Chapter 899: Chapter 16 Tifa

Although Odin, who was standing to the side, did not speak, the tension on his face betrayed his inner feelings. No matter how powerful he might be, the issue concerning his daughter was still of utmost importance to him, and he watched Doris’s face intently, waiting for her explanation.

"Freya, you say? My lord did not specify, but guidance was given," Doris shrugged casually. "Indeed, she is not a deity’s favorite, nor does she have the protection of a deity. Theoretically, she has no reason to enter, but my lord clearly indicated that she can follow us in without any problems."

"Reason," Pannis frowned and asked. "Even if Weston is a deity, he can’t just say things without meaning. If he thinks Freya can follow us in, there must be a reason. What exactly is it?"

"I am but a conduit for the will of the gods, and the will of deities is not something that a mortal life like mine can guess," Doris said seriously, shaking her head. "So, I cannot answer your question. However, there is a hint in the oracle of my lord. Lord Caleto has said that you have your own methods of solving this, and it’s a very simple method. You don’t need any reminders from him, so he did not specify to avoid disrupting your thought process."

"Sigh, the problem has been pushed back to us again," Pannis said with a headache. "Even if it’s a distraction, we need to have a starting point before we can be distracted. Now, without any ideas, there is nothing to be interfered with. This is too cunning."

"It’s just this trivial matter, and yet you go back and forth so annoyingly," Lina suddenly frowned, clearly irritated, with arms crossed and showing disdain. "Can’t you think before you speak? Can’t you figure out such a simple issue?"

"Uh, which lady is this time?" Those present had heard about Lina’s situation to varying degrees, so no one was particularly upset by her sudden change of demeanor; rather, they watched her with curious faces, having never seen such a peculiar transformation. Only Pannis sighed resignedly and said, "Shouldn’t you introduce yourself first?"

"What does it matter to you who I am?" Lina’s mood was evidently not pleasant; she snorted coldly, "Let me be clear, I couldn’t care less about your life or death. If it weren’t for her begging me to consult, I wouldn’t bother to waste my time. So don’t think I want to help you. I have no such interest."

"Uh, I think I know who you are," Pannis said with a wry smile, scratching his head and tentatively asking, "You are Miss Tifa, the Archbishop of the god of decay and withering, and one of Lina’s friends, right?"

"Tifa?" When she heard the name, the most shocked was Fula. As a follower of the Life Deity System, Fula seemed to vaguely remember that name, a figure from the earlier part of the Third Epoch. She had been active before the War of Faith began, engaged in cruel conflicts of faith through dark methods, her hands stained with the blood of heretics, the archbishop who had planned and executed nearly all the conspiracies for the forest side during that era. As the deity represented by this name was too unusual and the actions of its bearer too extreme, even the Elven Royal Court’s confidential records were reluctant to mention her too much, rarely detailing her deeds.

"What are you calling me for?" Tifa, controlling Lina’s body, glanced sidelong at Fula and snorted. "I thought it was someone, but just by sitting beside you, I can smell an odor coming at me, belonging to the bloodline of Nala. You are Nala’s descendant, aren’t you? The seventh generation? The eighth? Hmph, even Nala wouldn’t dare to call my name outright."

"I’m sorry, Lord Tifa..." Fula, who originally just repeated Pannis’s address out of surprise, not intending to invoke her name, was met with reprimand and it seemed indeed it was the archbishop from the same era as her eighth ancestor, so she could only bow her head in disgruntlement; her pointed ears drooped down, and she spoke softly, "I apologise profusely, please forgive me. It was not intentional."

"Tsk, I’ve long been dead anyway, who cares how you call me," Tifa said with a twist of her mouth and turned her head away. "Besides, I’m not the Tifa that existed in reality anymore, so it doesn’t matter. However, at least I belong to the sort that once existed, some real memories are still preserved. Seven eight four nine five two six zero one four eight, remember it."

"This is..." Flare pondered with confusion for a moment, her eyes suddenly lit up with surprise, she said, "Could it be..."

"Alright, you know that’s enough." Tifa waved her hand and said, "I don’t even know what this is anymore, I only know that this sequence of numbers has always been etched in the deepest part of my memory, one of the few memories that hasn’t been inversely affected by the common knowledge of thousands of years, so it must be something very important. But don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t mean that I have any fondness for you new generation elves, nor does it mean that I care about you. I’m just annoyed by these numbers spinning around in my head."

"I understand." Flare’s ears perked up again and she said with a snicker, "No matter what the reason is, thank you for solving this problem that has troubled the Elf race for thousands of years."

"Who cares about your troubles." Tifa pursed her lips, then turned to Pannis and said, "And you, you were so quick on the uptake back in Icebound Town, weren’t you? How come you can’t understand such a simple matter now?"

"Uh..." Pannis scratched his head, knowing all too well that Tifa had a quirky personality, but it was quite a headache to be targeted directly, and with her seniority, he had reservations about objecting, so all he could do was scratch his head helplessly and say, "I feel that calling me quick-witted must be your misconception."

"What a hassle." Tifa said with dissatisfaction, "The solution is right beside you, a problem that can be solved by a mere necklace, and yet you make it so complicated."

"A mere necklace?" Pannis’s expression became strange as he tentatively asked, "Could you mean... Annie?"

"You’ve finally caught on," Tifa rolled her eyes and said, "Truly a cause for celebration, I no longer have to waste my time, goodbye."

"Uh, wait... well, she’s already gone." Pannis sighed, exchanged glances with Catherine, and asked with a bitter smile, "It seems like what she said isn’t impossible, theoretically speaking, Annie really could do it."

"Who did you say?" Doris asked, "That little banshee you raised?"

"Yeah, that’s her," Pannis nodded, "Her name is Annie."

"Death Banshee," Doris mused, "Then it’s settled, the method spoken by the Deity must be referring to her."(To be continued.
