Chapter 735: Chapter 95 - Just a Dream?_2
"Hm? Did he go out to see a friend?" Vivian asked with confusion, "There’s nothing strange about that.""Well, there’s nothing weird about those things," Catherine sighed, shaking her head and said, "However, when they returned, Lord Aske looked frantic. Many parts of his sand body had already fallen off, his sandy clothes had become tattered, and even his arm looked as if it had been recently formed, the color did not match the rest of his body."
"That sounds serious." Vivian frowned, saying anxiously, "It seems that they were in a harsh battle. And what about Pannis? Was he harmed in any way?"
"That’s exactly the problem." Catherine bit her lip hard, then sighed after a period of silence, "When he came back, he looked perfectly fine. His clothes were no different from when he left, not a single spot was damaged."
Vivian’s face fell, her expression becoming as grim as the other three girls’, a flicker of worry within her anger, she clenched her teeth saying, "That idiot, he must have died again."
After a couple of experiences, the girls understood Pannis’s unique circumstances very well. Although they didn’t know the exact cause, they knew Pannis couldn’t really die, at least not up until now. He could be injured, bleed, and become weary. When injured, he would leave wounds and possibly damage his clothing during fights. All these were no different than a normal person. The only situation that brought him and his gear back to pristine condition was when he died once. As soon as he died, all negative effects reset with his clothing and equipment restored to their best state prior to his death.
So, when Pannis came back unscathed while his friend looked battered, the girls wouldn’t believe that he merely watched his friend fight without lifting a finger. Neither would they believe that in the same battle, one demigod fought until he was battered while the other one didn’t even have a tear on his clothes. The only possibility was that he had reset - meaning he had died once again.
Vivian’s seemingly puzzled affirmation made Catherine’s face turn even grimmer: "Yes, this idiot neither cherishes himself nor considers if we’d feel sad for him whatsoever. Just because he can recover doesn’t mean he can be reckless with his life. No matter how much he can recover, severe injuries also hurt, and I highly doubt death is a pleasant experience. And, is death something to joke about? So far, he’s come back every time. But what if one day his reset fails, and he never comes back? Does he think it’s fun to leave us worrying for him?"
"Also, when he wasn’t looking, we heard Lord Aske talk." When Catherine stopped, Lina continued where she left off, "Although Lord Aske didn’t state why, this time he recklessly fought against the enemies like his life didn’t matter, even exploding all the crystals on his body and blowing a hole into himself. He even attempted to hide it from us, pretending like nothing happened. Thankfully, we knew his traits well and realised what had happened. Then we enquired Lord Aske privately about it. Otherwise, he would have hidden this, which is why big sis is mad and made him reflect outside."
"That bastard." Vivian murmured under her breath. The angry girls looked at each other, feeling a strange sensation about their current expressions. They flushed in embarrassment, though it wasn’t clear what they were thinking of. Vivian avoided the girls’ gaze and softly said, "Let him in. I have a few words I need to say to him, and I want to say thank you."
"Hey, you jerk Pannis, I know you’re eavesdropping." Catherine suddenly called out loudly, "Vivian has something to talk to you about. Hurry up and come in."
The door swooshed open, and Pannis came trotting in with a goofy grin. As soon as he entered, his face changed, and he said seriously, "No, I wasn’t eavesdropping. I couldn’t hear anything."
"Are you an idiot?" Catherine couldn’t help but shout, holding back her anger and said, "No one’s inquiring into this, Vivian has something to tell you."
"What’s wrong? What’s wrong?" Pannis said with an awkward smile, "Ah, Vivian, you’re awake. How are you feeling? Why are you lying down and not getting up? Haven’t you tried moving around to see if the new nerves are working?"
"Playing dumb, huh? Only a fool would believe you." Vivian rolled her eyes and murmured under her breath. Only then did she compose herself and said seriously, "Thank you."
"Thank me?" Pannis scratched his head, looking utterly confused. "What are you thanking me for?"
"Thank you for your help at the most crucial moment." Vivian said earnestly, "If it wasn’t for you talking to me in the last few minutes, I might not have made it. You saved me once again. You even used up your Whisper Crystal for me, a gift so precious. I really don’t know what to say."
"Talk to you? I was outside the whole time, I didn’t come in. And the Whisper Crystal, what is that? Does something like that even exist in this world?" Pannis asked with a puzzled face, "Are you dreaming? Are you really awake now, or did you get confused during the treatment and can’t tell if it’s a dream or reality?"
"Was it a dream?" Vivian didn’t have even a second thought and didn’t believe a word Pannis said. She gave him a cryptic smile, "I thought it was because you were afraid to admit all the infuriating nonsense you spoke."
"Eh? Hahaha, what a reason! I wouldn’t say things to upset you, hahaha." Pannis laughed dryly, his step was slowly backing away, he waved his hand hard and said, "I absolutely didn’t say anything, it was just your dream, trust me, it was only a dream, haha."
"Oh really? Maybe, but whether it was a dream or not doesn’t matter now." Vivian’s smile turned even sweeter, "Even if it were a dream, since you upset me in my dream, accept the punishment of Fireball Technique in the real world as compensation. Say goodbye to this world, Pannis!"
"Hey, where’s the logic in that?" Pannis’ face turned pale and he raced for the exit without looking back, shouting, "You can’t even hold me responsible for your own dreams, can you? That’s so unreasonable, I’m innocent here."
"Talking reason with an emotional woman, you are really naive, dear Mr. Pannis." Freya leaned on the treatment device, shaking her head in exasperation, "What’s even more naive is that you actually try to reason with a group of emotional women. What’s the best way to describe you, sigh."
Pannis finally made it outside the door in fear, realizing that the illogical Vivian didn’t chase after him. Only then did he breathe a sigh of relief, wiping sweat from his forehead. Suddenly, he paused, turning to the open door in confusion and said, "Wait, you can’t move right now, can you? How could you possibly hit me with the Fireball Technique?"
"Hahaha." What responded to him was the gradually closing door and the girls’ laughter, sharp as bells, their triumphant giggles seemed to embrace everything with a warm breeze, Pannis’ heart included. With their laughter behind the closed door, Pannis’ panic gradually faded, replaced by a gentle smile. He whispered to himself in a voice only he could hear, "I should be the one saying thank you. I wouldn’t have been able to smile like this, not after all these years, if not for you. You’re always thanking me, but the ones who should be receiving thanks are each and every one of you. Thank you, my dear girls." (To Be Continued. If you like this story, please come to qidian.com to vote. Your support is my biggest motivation. Mobile users, please go to m.qidian.com for reading.)
