Chapter 706: Chapter 67 After the Nightmare_1

Freya had a dream, a very bad dream.

Last night, after setting off the goblin fireworks and setting up enough Detection Arrays and traps at the mouth of the cave, she returned to the ice-house without looking back. She moved the Crystal Energy furnace beside her bed, took out a leather sleeping bag compressed into a lump from her backpack, and spread it out on the ice bed. Before going to bed, she deliberately took out the coat mentioned on the parchment from under the animal skin on the bed. Indeed, the leather of the coat had become very brittle and needed to be handled very carefully. The style of the clothes looked very old, and no one had worn such a style decades ago. Only in the etiquette class, when the history of clothing development was introduced, could one see it in pictures. Freya wanted to try the coat on but gave up immediately. Annoyed, she tossed the coat aside without giving it another glance. When she climbed into the sleeping bag, she was still mumbling about the issues with her body shape.

Because of the hot water bottle she had put inside, the sleeping bag soon became warm. The warm sleeping bag gradually thawed the numb and stiff body of the girl. The hidden physical fatigue and mental pressure were suddenly released, and she felt an irresistible sleepiness invading her. After only a few seconds, Freya was no longer able to resist her own sleepiness and fell into a deep sleep. In the ice house, only the flame of the Crystal Energy furnace was flickering and making faint crackling sounds, and all was quiet.

Although she slept deeply, the girl did not sleep peacefully. She had a dream, a very bad dream. In the dream, she felt dense vines growing out of all the wounds on her body, and the itching and stinging as the vines grew made her suffer as if she was in hell. However, even in the dream, Freya knew very clearly that it wasn’t real, it was just a natural reaction after the wounds affected by the cold regained sensation. But what happened next was very inappropriate, which caused her to worry even in her sleep. She felt her whole body heating up, from the inside out, especially the palms and soles of her feet, it felt like they were on fire. Shortly afterwards, she felt her whole body getting cold, so cold that it was like being naked back on the icy plains, and she was shivering all over. In her dream, it felt like someone threw her into the blazing fire to roast her, and then tossed her onto the ice plain to freeze. This vicious cycle repeated over and over again and caused her unbearable pain. Clearly, the girl knew very well that the wounds had become problematic. The untreated wounds had finally started to deteriorate, causing her body to start running a fever.

Now, there is trouble. She no longer has any chance to walk out of the icy plain by herself. She doesn’t know if her body can survive this crisis. Even if she does survive, she doesn’t know whether her legs will have any irreversible hidden problems. The girl’s heart was full of uncertainty and fear. Even in her sleep, she kept tossing and turning in the sleeping bag.

However, perhaps because the fire of the Crystal Energy furnace had gone out, Freya in the dream felt that the heat of her head gradually subsided as it was exposed to the outside air. Waves of coolness wrapped around her head, providing a relief to her consciousness that had been tormented by high heat. Her restless body gradually quieted down, and finally she truly fell into a peaceful sleep.

When she woke up the next day, even before opening her eyes, she felt pain all over her body. Each and every muscle gave off a strong sensation of soreness and swelling, reminding her of the severity of her physical condition. Although her eyes were still shut, she felt the darkness enveloping her, unable to see any sunlight in the ice house, unable to distinguish between day and night, it felt like she was in a tomb, causing unease.

"Strange, I remember not turning off the Crystal Energy light before I went to sleep." The girl slowly opened her eyes, unable to solve the confusion in her heart. The first thing she saw in her blurry vision was a pair of shiny eyes.

"Hmm?" Even though her whole body was sore, Freya immediately tensed her muscles in readiness for an emergency. But then she saw the familiar look in the shiny eyes. It was a look unique to Pannis: indifferent to everything, lazy, but with a hint of teasing.

"You guys found me." The girl suddenly felt a sour sensation in her eyes and had the urge to cry. But she didn’t know if she had actually cried, and she also didn’t know if she had actually said this sentence. Her consciousness was still stuck at the moment when she identified the owner of the gaze, and then she fell back into a deep sleep again. This time, her sleep was exceptionally peaceful. Even though her body was still in pain and burning, even though the numbness and pain were still torturing every muscle in her body, her heart was calm. No longer was there any anxiety, worry, unease, only tranquility and happiness accompanying her, which allowed her to sleep sweetly.

When the girl woke up again, the ice house was filled with the light of the Crystal Energy lamp. With a clear head, she felt that her forehead was covered with a cold towel. Catherine was sitting beside her bed, ringing out another ice towel ready to replace the one on her forehead. When she heard the girl’s voice, Catherine turned her face and took a serious look at her. Only then did she reveal a slight smile at the corner of her mouth, nodded and said, "It’s a good thing that you woke up, it looks like Lina’s Healing Spell has worked."

"So, you guys did find me." The hoarseness in Freya’s voice startled herself as well. She looked around and saw Lina and Vivian lying on two large beds on either side of her, Ava was lying on the small bed. The three girls were sound asleep. "You all came too. When did you guys find me?"

"Four hours ago, at around four in the morning," cautious not to wake the others, Catherine lowered her voice and said, "We all searched for you. By that time, we had already passed this place from the east. Fortunately, you set off the goblin fireworks; otherwise, we wouldn’t have been able to find you. You silly girl, why didn’t you light the fireworks earlier? If you had set them off earlier, we would have noticed you sooner. This way, we could have treated you in time, and you would not have gotten sick due to the deterioration of your wounds."

"Hehehe."Freya giggled, feeling ashamed of herself for doubting her place in everyone else’s hearts earlier. But she quickly hid her emotions and asked quietly, "So you guys searched for me all night?"

"What else do you think?" Catherine gave Freya a side glance, "You believe we would hide in a safe place and wait for you to find your way back after you were swept away by the ice storm?"

"Uh, of course not, hehehe." The girl giggled again. After suddenly changing the topic she asked, "Huh, where’s Pannis? I thought I saw him when I woke up. Was I dreaming?"

"He’s outside the cave enjoying the scenery." Catherine shrugged, "He should be back soon."(To be continued.
