Chapter 764: Chapter 29 Trust of Young Girls_1
The three Marsh Stalkers appeared confused. Their underdeveloped brains, hidden deep within their bodies, struggled to understand why they were suddenly removed from the familiar muck of their natural habitat and dumped in the desolate desert. The desolation and wind-swept sand of the desert felt foreign and uncomfortable to them. Being away from the soft mush and the sand and bits of bone lodged in their underbellies made their already fragile bodies uncomfortable. The strangeness of their surroundings made them restless. The figures of the six people standing about two hundred meters away added to the pressure, stirring up their beastly instincts and making them perceive danger. The three lurkers flailed their tentacles, signalling their threat to the adventure team, believing that they were out of their hunting grounds. They hoped that they could return to their familiar muddy haven to soothe their startled souls as quickly as possible. However, their tentacles were not nearly long enough to reach the people who were two hundred meters away. They beat the desert sand and white bones in frustration, but dared not get too close.
"What do we need to do?" Facing a Demigod Rank magical beast for the first time, Catherine felt surprisingly calm. As soon as she suspected Pannis’s identity, the smart female knight knew that they would inevitably face a Demigod Rank enemy together with the power of a Legendary Rank. The girls had been mentally prepared for this day and, to be honest, they were looking forward to it. It meant that Pannis truly considered them to be reliable partners. That’s all the girls ever wanted. Besides, it was easier to face a Demigod Rank magical beast for their first battle together than a Demigod Rank intelligent life-form. Since a beast’s rank is basically half of what it is considered to be, starting with a Demigod Rank magical beast would be easier. Catherine was even confident that the girls could win by themselves against such disoriented enemies who had lost their grounds, but only if they faced one at a time. Facing all three would be suicide. However, even with sufficient mental preparation, the girls didn’t know where to start. The strong knight girl couldn’t help but whisper, "How do you want us to cooperate with you? You are more experienced in fighting Demigod Rank magical beasts. You should make the strategy."
"Don’t worry, the enemy is not too difficult to deal with." Pannis seemed to revert back to being the perfect Kyle from a hundred years ago. His smile instilled a sense of comfort and trust. He calmly said, "Without the protection of the swamp, these magical beasts’ powers will diminishes drastically. Even with Demigod Rank speed, strength, and defence, as long as you handle them properly, their actual combat power is not even equal to some Legendary Rank magical beasts in their prime environments. So, you don’t have to overestimate them. Otherwise, you will be disappointed."
"I do not think we will be disappointed because the enemy is not strong enough." Freya has finally completed the assembly work, and like a lady, took out a handkerchief to wipe the sand dust from her fingers. She shook her head and said, "As mages, it’s most appropriate to defeat our enemies using the least amount of mana. If the enemy is not as strong as we thought, we will only be pleased. I think even that violent combat-oriented creature over there would feel the same."
"Of course. However, this time is different." Vivian’s hands were busy moving. Her petite yet robust hands kept rummaging through the pockets on her clothes and bag. With nearly a hundred pockets on her, each holding a potion bottle, she had moved through almost all of them. Being an Alchemist who enjoyed using various potions to aid her combat, arranging the most suitable potions as per the situation was the main task before a fight. As they had not seen the Lurkers in person before, she made her preparations based on her imagination. Now that she had actually seen them, adjustments were needed. The mage girl organized her potions very quickly. Her adept preparations left no doubt about her uncanny memory of the position of each bottle. As she was sorting them out, she gave a cold smirk and said, "This time, I can finally go into battle with my own body. This will be my first fight after my rebirth. It would be quite a letdown if the enemy is too weak."
"Well, I won’t feel disappointed. I just hope the battle ends quickly. I don’t want to see them, not even for an extra second." Lina turned her head away from the Lurkers, drawing squares on her chest to enhance her connection with the Deity. "I think these creatures shouldn’t even exist in this world."
"Why are you reacting like this?" Catherine asked curiously, "Even though they look quite disgusting, we have seen creatures that are even more nauseating in our adventures. Ihave never seen you react like this."
"Sister, you don’t understand, people who read too much knight novels are like this." Lina’s fair cheeks turned a slight shade of red. She quickly changed the topic, "However, I like to fight here. Compared to the ice plains and deep sea, although this is a desert, it allows me to merge with the earth closely. It’s not as hard as it used to be."
"I thought you would like it too." Pannis nodded, turning his attention towards Ava, who still showed no expression. "I just wanted to try bringing you in, and I didn’t expect it to work. I always thought that I couldn’t bring deities into my domain."
"As long as we do not mobilize energy to resist, we can be brought in." Ava’s voice was still cold, and emotionless. "Even a slight reluctance can prevent us from being pulled in. I just figured it out."
"Hmm," Catherine chuckled ambiguously, and whispered, "Those three beasts seem to be getting impatient. We are almost ready, tell us how to cooperate with you."
"The method is simple," Pannis focused on the increasingly restless beasts slithering amid the sand and rocks. "You help me distract two of them, and I’ll quickly kill the weakest of the three after pulling it a little bit away. Then, I’ll come back and kill another one with your assistance. As for the last one, I guess it should be half-dead by then."
"Sure." The girls responded succinctly, without considering whether all five of them could distract the two Demigod Rank beasts. They believed that, given Pannis understood them so well, he would make such arrangements only when he was confident. Hence, they readily accepted the plan without hesitation. Finally, Catherine asked, "Any specific points we need to consider?"
"Of course." Pannis warmed up at the girls’ response and said, "There are a lot of points to consider in their combat." (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, please go to qidian.com to cast your votes. Your support is my biggest motivation. To read on your mobile, please visit m.qidian.com.)
