Chapter 1479: Chapter 1000 Too Weak!

Soon, it was afternoon and school was out. Duanmu Huai, at Tasuku’s invitation, arrived at the music classroom.

"Ah, Teacher Long!"

"Hello, Teacher!"

As soon as Tasuku opened the door and walked in, greetings echoed inside the room. Hearing this, Duanmu Huai curled his lips and followed Tasuku inside.

"........."

The originally noisy music classroom instantly fell silent.

The students stared at Duanmu Huai as he entered the room, not daring to breathe, and no one dared to ask why a PE teacher like Duanmu Huai was there. But soon, Tasuku provided the answer.

"As you all might know, this is Teacher Duanmu. In fact, I invited him to be our Wind Band Club’s assistant advisor... Of course, Teacher Duanmu won’t be giving you any pointers on your music techniques, he will just be observing. So you don’t need to worry, just act as you normally would."

"............"

"Do you understand?"

"Yes..."

Everyone quietly glanced at Duanmu Huai and replied in a low voice. Upon hearing their response, Tasuku raised his head.

"That was too soft, let’s try again."

"Yes!"

"Very good."

Tasuku nodded, then picked up the baton.

"Alright then... once you’re ready, let’s begin."

"..............."

No one spoke; everyone quietly prepared their instruments and opened their sheet music. Duanmu Huai leaned against a corner, watching the members from the diagonal back. Seeing everyone ready, Tasuku nodded and raised his baton.

"One, two, three..."

"Toot...!"

However, just as Tasuku’s baton came down, a trumpet blared with an off-pitch note. Everyone turned to see a girl bowing her head in embarrassment, her face red.

"So, sorry, that was my mistake!"

"No problem, let’s try again."

Tasuku was quite patient, smiling slightly as he raised his baton again.

"One, two, three..."

Under Tasuku’s direction, the Wind Band Club began playing. However, let’s say... although Duanmu Huai didn’t understand music, he could tell whether a piece sounded good or not. From the start of the performance, they were either out of tune or missing beats, even a music layman like Duanmu Huai could tell this wasn’t normal.

But Tasuku seemed unfazed, regardless of how chaotic the performance was. He continued his conducting as if nothing was wrong. Duanmu Huai noticed that many students wanted to stop, but with Tasuku not pausing his baton, they reluctantly continued.

Finally, the performance ended... Duanmu Huai could finally let out a sigh.

Listening to such music could be considered a form of torture.

No one spoke afterward, and Tasuku still smiled as he watched them.

"What’s going on? Didn’t you perform well before? Why is it like this now?"

"............"

No one spoke.

"President."

"Here!"

Upon hearing Tasuku’s voice, a girl hurriedly stood up.

"Why is it like this?"

Tasuku watched her, repeating his question. The girl hesitated, stealing a glance at Duanmu Huai, before replying softly.

"Be-because someone is observing, everyone is quite nervous..."

"That’s not okay."

Tasuku shook his head.

"If we want to compete at the national level, we have to play in front of many more judges and audiences. If one person’s observation can cause this, how can we participate in the national competition?"

"......"

No one answered. What Tasuku said was so correct that they didn’t know how to respond. Yet, each of them was screaming internally—it’s not the same thing, okay!

Though Duanmu Huai chose a spot at the back for their sake, particularly because the band was arranged fan-shaped centered on Tasuku, no one could see him if he stood in the corner. But the pressure exuding from Duanmu Huai and his gaze made the Wind Band Club members break out in cold sweats. Even if he stayed silent, everyone felt like they were shivering in an icehouse; just a glance from him made their blood freeze, and their fingers wouldn’t respond.

They weren’t inexperienced in performing, but this kind of atmosphere and tension, they really hadn’t encountered before!

It was like putting their life on the line!

Since when does performing wind music threaten your life?

"Then, let’s try once more."

Tasuku didn’t say much more, raising his baton again.

And so began one repetition after another. Honestly speaking, Duanmu Huai was getting bored. Because what they performed was classical music, not rock or light music, and with his presence causing off-pitches and wrong notes, it had no appreciation value.

This made Duanmu Huai somewhat regretful; it felt like listening to noise while imprisoned... Was this torturing them or me?

After several repeated practices, it was finally time for the club activities to end. Duanmu Huai hurriedly left, while Tasuku left a parting remark, "Until you can perform smoothly and correctly," then departed from the music classroom.
