the helmet falling directly on Lessa.
"I can clearly sense it—you’re no more than a temporary contract piece!"
Glaring at the Steel Warrior before him, Lessa continued speaking. He didn’t know why, but the oppressive aura brought forth by this opponent made him feel that if he didn’t say something, he would be completely overwhelmed!
"You’re Liliath’s trump card? What did Liliath give you? Money? Women? Status? Who gave you the courage to stand in my way? Do you have any idea who I am? I am Lessa of the Phoenix Family!"
"............"
The Steel Warrior did not respond, but silently tightened his grip on the War Hammer in his hand.
"I admit, you have some skill, but do you really think you can defeat me?!"
Neither out of anger nor fear, Lessa roared loudly. He clenched his fists as scorching flames erupted from his body, transforming into fiery wings. Everything around him began to melt in the searing heat—bricks and stones included.
"I’ll see what you’re capable of! To dare attack someone from the lineage of Firebirds, Phoenixes, and Undead Birds! Prepare yourself to endure the endless karmic flames that will burn you to ashes!"
With Lessa’s furious shouts, the surroundings turned into a sea of fire, and he leapt forward, wrapped in flames, charging toward the Steel Warrior! The surging flames on his body burned brighter and hotter, enveloping him entirely. In a matter of moments, he became a Flame Giant and swung his fist—aimed directly at the Steel Warrior!
At this moment, Lessa unleashed all his power. As a Phoenix of the Undead Birds lineage, he should have no reason to fear death. But when the Steel Warrior appeared before him, for the first time, he felt an unmistakable, indescribable, unspeakable fear of death.
It was as if standing before him was not a man but Death and Destruction incarnate. Not even himself, not even a Phoenix of the Undead Birds lineage, was an exception!
"Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!"
Lessa unleashed every ounce of his strength and lunged at the Steel Warrior, attempting to completely melt him. Yet, as he approached the Steel Warrior, he saw with his own eyes that the Steel Warrior remained utterly unfazed by flames that should have been capable of incinerating and devouring everything in the world.
He didn’t evade or retreat; he simply stood there, letting the surging flames engulf him like tidal waves.
Then, the Steel Warrior raised the War Hammer high, and swung it forward.
"———————————Boom!!!"
Lessa felt as if his body had been struck by a falling meteor. He could vividly feel a powerful impact surge directly into his body, scattering the flames within him and even forcing the blood in his veins to spill out through his pores.
For a brief moment, Lessa’s mind went blank. When he regained consciousness, he found himself lying in a pile of rubble, his body limp and utterly devoid of strength.
"I... Who am I exactly...?"
Struggling to lift his head, Lessa tried to look around, only to see that the high-end suit he had been wearing was now drenched in blood, reduced to a blinding shade of crimson. In front of him stretched a massive chasm, one that extended all the way to the horizon. At the bottom of this chasm, Lessa lay, looking more like a corpse.
Seeing this scene, Lessa was completely dumbfounded.
What on earth had just happened?
