Chapter 891: Chapter 8 Declaration of War

"Yes, this Elf is the most detestable." Another woman wrapped in a black cloak and nearly as tall as Pannis, spoke in a voice filled with alluring charm, nodding as she said, "She didn’t even bother to poke her head out and wave to everyone. Truly too arrogant. Should we splash her with water?"

"Sure, but when those children chase you down to beat you up, don’t expect me to do anything about it." The first woman cloaked in black stood casually, yet she exuded an indescribable nobility and elegance. She spoke in a slightly deep voice, "Isn’t it better to stay under the sea? Why insist on coming ashore?"

"Can’t help it, when I heard my little brother was having trouble that wasn’t easy to solve, of course, I wanted to come and see." The tall woman seemed to be smiling as she spoke, "Ah, back in the day, it was clearly said that on land..."

"Cough, cough, Doris sister." Pannis turned his head, looking helpless as he said, "Didn’t you say you would be able to come in a few days? How come you were waiting at my doorstep early this morning?"

"Missing my brother, so I swam a bit faster," responded Doris, the spiritual leader of the Sea Race, the High Priest of the Storm God Temple, and a royalty from the deep sea. When she transformed into her terrestrial form, she was exceptionally tall, and her Water Mist Barrier still emitted a faint, moist breath. "Well, actually I have other matters to discuss with you, but it’s not urgent right now. We have plenty of time later, after meeting with the Guild leaders. It’s fine for us siblings to talk in private afterward."

"Is this something I don’t need to know?" Another lady spoke in a magnetic voice, "But I think I just heard you say you wanted to talk with ’us.’ It’s not so easy to try and tease me, Doris."

"Sigh, after so many years, you two haven’t changed, always teasing each other when you meet. Is it really that fun?" Pannis rubbed his forehead with a headache and asked, "And why didn’t you just stay comfortably in the carriage, Your Majesty, instead coming to find me so early?"

The Queen who should have been in the carriage, Flare, looked at Pannis with what seemed to be a speaking gaze. Her pale green pupils seemed to be brimming with tears, and the gentleness, disappointment, and anticipation in her eyes made Pannis’s heart ache as he sighed, "Alright, I understand, Flare. Can you answer me now?"

Her Majesty’s long eyebrows curved with her smile, her gaze filled with joy and happiness as she leisurely said, "You should have known I would come to find you earlier, Kyle. Why do you still feel the need to ask?"

"Well, I did think of it beforehand," admitted Pannis helplessly, "But the two of you showing up at my doorstep was a real shock. I thought something bad had happened."

"Your home?" Flare repeated thoughtfully under her breath, then spoke softly, "Well, the place you’re staying at now can be considered your home, so you didn’t really say anything wrong."

"Cough, cough, Your Majesty," Catherine, who was also standing not far from the rooftop, cleared her throat and spoke with a teasing smile, "I think I ought to seriously remind you. That place is our adventure team’s base, and hence it is indeed Pannis’s home. So, from any perspective, he did not say anything wrong just now."

"Perhaps," Flare said gently, "But the word ’home’ doesn’t merely represent a base, does it? Can a mere base truly be called a home?"

"So I’m saying, from any angle." Catherine replied unflinchingly, "In every aspect, he seems to have said nothing wrong, don’t you think, Your Majesty?"

"Ah, I remember now." Pannis seemed not to understand what they were talking about at all and, as if suddenly recalling something, he clenched his fist and smacked his palm saying, "If Flare, you come out, I need to go inform Odin and Antuin about it, otherwise it might cause chaos later, which wouldn’t be good for the reputation of your Elves, and it would be hard to explain to the Guild leaders. You guys should head over there in advance too, I’ll go find them first."

"Hehe, do you think he really didn’t understand, or did he pretend not to?" Flare’s emerald pupils hid a gentle smile, as if the person who had just had a covert argument with Catherine was not her, "I think he’s pretending."

"I also think he’s not so foolish that he couldn’t understand that much." Catherine too, as if she hadn’t done anything, replied with a light smile, "However, since he still doesn’t want to give any feedback, it means that he hasn’t been able to step out from Lady Nellie’s shadow. But it’s okay, I have plenty of patience, and can wait until the day he steps out of the shadows."

"It seems you’ve made up your mind." Flare, staring into Catherine’s eyes, said, "Are you preparing to officially go to war with me?"

"Of course." Catherine replied resolutely, "I won’t give up, and even if, as you said, his future will still return to your side, at least his present belongs to me, and just firmly believing in that is enough."

"Alright, I understand." Flare extended her hand toward Catherine, saying, "Although I still believe that you don’t deserve my regard as enemies, but since you all say so, let me see your strength. But be careful, I have a lot of experience facing knights as enemies."

"A lot of experience failing?" Catherine took Flare’s extended hand, teasing her like a good friend, "Don’t worry, although you are experienced, I am not alone. We are a collective of four, working in concert, and our combined strength may not be defeated by your experience."

"I don’t think so," the two women stood shoulder to shoulder, hand in hand, not at all like enemies who had just declared war. Flare elegantly adjusted the long emerald hair under her hood and said softly, "Actually, everyone really likes you kids. If you don’t believe me, ask the merfolk behind you."

"Not just like, but also very grateful." Doris said softly from behind the two, "You have done what all of us wanted to do but failed to; you truly pulled him out of the abyss. Just for that, we friends owe you a big favor."

"Thank you, but I actually think that this is our happiness, our genuine hope, and not something we did to make you owe us a favor, so we will not accept it," Catherine said solemnly, "Especially Your Majesty, if you think you owe us a favor and intentionally lose to us, we would look down on you."

"Haha, don’t worry, emotions are one thing that can’t be mixed with obligations," Flare chuckled, covering her mouth, "I won’t hold back just because you helped him. Since you’ve declared war, I want not just the future, but the present as well, and I hope you won’t disappoint me." (To be continued.
