Chapter 734: Chapter 95 - Just a Dream?_1

Chapter Ninety Fifth: Is it just a dream?

"Hey, what’s the matter?" Catherine was prepared when she let go of her hand. As soon as Vivian fell down, she rushed forward and held her, anxiously asking, "Are you hurt? Aren’t you used to walking yet?"

"It hurts, it hurts so much." Vivian raised her head, and Catherine was surprised to find that the mage girl’s forehead was covered with sweat. Her teeth were clenched tightly as she managed to utter a few words through gritted teeth, "My whole body is in severe pain; what’s happening to me?"

"You were too hasty." The slight light next to the treatment instrument flickered, and Ava’s image reappeared on the outside of the treatment instrument, expressionlessly saying, "I didn’t get a chance to stop you before you pushed yourself. You can’t rush things. Although your nerves have been completely replaced by the treatment instrument and are back to normal, your muscles have not recovered. All the muscles in your body, except for your head, are still in a state of atrophy. You should remember the previous state. Vivian, you would have seen when you were injured before, your muscles had almost degenerated to be as thin as paper. It can only support very slight activities. If you exert too much force, it will cause this kind of situation where masses of muscles tear inside your body, causing severe pain."

"No wonder you said that the problem is more complicated after the treatment than before it." Catherine finally understood the hidden meaning in Ava’s words and helped Vivian, who was shaking from the pain, sit on the floor. She anxiously asked, "What should we do now? We can’t let her continue to suffer like this."

"I don’t care about that." Vivian, who was in pain and was sweating profusely, still managed to ask Ava with all her strength, "I just want to know, is there any chance of my muscles recovering? I don’t want my nerves to be restored only for things to be worse than before. At least before, I could control myself with magic. Now that I’m conscious, I won’t be able to use the Puppet Control Spell if it hurts so much. I don’t think I’ll have to continue like this. That would be worse than not being treated."

"That won’t happen. They can still recover." Ava said calmly, "But it requires a long rehabilitation process. With Lina’s help in treatment, you have a higher tolerance for pain due to your past experiences, so your rehabilitation program can be a bit more intensive but reasonable. You should be able to recover to the pre-treatment state within about three months."

"Phew, thank goodness." On hearing this news, Vivian’s mood was ecstatic, as if a prisoner on death row had suddenly received a reprieve. Even her pain seemed to have lessened. She leant on Catherine and weakly said, "It’s so lucky to hear this result. Ava, thank you. I was really afraid that you’d say I’d have to remain like this forever. That would indeed be cruel. It would be even better if I never woke up during the treatment. Big sister, what would you do if I really couldn’t recover, if every movement caused severe pain, and if there was no hope of recovery? Would you still support me as before, helping me to keep going?"

"What stupid thing are you saying, you idiot?" Catherine wrapped the mage girl’s body in clothes, tugged her favourite brimmed soft hat firmly on her head, and rubbed the hat vigorously. She said displeased, "Even now, you’re still asking such idiotic questions. You’re my sister - a part of my life. Even if you don’t have any chance of recovery, I would still carry you and crawl forward. Moreover, I know you too well. You’re not the kind to yield easily to fate. You could figure out a way to deal with an illness that was supposed to paralyze you, enabling you to act like a normal person. I believe that even if you really don’t have a chance of recovery this time, you’d be able to come up with some strange method to allow you to adventure outside with us. I have no doubt; you’re that kind of person who could do such a thing."

"Hehe." Vivian snuggled into Catherine’s arms like a spoiled child, giggled for a while, and then asked, "Why didn’t I see Pannis? Where is he? He didn’t go out, did he? I still have something to say to him. Silly Lina, you better not lie to me, I just recovered, and you’re not allowed to bully me now. Don’t explain, I can see from your dodgy gaze that you’re up to something bad. Are you trying to lie to me saying he’s already left? I don’t believe your silly lies."

"Tsk, you’ve become so sensitive at a time like this." Lina clicked her tongue disapprovingly, saying regretfully, "He’s reflecting outside the door."

"Reflecting? Did he do something stupid again?" Vivian asked reflexively, but immediately laughed, "That’s right, my question was wrong. There will be a day when he doesn’t do a few silly things, so that’s not surprising. I want to ask what silly things he did this time? To the point where you made him reflect outside the door?"

"On the fourth day after you entered the treatment instrument, that guy went out for a while." Catherine stern-faced, seemingly still a bit angry, said unfriendly, "He only came back yesterday, and he came back with one of his friends. You know, one of those friends, Lord Aske, the hero of the Sand People. However, Lord Aske left last night."
