Chapter 341: Drawing a Prison on the Ground
Chapter 341: Chapter 341: Drawing a Prison on the Ground
She had always had Xiao Jing by her side, but this was her first time venturing out alone.
Right, there was Cola too.
Cola was well-trained; it remembered all her usual routes clearly.
However, ever since she became blind, she had intentionally trained her sense of direction and spatial awareness, and was already capable of going out on her own.
It turned out, she wasn’t inherently bad with directions; she had just been too reliant on that person before, never considering memorizing the routes on her own.
After the phone call that day, Xiaoqiao had been thinking of ways to reassure Leng Jing.
She had already decided that she would never look for a man again in this lifetime, but in doing so, she had made Leng Jing worry. She had already delayed her life for three full years; was she going to drag Leng Jing down with her for a lifetime?
Even if she wanted to find someone now, who would want to marry her with her being blind?
Finding an ordinary man with kindness, honesty, and the willingness to take care of her was already a luxury.
Where could she find someone that would put Leng Jing’s mind at ease?
The grandma next door was a famous matchmaker around here. She really liked her and had always said that although she was blind, she could still help her find a good man to take care of her. But she had always politely declined.
It looked as though she had moved on and forgotten the past, but in truth, she was still trapped in the memories, unable to extricate herself.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t be living each day as it came, never thinking about what the future held.
The bus had reached its stop.
Xiaoqiao, holding Cola’s leash, got off the bus.
She took a deep breath; indeed, the air in the countryside was better than in the city.
Perk up!
As long as she was alive, as long as she could breathe, life had to go on.
Why confine herself to a prison of her own making?
Perhaps, it was time to try and take that most difficult first step.
-
"Pikachu!"
"It’s so cute!"
As soon as Xiaoqiao got off, she heard continuous exclamations of "so cute," "Pikachu," and "that man is so handsome" around her.
A handsome man dressed up as Pikachu? Or does he look like Pikachu?
Xiaoqiao’s mouth twitched; were people’s aesthetics getting stranger here?
"Passengers going to Chiba, please prepare to board," the ticket seller’s voice came from nearby.
Xiaoqiao patted Cola beside her and spoke in Chinese, "Let’s go! I’ll buy your favorite dog food!"
"Woof! Woof!" Cola wagged its tail and stuck out its tongue, panting happily.
The two of them slowly walked out of the bus station.
Behind them, the bus that had travelled several hundred meters suddenly stopped, and Gu Hangshen hurried down with Xiao Nian in his arms, his eyes scanning the crowd anxiously, but he couldn’t find that face anywhere.
"Mommy!" Xiao Nian suddenly pointed ahead and called out in a small voice.
Gu Hangshen stared at the girl approaching him head-on. Her head was bowed as she rummaged through her bag, leading a large dog by the leash.
She had lost a lot of weight and had completely shed her baby fat. The innocence and naivety of past days were also gone without trace.
Her fluffy, slightly disheveled curls partly obscured her eyes, entirely overturning her once obedient and cute image.
Like jade refined by the years, one no longer needed to carefully appreciate and explore deeply to see through her substance – one glance was enough to see the stunning dazzle.
What was most striking was that she was so dazzling, yet completely unaware of it.
Though many eyes around her were upon her, she continued to immerse herself in her own world.
