Chapter 1239: Chapter 1239: I Won’t Refuse Extra Discounts
"Dan Hanjie, I think I heard the baby crying. He hasn’t had milk all day; he must be fussing."
"You’re overthinking it; he’s sleeping soundly and hasn’t asked for you."
Dan Hanjie glanced at her and grabbed her small hand, squeezing it in his palm.
"I really heard it."
Qin Youxuan just couldn’t rest easy, always feeling the sound of a baby’s cry in her ears.
Moreover, when Tingye had his full-month celebration, he stayed over at the Ye Family for one night and refused to drink milk the next day.
Qin Youxuan had taken medicine now and dared not breastfeed the baby, but thinking of the little one fussing made her unbearably heartache.
"The maternity matron is taking good care of him; he’s not crying."
Dan Hanjie knew she didn’t believe him, so he simply lifted her out of bed and carried her to the neighboring baby room.
He let her see for herself the little one sleeping soundly.
"He’s so heartless; he hasn’t seen me all day yet he doesn’t even miss me," Qin Youxuan grumbled, her voice sour.
She was worried when she hadn’t seen him and found herself even more heartbroken upon realizing her son hadn’t missed her at all.
Being a mother, Qin Youxuan had now truly experienced all sorts of emotions.
Languidly leaning into Dan Hanjie’s embrace, she let him carry her back to the room.
After taking her medicine, Qin Youxuan quickly felt sleepy.
As soon as she hit the bed, she started to doze off.
"Mr. Jie, Mr. Jinchen heard that the young madam was sick and came to visit. He’s already downstairs," the butler said respectfully.
"The young madam is still sleeping; don’t let anyone disturb her."
Dan Hanjie’s eyes flashed, and he rose from beside the bed, gave an instruction to the butler, then stepped downstairs.
As he reached the stairwell, he saw Jiang Jinchen sitting in the living room with his enticing eyes slightly squinted.
"I thought you were going off on your own, even planning not to see me."
Dan Hanjie walked up, passed by Jiang Jinchen, and went straight to the nearby liquor cabinet, pouring two glasses of red wine.
He strolled to the sofa and placed one of the glasses in front of Jiang Jinchen.
"This matter, my father will definitely pursue, and you’ve got enough troubles as it is; there’s no need to get you involved," Jiang Jinchen replied indifferently, offering an explanation.
He picked up the red wine in front of him and downed it in one gulp.
The satisfying way he drank it clearly showed his unhappiness.
Without asking, knowing what could upset a man like Jiang Jinchen, Dan Hanjie knew only one person.
Ning Yanan.
"You catch on fast; Qin Youxuan just got sick, and you show up. Are you really here to see her, or are you waiting for someone else?" Dan Hanjie sipped his wine and opened the conversation with a deep tone.
Jiang Jinchen’s grip on his glass tightened, then he casually placed the glass back on the table.
"Don’t make me out to be heartless. It wasn’t convenient before, so I couldn’t come to find you. Now that I’m here, you’re treating me like I have ulterior motives. Qin Youxuan is my cousin; we are related by blood."
"I also remember you once told me that the Jiang Family has many sisters related by blood and that a less favored branch like hers wouldn’t even catch your eye."
Dan Hanjie gave him a cold look.
"Do you have to use my words against me? Haven’t you also said you’d never marry in your lifetime, and yet now your wedding is imminent? People are emotional beings. I truly now see Qin Youxuan as my cousin, and showing her concern is only proper. As for the rest, if there are additional benefits, I won’t refuse them."
Jiang Jinchen spoke ambiguously, leaned back on the sofa, and casually straightened his short hair, feeling no shame at all.
"Don’t make a scene here; if you upset her, I won’t be polite," Dan Hanjie put down his wine glass, his tone a warning.
