Chapter 774: Chapter 39 Crushing_1
A silver streak of light shot towards the Marsh Stalker that was entangled with Catherine, but just before it managed to hit the Stalker’s defensive net of tentacles, it swerved sideways, revealing its rear. Behind Nellie’s phantom was Pannis, shadow-like, borrowing the airstream created by Nellie’s air-burst to accelerate continuously, almost keeping pace with her. Pannis was encompassed by a soft green glow - an effect of wind-attribute magic used for speed. Over a century ago, when they wandered through the Yarran World together, they often cooperated in this way. However, back then, during Nellie’s charge, Pannis often held her hand to leverage her strength to maximize his speed. But now, he couldn’t touch Nellie’s phantom and couldn’t recreate their former pattern of cooperation. Therefore, Pannis had to adopt the current method of using the airstream to boost his own speed.
After Nellie’s phantom moved to the side, Pannis’s speed had reached its maximum. Leveraging this speed, he didn’t change his direction. His Demigod Rank Aggression burst forth strongly, and he shot towards the Marsh Stalker like a Crystal Energy Bullet from Freya’s cannon. Lurkers have no sight and only depend on sensing the flow of air from their outer skin, but Pannis’s speed was just too fast. By the time the stalker sensed the flow of the wind, Pannis had already abruptly crashed into it.
It was the first time the girls had seen Pannis fight in such a wild manner. His past fights often involved clever tactics to resolve issues, utilizing all sorts of external factors to minimize enemy strength. The girls had learned many previously unconceived ideas from Pannis. However, no one had anticipated that he would confront a Demigod Rank opponent head-on in this unexpectedly assertive manner this time around.
Being a Magic Swordsman, Pannis’s Aggression was full of sharp and aggressive energy. After a full sprint, his body turned into a sharp sword and in the blink of an eye, pierced directly through the Marsh Stalker’s body as if passing through a layer of air. The movement of the Marsh Stalker’s tentacles paused. Over twenty tentacles that Pannis had touched fell off neatly as if there was a rain of tentacles. Following that, the immense energy left by Pannis inside its body detonated, creating a gaping hole that ran straight through it, with a diameter of about three meters. Massive amounts of purple blood gushed out from the hole, leading to a rain of blood after the rain of tentacles.
After finishing all this, Pannis didn’t stop. He signaled Lina, instructing her to continue suppressing the Marsh Stalker she was in charge of. He then darted toward the faltering Marsh Stalker and whirled around the sands. This time, Pannis didn’t just use his speed to pass through the stalker’s body. Instead, he lifted his one-handed sword, and the energy from the Aggression continuously gathered and expanded on the sword. The Aggression centered around the one-handed sword, ultimately transforming into a giant sword made up of glowing energy. The length of the giant sword was nearly ten meters, and it was over a meter wide, exuding a breathtaking majesty.
Pannis held the giant sword horizontally and nodded at Nellie’s phantom, which was on the opposite side of him across from the lurker. At this time, the knight lance in the phantom’s hand had already been replaced with a knight sword. Each held a weapon, and they launched an assault in opposite directions. Neither of them used any skills, so the speed of the assault wasn’t too fast. Although the Marsh Stalker’s injuries seemed severe, the burls that served as the core weren’t significantly damaged and thus, it still had the strength to wave its tentacles in defense. Yet, the tentacles which usually required the girls to use a lot of force to cut off, were easily sliced into several pieces in front of the weapons of Pannis and Nellie’s phantom, like a birthday cake being sliced with a dinner knife.
The two individuals kept swirling around the Marsh Stalker. The speed of their weapon swings was almost too fast for the girls to keep up. The burls on the Stalker’s body burst one after another under their slicing, making its movements slower and smaller. However, the girls soon sensed something wrong. It seemed that Pannis and Nellie’s phantom weren’t only performing regular attacks. The girls felt like they were witnessing a dismemberment. The body of the Stalker, including its broken tentacles, was cut into smaller pieces under the concentrated attacks of their weapons until they were only about half a meter in size. Hence, the girls witnessed the process of a giant beast, over ten meters in diameter with hundreds of tentacles that were forty to fifty meters long, being turned into pieces of flesh under the meat-grinder-like attack of the duo. Even Catherine, known for her steadiness, felt a surge of unease about this situation.
Moreover, because Demigods can maintain a constantly active surrounding Shield, not a single drop of purple blood, flesh, or any secreted mucus from the Stalker adhered to them. Their outfits remained as clean as at the start, as if they hadn’t been the ones fighting.
After cutting up a rather large chunk of meat, the Aggression on Pannis’s one-handed sword dissipated. At the meeting point in the center, he and Nellie’s phantom moved back. Habitually, he reached out to grab Nellie’s hand. However, as expected, his hand went right through Nellie’s phantom, only grabbing air. This unexpected event stunned Pannis for a moment, and then he reacted with a helpless smirk, shaking his head and sighing.
The Stalker had a large body and needed to be cut into chunks. Even though their actions were quick, the duo still took several minutes. During these minutes, the girls weren’t idle and merely watching their fight, but only spared a bit of their attention. As soon as Pannis went after the Stalker, the four girls turned their focus onto the victim that was kept immobilized by Lina’s tentacles. Fireballs, Energy Bullets, fists, Light Techniques, long swords, shields, and even hammers rained down onto the Stalker’s body, particularly onto its burls, utilizing the fact that its tentacles had lost their mobility. The two melee professionals weaved through the tentacles, while the ranged professionals attacked from outside the range of the tentacles. Under such concentrated attacks, the burls on the Stalker’s body continuously burst. As Pannis had hinted before, once a large number of burls burst, the Stalker entered a vicious cycle, moving slower and the slower it moved, the more burls burst.
However, just when the girls thought they could kill the enemy with their own strength, Pannis and Nellie’s phantom dashed over again, interrupting them, and repeated the dismemberment, doubling the spread of flesh chunks. It was only when they confirmed that the last Stalker had died that Catherine furrowed her brows and asked puzzlingly, "What are you doing? Are you afraid that they will regenerate even when cut into such small pieces?" (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, you are welcome to vote, support, and recommend it at QiDian.com.
