Chapter 809: Chapter 74: The Red-robed Mage

"I’m truly sorry for the inconvenience," Catherine apologized with a smile to a group of young people who were staring in disbelief. "We’ve finished what we came here to do, and we’ll just hang around in the hall for a bit if you don’t mind. Oh, and don’t mind him, his mind isn’t quite right, but I can assure you, he won’t bite, don’t worry."

A group of young apprentices watched dumbfounded as a visibly distressed Pannis was dragged away by the collar, unable to use words to express their emotions at the time. These kids, living in the Third Flame City, often saw the lord Master Fila come to guide them and even their teachers, so they understood some traits of a demigod. Pannis’s earlier performance made it clear he was traversing through his Inherent Psychic Domain. While one can lie with words, the Psychic Domain does not deceive. It meant this mysteriously friendly person courting the prettiest apprentice girl was undoubtedly a demigod, nearly a transcendent being above humans. The surprise was not just the appearance of a demigod, but more so about Catherine. In the eyes of these children, demigods were untouchable beings, yet this knightess could not only drag a demigod by his collar but also lecture him while knocking on his head along the way. This confirmed she was a formidable existence, indeed stronger than a demigod. No doubt about it.

Indeed, the apprentices weren’t wrong in their thinking. In a way, Catherine’s anger had exceeded Pannis’s powers. Furious, she dragged him to an inconspicuous corner of the hall where no one else could see, and once again demonstrated her formidable lecturing skills. Muir, still with an expression of nonchalance, stood there smiling and arms crossed. Despite being several meters away, Catherine’s suppressed roar and lecture still reached his sensitive ears.

Only after nearly five minutes did a dazed Pannis follow behind Catherine from the corner, his expression so vacant as if he had lost consciousness, which could evoke sympathy from those unaware of the situation. However, clearly, no one present felt any sympathy for him. Muir shook his head in amusement and clicked his tongue, "Such powerful lecturing skills are truly befitting the role model of current knights. But I never imagined your interaction would be like this, hmm, quite interesting though. Seeing his delighted face, he must really like this mode."

"Hey, are you blind?" Pannis instantly regained his spirit and retorted furiously, "How can you see happiness on my face? Did you leave your clergy’s honesty back at the Elven Royal Court? And are you an idiot? How could anyone like this mode? And how on Earth can such a violent person be a role model for knights, you...ah!"

As the knightess known for her violence slowly withdrew her fist, Catherine clenched her teeth and spoke bitterly, "You, I just can’t relax around you. If I don’t keep an eye on you, you go around causing trouble everywhere. Since I’m already labeled as violent and not a role model for knights, I might as well show you what a violent person is."

"Help, murder!" Panics, feeling the tangible aura of resentment around Catherine, instinctively sensed his life was in danger and swiftly hid behind Lina, pushing her shoulders to shield himself. "Lina, save me quick, Catherine has gone mad, she’s going to kill me! You are the Sage of the God of Compassion, you can’t bear to witness a murder happening, save me!"

While everyone was engaging in delightful interactions, a door on the side of the hall opened, and a flash of red heralded the entry of a Mage clad in a crimson robe. The Mage appeared to be in his thirties and carried an air of composed Sureness, as if he was confident in his mastery of all things. He looked vaguely familiar, as if they had seen him somewhere before. Of course, it wasn’t just a feeling, the young ladies all remembered having seen him briefly around the outskirts of the Whispering Swamp at the Scale Armor Tribe, though there had been no interaction. The fleeting encounter with the mature Mage had left a clear impression on everyone. After deciding to visit Master Fila, the girls knew they would undoubtedly meet this Mage again, but they hadn’t expected the reunion to come so swiftly, nor had they expected that he would be the one representing Master Fila to greet old friends as the Chief Executive of the Third Flame City.

As the Crimson-robed Mage Felic appeared, the girls tacitly ceased their playfulness with Pannis. In the presence of a stranger, they aimed to maintain a poised image alongside Pannis, so as Felic approached, they had already adopted a fitting expression, smiling and nodding to the approaching crimson-robed Mage.

"Welcome to the Third Flame City," said Felic, his voice charismatic and resonant, his deep tones slightly husky, exuding confidence and appeal. It was uncertain whether it was the result of years of experience as Chief Executive or an inherent confidence that had caught Master Fila’s eye, making him both a chief apprentice and an executive. Felic removed his pointed Mage’s hat and tapped his magic staff lightly on the ground. This was a unique Mage’s courtesy, "If I’m not mistaken, you’re friends from the Nellie adventure team. It is an honor to meet you here."

As usual, it was Catherine’s role as team captain to handle external negotiations, but the astute Catherine clearly understood that this time her role was peripheral. Therefore, she stepped back half a step and stood slightly behind Pannis, letting Pannis face this student of his old friend.

Pannis cleared his throat and responded with a gentleman’s grace, "Hello, Fila’s student. I am now Pannis of the City of Knowledge. I am pleased to meet you again. We have come to the Third Flame City to visit Fila."

"Mr. Pannis, I cannot count how often I have heard your name from my teacher," Felic said with deep respect, bowing slightly. "The heroic deeds you performed with the teacher are admired by all of us students. Meeting you is an honor of my lifetime." Evidently, Felic was well aware of Pannis’s true stature. "The teacher sensed your arrival and would have wished to greet you personally, but as you may know, his health prevents him from coming down, so he has sent me to welcome you on his behalf. I hope you don’t mind."
