Chapter 768: Chapter 33 Ava’s Radiance_1
Ava’s body originated from Sigein, the most powerful one of the Triclops, or to put it more accurately, her body itself is a clone of Sigein’s. At a glance, she seems like a miniaturized version of Sigein, with skin as fair as snowflakes drifting in the sky, her golden hair as smooth as silk, while her red lips slightly moist, as appealing and tempting like the cherries adorning a cream cake. Her aquamarine eyes shimmer with the vitality of life. Even though Ava had lived for over ten thousand years, she still resembled a little girl in appearance. She seldom spoke and always had a poker face, standing there like a delicate doll, making people can’t help but want to pinch her cheeks or take her in their arms.
However, nobody was fooled into believing she was just a doll. Those who knew her were aware that she not only inherited Sigein’s physical appearance but also her strength, power, and physical constitution - all were carried on in this doll-like little girl. The girls could never forget that woman named Sigein, who was leisurely combing her hair in the Goblin Research Centre Emergency Shelter whilst confronted with four legendaries and a demigod. She gave off the impression of a lady lazily dolling up before an afternoon tea party. Who could forget her? With her breathtaking beauty matched by her equally breathtaking power, she vanquished countless deities, and could set up traps to slay her divine enemies even when she was seriously injured and fleeing. Despite the passage of hundreds of thousands of years, she barely forgotten to take vengeance on the gods. Even when she was heavily injured and could only exert a tenth of her power, she still managed to effortlessly thwart Pannis’s attempt to steal the healing instrument with a faint smile. Who could forget her? Who dared to forget her? Hence, would anyone regard Ava, who inherited Sigein’s body, as a mere doll regardless of her doll-like appearance?
Of course, the girls never did so. Although Ava was still in her growth period and only possessed legendary rank strength, everyone knew that it was merely a matter of time and experience for her to reach or even surpass the demi-god rank. Therefore, even though Ava had not truly fought before, the girls still overestimated her strength as much as possible. Nevertheless, they found that they had been somewhat conservative in their estimates. Ava was stronger than they had imagined, and there were some hidden forces they didn’t know about, such as the light technique she was using now.
Yes, Light Technique, the most powerful racial ability of the Triclops, controlled by the third eye, it could almost accomplish anything. Ava had never been taught how to use the Light Technique, nor had she ever seen its practical application - only stumbling upon a description of it in a document. However, the memories ingrained in her bloodline allowed her to naturally understand and spontaneously utilize all the Light Techniques she could use, exactly as she was doing now.
Having had to conceal her identity before, Ava’s third eye had always been tightly shut, only opening when no one else was around. Now, her tightly shut eye suddenly opened, its clear, pure aquamarine pupil reminiscent of the recently-separated Tear of the Gods. But within the lucidity of her eye was harbored a destructive power - a furious light.
Though they did not know what Light Technique was, upon hearing Ava’s warning, Catherine still promptly moved out of Ava’s line of sight based on her judgment of experience, and the furious light burst forth. The destructively illuminating radiance spurted out of Ava’s third eye on her forehead; its immense power covered all the space in front of Ava in a conical pattern. The radiant light was unstoppable; all obstructions and defenses could only vainly struggle under the grandiose and pure light. Instantaneously engulfing the bodies of two Marsh Stalkers, the light even swallowed the surrounding desert and bones. When the radiance flared up, the girls intuitionally closed their eyes but their field of vision still became white, feeling a sharp pain in their eyes even though their eyelids were closed. They uniformly thought in their hearts that if they were directly exposed to such light, they would certainly go blind.
By the end of the Second Epoch, the Triclops had essentially gone extinct. Hence nobody from the Third or Fourth Epoch had ever truly witnessed the power of Dazzling Light. Apart from Pannis and Aske, nobody had directly dealt with Light Technique, thus few truly understood its terror. Being a force of pure light, even the Aggression Shield and Magic Shield, capable of defending against all attacks, were utterly ineffective against the Light Technique. Therefore, under its onslaught, one could only depend on the toughness of their body to resist or, like Pannis had previously done, retreat into their Inherent Psychic Domain to evade the frontal blow of the Light Technique.
Certainly, the two Marsh Stalkers in front of them, although demigod rank, being magical beasts, could not control the Inherent Psychic Domain. Due to their massive bodies and changes in their surroundings, they couldn’t evade by moving quickly. Therefore, their only choice was to physically resist.
The conical light, sustaining for a full fifteen seconds, gradually dispersed. Everywhere the Light of Destruction passed was in a complete mess. A great portion of the bones and yellow sand were utterly eradicated by the illumination. Bones turned into flying ashes, while the once gravelly terrain became hard as a rock. However, the two Marsh Stalkers standing on the ground appeared to have not suffered severe damage. Before the Light of Destruction had arrived, the two lurkers had astutely sensed the outrageous turbulence of energy, and simultaneously formed a large net with their tentacles in front of themselves. When the Light of Destruction arrived, most of its frenzied energy was blocked by the tentacle net, showcasing their physical prowess matched their demigod-rank status; the strong light that could even melt pebbles was incapable of piercing through the net built of flesh. Only a few small tentacles were destroyed, and the impact on the lurkers was not significant.
The true impact came from a small amount of light energy that had penetrated through. This raging light pierced through the defense of the tentacle net, directly exploding on the relatively fragile body of the lurkers. Compared to the tentacles, the deformed bodies of the lurkers were indeed one of their weaknesses. Even if they were made of the same demigod flesh, their soft bodies couldn’t withstand the power of the Light of Destruction. Under the illumination of the light, tiny scales were directly shattered into pieces, the flesh underneath became blurry, and the wound was all scorched. Even the nearby meat lumps burst open due to the aftereffects, turning into a crimson mist.
The two Marsh Stalkers, who had barely endured until the end of the Light of Destruction, roared silently in pain, continuing on with their tentacle defenses. They quickly fluttered tentacles that were used as feet, rushing towards the girls. It seemed that they had made up their minds. No matter what method the girls used to attack them, they would hide behind their tentacle defenses until they rushed within attack distance. This way, they wouldn’t just stand in place and take a beating.
Unfortunately, their enemies included Vivian. They could never know that combat mages would never use just offensive magic in battles. Controlling the rhythm of the battle, targeting the enemy’s weaknesses, and using intelligence to fight were prerequisites for a good mage. The mage girl had been standing still, leaning on her magic staff like a bystander, not saying a word. She didn’t move until the Marsh Stalkers started moving quickly. Vivian sneered and slammed her staff heavily on the ground, uttering a few syllables: "Domain of Frost."
Consequently, the force of freezing cold covered the ground. A thin layer of hard ice quickly covered the ground which Lina had previously hardened. Although the ice layer was thin and cold, it couldn’t change the environmental temperature on a large scale or cause substantive damage to the enemy. It only made the ground very slippery. But for the Marsh Stalkers, such a smooth ground was like a nightmare.
Their usual mode of movement depended on the friction of the rough grains on the ground, using the tentacles to support their bodies as they advanced. Once the ground became smooth and the friction could not fix the tentacles, the harm of this mode of movement was fully demonstrated. The dozen or so tentacles that supported the lurkers’ bodies slid in all directions almost at the same time. Their unsupported bodies fell straight down like blocks of metal plunging into the water, crashing heavily on the ground. Suddenly falling down, the lurkers didn’t understand what had happened. They continued to try and use their tentacles to lift their bodies, even drawing a lot of tentacles from the net for assistance, but all efforts were in vain. Every time they tried to stand up, they slipped and fell again.
Given the girls’ understanding of each other, they naturally wouldn’t waste this excellent opportunity. Although the others didn’t go forward because of their modes of attack, Freya went all out. The crystal energy cannon kept roaring, energy orbs rained down on the Marsh Stalkers like raindrops. Each hit either left a patch of burnt black or took away a piece of flesh.
"Celestial Fire." Vivian raised her staff high, pointing at the sky. The free-fire attribute elements quickly converged in the sky, forming a tangible pillar of high-temperature fire. The pillar of fire, several meters in diameter, fell from the sky. After hitting the tentacle net, it quickly turned into a burning sea of fire, burning the two Marsh Stalkers’ massive bodies, causing their tentacles to flutter in frenzy.
If the two Marsh Stalkers were wise enough, they would certainly feel very frustrated. Despite having the physique of a demigod and great power, due to their own limitations, they were receiving substantial damage from five insects that should have been crushed easily. But they didn’t have such wisdom, so they wouldn’t feel frustrated. All they felt was increasing anger, and an unwavering determination to kill their enemies. (To be continued.
