Chapter 803: Chapter 68 Master Fila’s Condition

One must admit that, even though the full view of the Floating Island above can’t be seen from beneath, such a large landmass floating above the city is enough to give a strong sense of shock. These artificial Floating Islands, powered by Leyline Energy, brazenly absorb magic’s power, completely breaking free from the constraints of gravity, soaring freely in the sky. Meanwhile, the residents of the city below have grown accustomed to it, going about their daily lives without worry that the Floating Island would fall and crush them. At noon, some even purposely seek the shadow of the Floating Island to escape the scorching sunlight.

As the girls walked through the Third Fiery City, everything seemed so novel to them. Although they had traveled to many places and seen many unique cities and architectural styles, this city, unique to the Butte Plateau, still brought them a strong sense of surprise. Being in the north and influenced by the underground energy, the temperatures on the plateau are high, so the attire of the people here is very cool, with both men and women wearing only a thin single layer of clothing, baring large expanses of skin. This was somewhat uncomfortable for the girls, accustomed to the Holy City’s emphasis on etiquette, where it was considered proper to keep one’s clothing neat and tidy. In their eyes, this was quite rude behavior, something even the Beastmen—regarded as savages by humans—would not do. Although they had heard of the local customs, without seeing them for themselves, they found it hard to believe that as fellow humans, there could be those who dressed like this when stepping out. However, the girls also understood that this was entirely due to geographical factors; ordinary people don’t possess the physical strength of professionals and can’t resist the impact of the hot climate. For them, wearing as little as possible is the most effective way to combat the heat. Therefore, the girls felt uncomfortable inside but did not show it on their faces.

"Aside from going to the beach, I’ve never tried wearing so little," said Vivian, who was usually wrapped in a mage’s robe, looking at the crowd dressed in skimpy outfits. "Actually, I’m quite curious about what these people would do if they went to other cities. Accustomed to such an environment, they would find it difficult to adapt to the winter in other cities. Hmm, suddenly, I’d really like to see these citizens walking the streets in the Holy City on a snowy day dressed like this. It would be quite interesting."

"They’re not fools," Lina said with an eye roll, pouting. "Actually, I’d quite like to try dressing like this too. Hehe, that would be really fun. Big sister, let’s dress like this for the next few days we’re in the Kingdom of Mages. After all, we should respect local customs, right? Moreover, this dopey Vivian’s body already doesn’t look much different, so even if she wore nothing at all, it wouldn’t be too out of the ordinary."

"You’re the dope, you’re the one who should wear nothing," retorted Vivian, prodding Lina’s waist with her magic staff. "And no matter where you are, wearing nothing at all is always weird, okay? Your brain is the one that’s all mixed up, so don’t drag us into this. We don’t want to join your madness."

"Both of you, stop it," Catherine sighed, her head aching. "We’re here to deal with serious matters alongside Pannis, not for fun. We need to finish and head home quickly. We’ve been out for several months, and I’m worried about the situation back home. I wonder if Pansy and Mimosa have caused any chaos, and Little Deer and Annie, the kids who’ve been lonely for so many years. They must be really concerned after we’ve been away so long, worrying about being abandoned by family again. Sigh, I hope they’re not too sad."

"If you had children, you’d definitely be a good mother," Lina said with a mischievous smile. "From what you just said, I can already imagine what you would be like as a mother. Hehe, right, Pannis? Hmm, you would probably be a good father too, seeing how caring you are now. Definitely no problem there."

"I feel like answering that question is going to bring me bad luck, so I refuse to answer," Pannis said, looking up as if he hadn’t heard anything. He was currently holding Ava’s hand, standing to the side, the two of them together resembling a father out with his daughter. Ava gave Lina a wooden look and in a flat tone said, "The probability of you being beaten by big sister within a minute is 87.4 percent, and the chance of being lectured by her is as high as 96.2 percent. If I were you, I definitely wouldn’t be smiling."

"Enough, Freya is back," said Catherine, tapping Lina on the head as a punishment, then waved towards the distance. "Freya, we’re over here. How did it go? Did you get any news from the Mage’s Guild?"

The Mage Guild is a worldwide organization, much like the Mercenary Guild and the Adventurer’s Guild, with branches in the majority of cities. If one is in another country, the Adventurer’s Guild is often the go-to for gathering intelligence since they have the most up-to-date information. However, in the Kingdom of Mages, due to the high status of Mages, many high-level pieces of intelligence can only be obtained here. Therefore, as a member of the Mages and someone with extensive experience in politics and interpersonal interactions, it was naturally up to Freya to step forward and collect intelligence at the local Mage Guild.

"There isn’t any bad news," Freya said, using her hand to shield herself from the sunlight. Even though she stealthily used Ice-attribute Crystal shards to cool down, she was still uncomfortably hot from the sun: "Master Filan’s health hasn’t changed; it’s said that he still guides the students for an hour every morning under the care of his nursing staff. It seems there’s no problem. Although the Master hasn’t received visitors for a long time, if Pannis steps forward, he will definitely be able to see him."

"I will take care of it," Pannis nodded. "It’s good to know he isn’t having any problems."

"Also, Master Filan’s Chief Executive, Felic, has already returned," Freya continued. "It seems he was much faster than us. I heard that after his return, Master Filan’s spirits have visibly improved. He must have already used the medicine from Lord Alcmene. If we are to visit the Master, now would be the best opportunity."

"Then we will visit first thing tomorrow morning," Catherine inquired. "Pannis, do you think that’s appropriate?"

"No need to wait, let’s go now," Pannis shook his head. "Didn’t Freya just say he gives instruction to his students in the morning? I’m worried he might need to rest in the afternoon if he’s not feeling well. Let’s go now to see how things are and arrange a proper time for a detailed discussion. These matters can’t be explained in just a few words; we need enough time."

"Alright, I understand," Catherine said. "Then let’s find a place to stay first. Are there any inns nearby?"

"Follow me," Freya replied. "The Mage Guild operates its own inn, which would be perfect for us to stay in."
